Hi all,

This year I am staying at Bally's during the FF.  Which tower is closest to the conf rooms where the FF is held?  Also, are the lower level rooms quiet enough or noisy from the casino below?  Any other suggestions about staying at Bally's?

Thanks,

Ltldogg

North Tower is closest to the event hall's and was the newely renovated rooms.  That's what I have read from other's who actually stayed at Bally's

Yes, you want to be in the North tower, the elevators let out about 10ft from the entry way to the conferance center(though most the rooms are still down a hall), the added advantage of the North tower, is you almost don't even have to look at the Casino if you don't want to, and smoking is only allowed near the casino area, I believe.

Yup, north tower.  The default that comes up when you register is south tower.  When I saw that, I had to back out and go to Bally's site itself and look at a property map to see which I wanted.

South tower is to the right of the entrance of the hotel (so have to walk past registration and past a little bit of the casino to get to north tower elevator and then the conference hall starts mere feet from the north tower elevators.

Catch is, at least when I registered for the hotel, south tower rooms were classics for the quoted price; north tower room availability was deluxe rooms (marble in the bathroom basically) for $20 more each night.

For me, since I'm always going back/forth and pretty much attend every game specific forum that's relevant for me, while I swallowed hard for the extra $80, I went for closer proximity.

For me it will be the other way round, this year, if I can go. Last year I was in the south tower by mistake, I got confused on wich was closer. However, I realized that I only saw my room twice each day, when I opened my Eyes in the morning, and right befor I went to sleep at night. The rest was spent in the conferance area or walking to food, as such the proximity of the room wasn't that big a deal, besides the hotel isn't that big anyway*. So if it is the same this year with the $20 preminum then I'll just stick to the south tower.

*compaired to the hilton or Rio, where it was a 15min walk from the Elevators to the conferance area.

Aye.  That's probably why the default comes up with the cheaper room/further away spot anyway.  And for most it won't be any issue at all.

For me, with all the meetings back/forth, live quest supplies to lug around and the munchies I cart for the panel discussions for the speakers, having the closer room ended up being needed (needed every spare minute I could).

Plus, I did actually spend time in the room.  Having been to vegas so many times (and not being one who drinks, smokes, gambles or goes to shows and who has done the tour/strip already), I reluctantly paid the premium.

And yeah, Hilton and Rio were MUCH further away, I 1000% agree there.

I don't Drink, Gamble, etc. either I just spend every minute either in the Legonds Lounge, Participating in Live Events, or at Panels, until they kick me out, then I generally just go back to my room and sleep until it is time to get back in line for the next day.

Just an FYI, I didn't have to pay the extra rate for the North Tower.  I booked my flight and hotel through Expedia.  I then called Bally's direct to ask about my room.  The customer rep said no room had been assigned yet and that it was first come first serve.  So I requested the North Tower, lowest floor and she assigned it right then, without any additional fee.  When I booked through Expedia my rate was just as cheap as if booking through SOE, for the south tower.

I hope this helps others.

I booked my vacation package, i.e. flight and hotel, through Southwest Vacations and my flight and room in the north tower are all confirmed.

Most companies like Expedia, Orbitz, Southwest Vacations and etc. have rooms in both towers set aside for their customers only.  And not only in Bally's, but in most large hotels and convention locales.

I have a friend that works at Southwest Vacations and that is what she informed me of.  So, if you are booking a package deal through one of these companies, you should be able to call them and request which tower you want.  But, it is on a first come basis.

Hope this helps you out.
