The rush order xp was hugely reduced with the patch...
With 174m xp required per level and with rush orders giving rougly 2.7m xp.. that is 64 rush orders per levels. That seems excessive. If a rush order takes 5 minutes, that's roughly 5hrs per level...

I agree. The xp after patch is pretty horrible. Even sitting at 140 xp mod, with full vitality, I end up getting maybe ~5% per writ.

Not even halfway through the levels so I'm sure it will only get worse.

It does get worse, the amount of XP needed rises with each new level, from approximately 179 million at 101 to approximately 195 million at 109. The writs are a real waste of time and effort that should have gone towards testing quest content. It appears that we no longer have a dedicated tradeskill dev.

Returned to tradeskill after taking a day or two off bcz of the drastic change in the amount rush orders it takes to level. I see there has been no change and after doing about 10 of the same rush order guess I'll take another day or two off. Sorry this is not what i expected I understand there is no questline but this is, Eek

Yes, I agree with Mermut. The requiements for completing orders should be in line with what we have seen in the past. Thank you in advance for considering this.

One of the problems I see is the the level 100 through 109 recipes should only be using last tier harvestables. The new harvestables say they are 110-120. So the tradeskill buffer should have last tiers harvestables on them also. I spend all my time in Thalumbra fishing and harvesting for roots. Are there any fish in this shiny?! It takes 3 of both type fish for a level 100 work order(that is 36 fish a pop) for my sage so I go through them like candy!
After I hit level 101 the rush orders went to either 110 or 99. So I cannot do the rush orders at all unless I do the level 99. (I have thought about doing those as they seem to read like they give more exp than the level 100 work order)
Does anyone know if they are planning to fix this in the near future? Only a few weeks left before it goes live.
Next problem is the spells. I cannot make the newer spells as they call for level 110 harvestables for fuel and the game doesn't recognize it. So I cannot test out the spells, even the grandmaster pet spell I chose only cast the same pet as the level 100. So my pet is still blue to me.

Further information.. we're getting 120-150 xp per combine... if we need 174 million to 191 million xp per level.. (note that would require a minimum of 1,160,000 combines to lvl) the xp per combine should probably go up... or it might be easier to bring the tradeskill xp required to level back in line with what it has been in the past...

I'll add my name to the growing list getting low xp for rush orders. I asked Gninja and he said that it wasn't changed the bonus for beta was removed. I would like ask if whoever is responsible to tradeskills to please add that bonus back. It does no good to have people willing to test the various tradeskills if they are just too burned out getting minimal xp to even try. Frown

I wont test any tradeskilling at a reduced rate like this. There are already plenty of crafters extremely unimpressed with the lack of any tradeskill questing. Restore the bonus if you want to not have a buggy shamble of a game upon launch. Many tradeskillers were holding out for fixes to tradeskill leveling that denmother said were coming to beta. No one expected leveling to get worse if they waited!

Since there is no timeline to help us level up our tradeskillers (which I always do first before doing finishing off with writs), I think the rush orders should be buffed more than past betas to help us get through all our tradeskillers to give feedback. I thought this was going to happen so I have been waiting. There are no carp recipes either so that makes it even harder to level. When Altar of Malice launched there was plenty of time for me to do ts timeline on every single character and even a few extra for character expansion. Time is limited and there are events on live servers going on that I am sure I am not the only one that doesn't want to miss. Glad I don't craft for people anymore because I would have a complete meltdown trying to get 9 crafters maxed without timeline so I can craft for everyone in guild. The good news about carp recipes not being added yet allows us to submit items in zones as possible house items. This excites me and will be heading to beta today.

So the intent is for people to, literally, spend 2+ hrs mindlessly grinding out rush orders per level when the expansion goes live? Since there won't be a tradeskill timeline until some unspecified time after the expac goes live...
I'm hoping there will be real rush orders and not just the one that under level for almost half the 'journey' to lvl 100 Confused

The fastest way to get mats for crafting is to copy a toon loaded with mats then transfer them to your crafter. But I do not want to spend 2 hours per level grinding multiple TS(heck I do not want to spend 2 hours per level for 1 do to time restaints). It is clear by the reward you want people to test the trade skill but the time takes to level each level is beyond a pain. Heck I only have a few maxed out on the live server because TS is such a time sink to level.(If I recall right from 20-90 is about 10 rush orders per level, then 91-100 is about 22 rush and it seams 101-110 is going to the same or more.) It makes me wonder who likes grinding up crafting that it is such a grind.

The fact that crafting is not being leveled with stuff you can farm while adventuring is an issue. Traditionally resources where 1-10, but several expansions ago that was changed resulting in the level flow so now we have a miss match in mats and adventure. Almost like some one is saying adventure is lower level than crafting. This to me needs to be addressed, if the expansion is adding levels 101-110 then the mats should be 101-110, having mats going above available level only means this issue will reappear or be worse next time you add levels in 2-3 expansions.

The level 100 rush orders should be using stuff from essentials not rep require stuff.(require the basic not farmed special stuff to level so an alt that has a highly needed TS that is low adventure level can still grind up levels even though it lacks the rep stuff when you go live.)

I like many others, do not understand why crafter's are being penalized during this beta. I don't recall this being the case in the past, so why now? It seems that the bonus was there at one time but taken away. I really don't expect an explanation for this but would be interested in an answer.

