Here is a consolidated list of changes coming in GU56.  I have a separate post for the Warfields, so I did not include them here.

PvP General·  When inspecting spells and abilities on PvE servers the PvP checkbox will default to unchecked.·  The PvP checkbox will only appear on an item if the PvP description differs from the PvE description.·  Moved PvP Crit Mit from its own line in the persona window to part of the tooltip for toughness.·  Increased spell-damage in PvP Combat by ~15% for all classes.·  New Stat: PvP Critical Mitigation.

  • This is critical mitigation that works only on attacks made on a player from a player.
  • Toughness provides a bonus to PvP Critical Mitigation.

·  Starting at level 30 players can go to 100% AAXP on a PvP server and have no limits on how many AA points they can spend (it used to be 1.5 * level).·  Disabling combat experience on a PvP server also disables experience gain from killing players.·  The tooltips on mitigations (physical, elemental, arcane and noxious) now includes the amount mitigated from PvP damage as well. Note: players get a slight bonus to mitigations against PvP damage and this percent includes that bonus.·  You can no longer /yell to prevent would be attackers from getting pvp credit for your death.PvP Items·  The following item effects can no longer critically hit:

  • Grave Elemental’s Affliction and its upgrades
  • Burning Affliction and its upgrades
  • Magical Affliction and its upgrades

·  Rune of Absolution now dispels all types of detrimental effects and is 5 charges.·  Pumice Stone now dispels all types of beneficial effects.·  Torrent and Pestilential Rain no longer have an unlimited range.·  Stonewill can only trigger once every 20 seconds when in PVP Combat.·  Divine Guidance now has a shorter duration rather than less triggers in PVP Combat.·  Stonewill now has reduced amounts rather than a reuse time in PVP Combat.·  Combat Expertise on the Grand Admiral’s Chain now includes “Greater” in name to distinguish it from the Admiral’s Chain proc.·  Massive Concussive Shock no longer has an unlimited range in PvP.PvP Spells and Abilities·  Assassin: Shadow Step has had its damage reduced in PVP Combat.·  Berserker: Battle Frenzy now has 10 triggers when used in PVP Combat.·  Cleric: Divine Guidance now only has 10 triggers per person in PVP Combat.·  Guardian: Improved Moderation’s PvP effect will now work and cause players you attack to target you from time to time and players attacking your groupmates to lose target from time to time.·  Guardian: Improved Moderation buff now works in PvP on groupmates.·  Flat amount damage reduction from abilities like “Battle Hardening” will only reduce a PvP attacks damage by no more than 50% and will no longer be able to reduce PvP attack damage to zero. However, this still stacks with abilities such as “Last Man Standing” so it is still possible to “fail to inflict damage” but it should not happen nearly as often.PvP Writs·  Writs have been updated to be equally rewarding across all levels.·  All writs now require 6 kills and grant 5 tokens.   PvP Merchants·  Scions of War carrying new wares are now available in all starting cities.·  All previous faction merchants have been removed and all their wares have been moved to the Scion of War marked, Discord Vintage Wares.·  Prices have been modified to allow a reachable progression in gear acquisition through each level. ·  Other then some potions, all items are Heirloom.PvP Tokens·  A single token exchange purse has been added to the Priest of Discord for Faydark, Kunark, Void and Odus tokens.·  All pre-GU53 tokens now convert to the new Discord token and you can exchange one token at a time as well. ·  A single currency will be used from now on, the Discord Token.·  All other currency can be exchanged using the Priest of Discord.·  Currency exchange rate is 1:1 and can be exchange 5 or 100 at a time. ·  The new token is heirloom and replaces the old Shattered Lands Discord token.  As such, there are no exchange bags for this tokens.PvP Potions·  Tear of Discord now provides 3 Accuracy.·  Essence of Discord now provides 3 Critical Bonus. PvP Mounts·  Disk of Chaotic Energy is now 70 speed.·  Discord's Prescient Disk is now 70 speed.·  Discord’s Enduring Disk is now 70 speed.

Happy Hunting!

  • Brand new 1st Campaign armor sets and accessories
  • Many of the accessories are based upon the currently BG-disabled RoK PvP accessories. Those adornments have had their effects adjusted and will be re-enabled for battlegrounds!
  • Each armor piece will have a pvp-only Blue adornment slot!
  • As such, we'll all be introducing 20+ new Blue adornments!
  • Battlegrounds at levels 30, 40, 50, 60, and 70 are being activated!
  • Battleground armor sets and accessories will be on sale at each of those tiers
  • Brand new open-pvp server battles for control of Antonica and Commonlands!
  • Additionally, we've internally removed the ~15% damage reduction applied to all spells in pvp combat. I'd like to once again ask for y'all to copy over to test-copy and give us feedback on the change.

