If you are planning on using the bonus experience to get some AA points you will probably want to do so cautiously lest you possibly waste your time.

They have just announced a change to the AA experience curve that will significantly boost your amounts at the high end.

http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=516875

You may want to monitor this situation, because barring a change to the formula you will likely go from the 280-285 AA region all the way up to 320.

So if you are grinding past that point all that time could be for naught when the switch happens.

Just remember, things change, so they may alter the curve some before it hits live. You will just have to decide whether you want to be sure you get the AA or chance wasting the time that could be spent on alts or whatnot.

I personally would not take a toon past 290.

Please spread the word to friends and guildies so that they may plan accordingly.

I dunno if I'd completely bank on values of the first change of something like this on test.  The formula may be tweaked before go-live.

That being said, I'm probably not going to bother piling any aa on my toons over 300, but I have a couple 80/200 toons I'll probably bump to 90/300 this weekend.

the rate only changes if your under 280 aa.  they said the change was to get people to 280 aa so they can level above 90.

Have you read the thread I linked? If not you may want to go do that before you pass along erroneous info, because it affects all level ranges.

Edited to be a little kinder. SMILEY

I copied my toon over that was closest to 280 to see.

Was 268 and went to 303, so it looks like 282 or 283 will get you to 320 if they don't change the curve(line).

Im wondering how the algorithm will change say 1-200aa if any at all.

Did they reduce the amount of exp needed per aa overall? or just in certain ranges etc..

The change seems to be around 13% meaning if you have a 100 AAs they probably go to 113.

the best way to explain it is when you level an AA it doesn't forget your experance value off all other AA levels, if you had 100 AAs and it took total 100,000 XP for example and then they reduced the XP per level 1-100 from 1000 to 900 you would gain 100XP per level x 100 = aprox 10 AAs bonus.

People creating new toons will earn AAs faster and anyone below the aa cap will get extra AAs exactly like they would have for the time invested if the new table was in the game from the start

Rushing people right along again I see...

Is there no value to the low-level game to the current powers-that-be, other than an apparatus to shuttle people as quickly as possible to the 90/280 "real game" in DoV?

Makes me wonder what's the point in keeping lvls 1-90, they might as well give you a lvl 90 / 200AA as soon as you create a new char. The game curently does not teach new players anything anyway, they reach lvl 90 with no idea what they are doing.

the only value leveling has is to weed out players that dont have the patience to get stick around.

If they did do something to the low level parto f the game what would you expect them to do?

Just wanted to confirm what other people have already said. Using the data from the other thread, plus my own furher data, it looks like a linear 13% increase.

If the curve is not changed, that means the magic number is around 283.2 AAs to get to 320, so keep that in mind while you are watching the forums for changes and considering how you want to spend your time this weekend.

I like this line!

They made a significant change to what was needed in game and not alot of lead time for us to address it without mindlessly grinding and/or tearing our hair out.

I know get to enjoy a holiday weekend MY way...however that may be. Games are to be fun, not work...

Not yet I don't think. I am thinking they will start it at 12:01 Friday so as to include Good Friday, but who knows.

ABILITIES / ALTERNATE ADVANCEMENT

We have modified the AA XP tables reducing the amount of experience necessary for advancement levels 1 to 280.  When you log in your character they will be converted from the old tables to the new tables this will cause most characters to get bonus advancement points. Enjoy!

I think until I see changes in the test update notes that changes to the curve above 280 AA points are a bug and I won't assume it'll go live like that.

So you think they are going to bump someone who has say 250 up to 280 but leave the person at 280 still at 280? Is that what you are saying you think is going to happen?

I'll take "What is NO" for a thousand, Raknid.

If it use to take a total XP of lets just say 2,000,000 to get to 280 and now the curve is making that total to 280 closer to 1,500,000 then the players that had earned the 2,000,000 in the past have a 500,000 balance that will apply forward.  Now if the 281 to 320 XP curve is lowered or not the overage from 1 to 280 will be applied.  Right now, on test, that is about 283-284 will push to 320.

It is the total XP to 320 that is important ... and if they lower the needed XP to get to 280, then they lower the total XP to get to 320 by default.  Even without lowering the actual XP needed per level....

OR they will lower the XP in all level tiers... it really doesn't matter much does it.

Exactly the point I was getting to. That was good for a Daily Double. SMILEY If you can track me down I will treat you to a beverage of your choice.

I'm happy to see this bonus added. Especially considering they are locking the new content behind an aa number.

I've just returned and could be wrong, but this is the first time they've locked content behind aa's before right?

to say they are "locking the content behind AA" is really exaggerating things.

personally, as a person that likes to do instances when not raiding, its atleast some what comforting to know a person over level 90, atleast has a good amount of AA.

people are far too fond of powerleveling toons to 90 and having little to no AA, and just trying to get them by simply doing instances.

nothing like getting a dirge in your group then asking "why dont you have dex sonata?"

They are locking level advancement (91-92) behind AA. At this point 280 AA points has become the only way to advance passed level 90. Therefore AA is no longer alternative but the only way to advance.

You only NEED to advance past 90 if you are particpating in heroic content. All the solo content is designed for level 90.

To say content is blocked is an exaggeration in my mind also, because the only thing it really does is keep people out of content they have no business being in in the first place.

And by the way...

Maevianiu wrote:

from here.

So this piece of info, along with everything we have seen (update notes, other players posts, etc...), leads me to even more strongly believe that there will be changes made to the amount of AAs beyond 280.

As always though...plans change, or the rate could change, so you will need to watch between now and the start of the experience bonus time in order to make the most educated decision.
