![]() Yuck. If those are the only options, I have to vote for the Hilton... June is graduation time! Out of curiousity, does the Hilton have a bigger space? Bally's was getting quite crowded last year... I really hope that if it ends up there again (and the poll certianly seems to be leaning that way) they can try and squeeze more tables in. |

![]() The Hilton was awful the year it was there. Ballys has been much, much better the past two years. I might go again if it were held at the Hilton but would get a hotel somewhere else. There is no way I would ever stay in the rat trap again. |

Bally's all day long. Plus the Hilton date would conflict with GenCon for like the third year in a row!

![]() The logic is to go with the Hilton cause it is $79 a night and the Bally's is $87 a night when you average the three nights. Plus airfare around the 4th of July Holiday is normally more than in the beginning of August. |

![]() I attended the first SOE Fan Faire in 2005, it was OK, Hilton was kinda meh. As long as me and my Extended Brothers and Sisters get some attention, I'd be down for Bally's. Pending I have a paying job by then. |

![]() Hi all, I've been each of the last two years and I have to say that Bally's is in great location in middle of strip. Plus I think they are starting to know us all by name now...Wouldnt be bad idea to move it around like maybe every 3 years out of Vegas, to give peeps in different regions a break in cost and travel. I fly in from Michigan , so a fanfaire in Boston, or maybe Chicago or Washington DC would be cool !That being said, I think it is great that we have dates sort of in place, to plan vacations at work and such, and start saving plat for the trip ! |

I am working on it though. Even though i was new to this i was greeted by all and i felt like i had known some of you for years, and i can't wait to see you all again and throw back a few with ya! Till then................ BALLY's > Hilton ( come on........take it from someone who lives in Vegas!) |

![]() While not a fan of the Hilton or its location, the dates are better and make it easier to ask for the time off. Not to mention that the rates are cheaper, which is a definite plus when on a budget. |

Allow me to "This" this... The Strip is overrated, these days and honestly I thought that Bally's was not thrilling. Meanwhile, my wife and I stayed at the Golden Nugget and it was a short trip to the strip when we wanted to go to the Faire and the M&M's store (but mostly we gambled on Fremont and in MGM, anyway). Why spend money on a hotel when you can spend it on Faire swag (and gambling... and food... etc.. etc...). |

![]() Why do you guys always put a date opposite of GenCon? I voted for July because the August date is against the largest Game Con in North America. Also, Bally's has a much better convention space that is much more accessable. |

As far as the cost for the room at Bally's goes, is that for the south tower or north, and if its for the south tower, will we get roped into having to pay an additional $20.00 a night to get into a nicer room, or are they working on having the south tower rennovated by the time we will be there? I mean for sure the north tower is the one to be in if your staying there during fan faire, location,location,location... |

![]() I like the Bally's location because it gives you more choices of hotels that are close to there, we usually dont stay at Ballys anyway. The Hilton is way far away, in terms of Vegas fun! Trust me, I saw some of you guys walking around it the heat the last couple of years, it wasn't pretty lol!!! Hedge |

![]() I chose the earlier date because my spouse can't handle the heat in aug. When we went last year it was great.. but he was stuck indoors a lot.. so .. I could careless either way.. but do really enjoy the strip. I just enjoy going to Fanfaire anyways.. I love seeing my friends IRL instead of just in game. Can't wait! *saves her pennies* |

![]() I was 'less than impressed' with the Hilton experience in 2008 so I've gotta vote for a return trip to Bally's.Ballys + Paris = two hotels worth of bars for the price of one. |