Listed in BG forums by Timetravelling (Saves clicking on Olihin's link to reference it

I wish SoE had been this interested in PvP from the day they opened the servers. But all the open PvP changes do sound like a very good start on bringing Nagafen back to life.

Will the new BG armors be able to be aquired in open PvP as well. Will the old BG/open PvP armor have the blue slots?

Edit for typos

Allo!

GU56 will be hitting the test server soon, and I'd like to give y'all a brief preview of some of the exciting things that should be included:

  • Each armor piece will have a pvp-only Blue adornment slot!

Will this make OP classes even harder to kill, since they are presumably getting boosted and will be able to kill attackers faster?

Looking forward to posting parses!

Greetings,

A few changes already mentioned in the Battleground section: TIMETRAVELLING

In addition here are a few key points to look for in GU56 that impact our server:

  • Level locking enabled starting at level 30.
  • Removal of level restrictions for Achievement distribution.
  • 100% achievement bar settings prior to max level.
  • Single Currency for Open PVP, the Discord Token.
  • Warfields! Antonica and Commonlands...
  • Much more!

Please take the time to prepare your characters and thus provide feedback for the few weeks we have these on TEST-Copy.  A lot of more details to be shared in the near future and of course we expect to make modifications based on feedback.

Happy Hunting!

Olihin

Does this mean we'll be able to use all 250 AA on a low level twink, since we can't use more than 100 AA until after 70?

It does not, but it'll allow your AA expenditures on a PvP server to match those of a PvE server instead of the current restrictions.

Could we open up pvp writs to exiles?  They shouldnt be able to get updates off each other but it would bring some life back to the game if it was a viable 3rd faction.

Will the real Seliri be undeleted and restored to celebrate the most renowned level locker relishing in the glory of his native land?

This TBH. Honestly, after your performances in the battlegrounds, I'd be quite happy if they just auto-delete any toon you try to zone into BGs.

Character deletion is only an effective deterant if the characters STAY deleted.

whats the deal with the campaign armor?  Is it a new set or just the bg gear being reworked?  If it is a new set, is it going to make the bg gear obsolete and our recent bg grind pointless?  How do you obtain the campaign gear; is it bg tokens - should we be hording these tokens instead of spending them on gear that may be obsolete in the near future?  Are there any restrictions on the campaign gear -- is it only open world gear or is it useful in the bgs.

Finally with the "battlefields" opening in ant and cl - is anything being done or considered to fix/compensate for the lack of population on vox?

This TBH. Honestly, after your performances in the battlegrounds, I'd be quite happy if they just auto-delete any toon you try to zone into BGs.

This is what you say when you'd like to ignore all your proud double standards.

But obviously, the case is that SOE has had tens upon tens of discrepancies with enforcing their EULA and acting like it matters at all.

Those who exploited Perah Celsis constantly respawning (yeah, see Kander posting how he and SOE knew of people doing this) to get thousands of platinum, masters, and fabled werent penalized, rolled back, deleted, or suspended.

Those who exploited writs from the Hole (bugged from beta, going live), holding the items in a trade window to constantly obtain and complete writs until they reached level 90, weren't penalized, rolled back, deleted, or suspended.

The hundreds or THOUSANDS of platinum selling "SPAM" tells that go out every day? It's a complete joke.

If any GM was being serious about their job they could simply watch logs and instantly IP ban any character sending out those websites.

But instead? They flag them...as spam.

Section 9 of the User Agreement and Software License states no intellectual property of SOE shall be sold without their consent...but the tens/hundreds of people selling LoN loot cards for real life capital even IN the trade lobby are let to make tens and hundreds of thousands of dollars off of SOE employees' accomplishments, when SOE could be USING THAT MONEY to properly fund expanding the game's content.

The bottom line is that in the meeting held with Brenlo and customer service leads, hypocritical people like you, Valindor, Horknut, cast extreme judgment that trivialized the loyalty of players.

Instead of seeking to maintain constant credibility, employees at SOE placated laissez-faire policy, contributing to weak-minded individuals such as myself losing confidence in the significance of the end user license agreement.

Point being? If all these earlier exploiters were rolled back and suspended for a month, people wouldn't have been as willing to transmute in the battlegrounds because they would've seen SOE cared about their UAASL (user agreement and software license).

You can act like you've never lied or stolen, but then you'd just be lying and stealing a chance at common sense from the less capable.

The fact of the matter is that most people only entertain such vice when they lose confidence in the role of justice administration.

People who have committed over a grand or two into SOE, over a YEAR worth of time logged in, having written some of the most thorough player guides, and even those who were only just beginning, they don't deserve to have their loyalty trivialized.

