It was confusing enough last expac instead of our normal tier of 10 levels we have usually gotten through the years it was changed to start being from level 96-105. Why do we need another set of different harvest names/types again and this time for the same tier as 96-105 isn't that going to be confusing for recipes, salvaging etc? It seems a lot of unnecessary work to me.

It seems extremely futile pretty much having 3 tiers at 90-100, I bet when they bring in level increase to 105 or whatever they bring in yet another new tier, it just messes up the whole system of harvests and transmutables ect imo.

The goblin doesn't harvest anything 60+, but that's been reported already. If the ability to summon him isn't working, go respend your points and commit the aa spec (which is how I had to fix my toon when that happened).

Thalumbral Root has the same icon as a Abyssal Pelt. Probably not ideal.

i think what they want to do is ensure that you can't preharvest a ton of resources and just carry bags of em to do the latest expansion crafting quests easier.

if they keep doing this they should just change the descriptions of harvests, crafted equipment and recipe difficultly to:
(level range) - (tier)

cadmium ore should be (96-100) Tier 11 as should be all other harvests from altar of malice.

i'd much rather a tier system with us staying at level 100 with a signature line for the end reward used for heroics.

with tiers the level grind doesn't increase as the expansions come out and the quest lines could be balanced on the new tier's handcrafted armor that can be equipped at level100 at most.

no matter when you started when you hit 100 you can do the latest sig line for xp and prep for heroics and then grind out AA if you wish on older 96-100 content.

Everyone picks on the T11 mats for being 96-105, but the T10 harvests have the same problem - 90-100.

This isn't the first time a new xpac with no level change has brought it's own special mats either. DoV had its own dens, fish, plants, and stones used for recipes that were specific to it. ToT's just giving us a complete set of mats that are xpac-specific.

Also, the rare root (aITEM 358419574 92137536 0 0 0:[deepstone root]/a) has the icon as the rare wood aITEM -1914732626 1703819232 0 0 0:[petrified lumber]/a

And ... the rare ore aITEM 1626913430 -210020926 0 0 0:[glittervein ore]/a has the same icon as the rare soft metal aITEM 300367220 -1724614960 0 0 0:[arcannium]/a

How do people feel about the drop rates? I harvested for about 20 minutes on my harvesting character that I copied from Splitpaw, and I found a rare every minute. But maybe I just got lucky... Maybe I should buy a lottery ticket?

Given that most mastercrafted items now take 5 of a rare component instead of one, I don't think it's too frequent. It's offset by how ridiculously rare the foundations/spellshards are. Not to mention the essence of war, and if they decide to add in primordials for this tier. The frequency will also help to offset the losses we will undoubtedly take while refining. I know back on live, I lose entirely too much of my rares to high quality slag when I refine. To the point that I just stopped refining stuff.

harvest icons:
thalumbral root: looks like a pelt
petrified lumber: looks like a rare root
thaumatic material: description mentions it is intended to be for level range 96-105 compared to all other harvests 100-109.

Almost all the harvest icons are currently placeholder so expect these all to be updated during beta.

The Essence of War is a special node that you can only see at level 100 with the 2nd tab (Far Seas tab) tradeskill prestige tree. The first ability in that tree enables you to see a glowing red node that is very rare, can't be tracked, and often spawns in the huge bodies of water that encompass Tranquil Sea and Phantom Sea. They are used to make very nifty charms.

Wow, thanks, I had no idea about this. I always wondered what that first point was for and just assumed it allowed me to harvest regular rares while in TS and PS.