![]() To be totally honest? Keep looking. Neither venue sounds appealing. Bally's: Very "meh". I was unimpressed by the hotel and it's amenities, and I'm glad I stayed elsewhere. The lack of "basic" services (Wifi, Starbucks, etc) is a huge turn-off. It's unlikely they'll ever see my money. I'm a man on a budget, and their stuff wasn't cheap enough. Along with that, the food in the surrounding area wasn't cheap enough for me. I'm used to $2 lunches and dinners at Taco Bell, or a $5 footlong from Subway, or something along those lines. There was -zero- cheap/decent food easily accessible to Bally's. That's the price you pay for being on the strip, though. The one exception? The early morning steak and eggs breakfast at Ellis Island Casino, a couple blocks away, off the strip, for $4.99. Hilton: Probably a decent hotel, but a little TOO far away from everything. I don't know what their Internet options are, nor what cheap food may be in the area (haven't looked up either, only partially tempted to), but being the distance it is from the rest of the strip, it's going to make things inconvenient for a lot of people, and I think many will be disappointed or turned off by not being "on the strip". That said, I could care less. I prefer a place that's a little less "packed", like Bally's was (and the strip in general), especially on the weekend. I spend the first few days I was there (arrived Monday) sight-seeing, and the rest of the time at Bally's. I didn't go "cruising the strip" once Fan Faire actually started. Most people I talked to didn't either.. they came a day early, or stayed a day late, so they could do the sight-seeing part without missing Fan Faire. Now, the Monorail could be a big help; it does run late at night, and there are stops at the Hilton, as well as all up and down the rest of the strip. I made frequent use of the Monorail while I was there this year, and suspect I will again, regardless of where the convention is held. For those who just want to do a day of sight-seeing, a one-day unlimted ride pass to the Monorail is very reasonable. All that said, I still think you should continue your search for another venue. There are dozens of hotels and/with convention centers in the area. There has to be someone with enough space, decent rooms and amenities, and near enough to some less-overpriced food that most people can agree on. As for dates, I could see the weekends right around the 4th of July being problematic for a lot of people. The 4th is an important holiday for the entire country, and should be a time of reflection and celebration, not preparing for a trip to Vegas. For those of us who like to arrive a few days early, a convention that starts on the 7th pretty much means we'll be flying in on the 3rd, 4th, or 5th, and I'm not a big fan of travelling on the days immediately around any holidays. And while I don't attend ComicCon, I agree that a conflict should be avoided. With that in mind, an earlier date could mean slightly cooler temperatures, although I'm not certain of that. I don't watch Vegas' summer weather patterns that closely. So you know, Fan Faire 2010 was almost exactly $1000 for me. $375 of that was airfare, $75 was lodging (I stay at a timeshare, so other than an administrative fee I had to pay for a larger room and an extra day, it cost me nothing to stay there that I had to budget for), $50 in ground/Monorail transportation, the $100 convention fee, and the other $400 (yes, almost half of my entire expenditure) was food and drink. You can ask anyone I was with, I didn't drink much when I had to pay for it.. meaning that a majority of that money was spent on overpriced food (and it's not like I went out of my way to indulge in expensive eateries, either). I spend about that much on food/drinks in a MONTH, yet in Vegas, I managed to spend that in a WEEK, which is pretty insane. I couldn't do any extra-curricular activities, nor purchase anything while at the convention, because all of my "spending money" had to go to food. If you want to see my buying shirts, books, buttons, artwork, whatever.. you need to find a way of making the trip more affordable. For me, that's finding a place that has *reasonably priced* decent food (or better yet, a Taco Bell), lodging that has in-room Wifi, fridge, and microwave, and (reasonably) convenient access to the strip. It would not surprise me if many others felt the same way. In fact, if you do, let's hear it. |

![]() It would be awesome to have the Fan Faire closer to the East Coast again. There might be a different assortment of people attending. At least they (we) would have a better chance of affording it and/or having the time to conveniently make the trip. I know that isn't really up for vote this time again, but maybe it will help to say so for some time in the future. It is cheaper for Sony to send their personnel to Las Vegas than to the East Coast, but my guess is that other expenses would be lower and at least even it out. With that said, August 4-9th isn't great for me because that's the week school starts for us and that Friday would be the first day with kids. There's no way they'd let me off for Fan Faire. I might even be laughed out of the principal's office for even asking. By the time I flew out there on Saturday and back on Sunday for the weekend portion of Fan Faire, not much time would be left to enjoy the convention. People with kids might have the same issues I do with getting them started in school. As far as Bally's or Hilton, it doesn't matter really in the long run. It is handy to be on the strip for some of us, because (believe it or not) we are tourists and we do want to see and do things. Not all and especially not East Coasters take their vehicles to drive around. Cabs are expensive and buses are inconvenient. Walking is the best option. It would be a hike from the Hilton. |

![]() Even though this request will fall on deaf ears like the past few years, ORLANDO! I mean anything but Vegas for the what 5th year in a row. Seriously 9 of the last 10 FF has been out of reach for the fans because SOE decided that they cant afford to send their folks out to the east coast once in a while? |