This wasn't the case at the beginning of beta. Someone went in and "fixed" it. Mad

So all in all XP rush order is a waste of time atm, but there is no other good way to get the beta reward? Right?
I would really like to get it and I am also willing to invest some time, but this seems like you need a whole week of vacation for it Frown

So what is a proper way to test and do it in a viable amount of time without wasting to much free time?

I think in addition to posting here, we should all do /bug in game to stress the issue of low xp.

There's no way I'll be testing all 9 of my TS in beta if they're all going to take days to complete. I understand that this xp will not be in live and that's exactly what I would expect, but I don't expect the adventure leveling xp we are getting to be in live either. I'd love to test all of the writs (rush and regular) for all crafting classes, but that's just not going to happen at this rate. Frown

This should have been the normal curve rate for tradeskilling and not even with a bonus. The bonus should have been twice even this rate. If this rate has been halved, and that translates to live, folks are gonna be pissed at having to sit there so long doing something so mindless. It took me all night (with the bonus) just to get a single level. I don't want to spend 10 days per toon, x 14 toons, leveling up just tradeskilling. That's ridiculous. That tradeskill sig line had better be worth some damn good exp to make this even remotely worth it if they're going to leave the exp halved the way it is.

If 2% per writ is what we can expect on live I think I'll cancel my order. I have over a dozen mastercrafters and have no desire to spend 5 hours per level getting them to 110. Taking away the beta bonus is just giving a big middle finger to your crafters, but thanks for the warning about how little you care about us.

I'm getting 5% per rush order. But, that's with mark of the far seas & full vitality (I get more if I use xp pots). But, yeah 20 rush orders per level is excessive. I'm not completely bugged about this translating to live since I won't be doing rush orders to level (hopefully) and the TS signature line would give more than that. I also have a "mule" toon that I copy over with potions of progress and potions of innovation each day, unload / delete / repeat, so that does help speed things up, but it's still beyond tedious.

We were told at the beginning of beta that the tradeskills timeline will not be in game until AFTER launch. So, I'm only assuming, that the requirements for completing the tradeskilling portion of beta to receive the reward has been adjusted to reflect that fact. So, now my question is what kind of "testing" could it possibly be if what we are doing is running the same two writs over and over ad nauseam receiving an awful amount of experience to boot to be able to earn the beta reward that is available for the crafters? Now for those that didn't get in here on day one and start leveling crafting as soon as the recipes were available, it has become such a grindfest (yet again). Oh, what fun it is!! NOT!!! I actually feel, as a crafter, that I am being punished for being willing and able to help in this whole beta process.

SHAME ON YOU, DB, for not being prepared yet again!

I asked in Discord and did get a response from Caith. At least it's something.

Caith The reason we turned off the beta bonus xp is so that we can get an accurate picture of how it would be on live, and adjust as required. The TS xp isn't where we want it.

I've already got a change to writ xp in for the next build, so you should see that tonight.
Caith Or tomorrow if you don't play after midnight Smile

5 standard orders yesterday + 5 rush orders w/exp pot (no gear) today got me .2% (that's point two percent) exp.
So my takeaway from beta tradeskill is very negative. No beta reward is worth this torture. It is torture.
What is the incentive to beta test tradeskills?
This leaves a bad taste in my mouth...kinda like that 80 year old who drinks waaaay too much coffee and doesn't brush his gums smell...yeah, it tastes like that smell...
Point two percent???Frown
Ignore my signature, it doesn't express how I feel about this game today.

Thank you for that info Chienne! Smile

also,

From day one? Well, at that time leveling wasn't really possible at all, we were getting 15-40k per writ depending on your equipment and pots. That exp boost and the writs were not available until the weekend. As was said, those writs were put in just so people could get started on it, having waited for a few days anyway. I got 1 lvl 110 in before the nerf. That means, for me, I got 1 in a full week of beta. They threw them in there so we could even start. I'm glad they're testing things because that's what I'm doing too...I think. lol! BigGrin

This issue is that there was no one managing the trades as Domino was for years - it was she who developed the trade sig lines. She probably also set up the items and recipies and the xp for each level. I seriously suspect that this has been handed off to someone who has been working with adventure content and things have, well uhm, slipped since it was 'never' a priority to adventuring devs to provide/support trades in any aspect.

You've missed this post: https://forums.daybreakgames.com/eq2/index.php?threads/info-how-to-level-100-right-now.581531/

You need to do level 100 or higher rush orders or work orders. (Only level 100+ have the new xp rewards on completion) *Currently* they're using Maldura recipes for the level 100 ones and not everyone bothered to get those recipes. This is temporary. They've cobbled together a leveling path for all the eager testers while they're still working on the real writs, and some other crafting goodness for us. We've got a month - they ARE making progress, we're just trying to progress faster than they can keep up.

Sux2bme.
I took the PL 100 Boost for both Adventure and tradeskill and popped that toon into Beta. Haven't completed any signature lines.
Should I have known beta testing requires a toon that has completed ToT?
IIRC, KA beta had removed any pre-req's to help test (at least for adventure, I didn't do tradeskill).

I attempted to do a level 100 rush order earlier this afternoon. The order required 2 recipes I didn't have scribed.
I went to Oliver yesterday and purchased any book that wasn't listed in red. 2 of those recipes books purchased were bloodytooth. What am I doing wrong?