And if you agree with the "cut off the hands of a thief" policy, then you simply show how terribly you seek to relish in tyrannical, self righteous standards full of hypocrisy and contradiction.

Players are loyal and will take rules seriously if there's actually an effort to be fair, balanced, and consistent, over being rash, radical, flippant, whimsical, and overall, lackadaisical.

The thing is? People KNOW SOE doesn't seem to care nearly that much about their legitimacy.

That's why we still have all of the above let to go on, on TOP of the tens, if not hundreds of people AFK botting Nest of the Great Egg with auto-clickers on macros that STILL allow all spells and combat arts to be linked.

That's what you call, "Welcome, freeloaders, enjoy the welfare."

People who had their characters stripped and deleted deserve to be restored with their ill-gotten gains removed. The suspension was enough to COMPLETELY put these players behind the curve on DKP and battlegrounds tokens. Just having begun to raid for the first time ever in EQ2 as my first MMO, that's now dashed.

I don't blame SOE for my chances at competitive DKP possession being botched, as I knew suspension was a risk I took when exploiting. But deletion, when ALL of the ABOVE exploits are LET TO PASS with no regard? It's totally uncalled for when SOE obviously contributed to deterioration of community faith in SOE's own vows.

Neither do I say that all of my works and loyalty should keep me from penalization, but that it is ENTIRELY wrong to minimalize and trod upon the dedication of people toward this community, especially when their rulers have had spotty reliability therein.

I agree with your questions on whether this will be an entirely new set.

Will this first campaign set require upgrading currently held pieces?

And, this "single currency for open PvP", are you saying that level 20s or 30s can obtain tokens usable for purchasing level 90 PvP gear?

Will all old tokens now convert into this new consolidated form?

So am I to take this to mean that all writs will reward 1 token now from 10-90, and that reward can be used on anything?  If so that might be one of the worst ideas I've ever heard.

Also, if PvP objectives are to be continually added to open world zones, I'd like to see offerings that aren't the cliche "territory capture, hold this item, or caoture the flag".

There are TONS of unique things that can be done.

Freeportian Gnomes, Qeynosian Koada'Dal

There can be Gnomish refining trains engineered to run off of player bodies or sacred Koada'Dalian ships blessed to harvest energy from sanctifying and redeeming corrupted corpses.

Players would have to attach tinkered chains or cast elven binds to drag the body to a pegasus-drawn wagon, or a Gnomish inflated hovercraft depot, to then drive the load for filling the train's boiler firebox or the ship's rune energizer. 6 bodies would be one shipment.

Once the train or ship made a full pass around the zone (say, Nektulos Forest & Thundering Steppes or Enchanted Lands and Zek the Orcish Wastes), four outer bases and 1 central base could all activate, requiring delivery of refined/blessed shipments to power a force field or energy cannon.

To activate the cannon or force field would require 3 hovercraft/pegasus-wagon deliveries to these auxiliary bases and 6 to the primary (18 total), wherein all opposition would be destroyed or repelled into the nearest overland zone as control is obtained and faction bonuses are awarded.

Defenders would have to maintain at least 3 deliveries fueling the outer bases and 6 in the center, and an excess could be stored in a way where attackers could steal shipments back out, to bring them to their own demolisher ship/train.

These demolisher bases of the attackers have 3 pegasus wagons or inflated hovercrafts that activate if the Gnomish refining train/sacred Koada'Dalian ship make a full pass around the zone).

Attackers would win by holding off the process for the time limit of the procession, say, 40 minutes or an hour.

At that point, if attackers won the primary goal, the ship could crash or the train could experience explosions in some of its cars, wherein the follow-up scenario would be for defenders using the 3 wagons/hovercrafts available to drag the ship or train back to its original maintenance station for repairs.

Attackers would win by holding off this process for 30 minutes (hovercraft/pegasus wagons would be snarable and travel at 60% runspeed).

If offense won this secondary objective, a mother ship or an army of clockwork menaces and helicopters would come to drag the refining train or sacred ship back to its hub, killing enemies within 80 meters with blue or red laser beams. This would take 3 minutes.

Therein, the original objective would begin anew, with the attackers receiving a bonus of their choice for the next round of the primary objective, selected upon zone entry.

If defenders won the primary goal, then the alternative secondary objective would be for attackers to bring 1 destructive shipments to these outer bases and 2 to the central, with the time limit also being 30 minutes here (defenders would win if progression was halted for that long).

If offense won, then the bases would be destroyed, but an army of Koada'Dalian ships or clockwork menaces/helicopters/dragons would come to destroy the attackers present at these bases and repair them.

And again, the primary objective would reset with the restoring army taking 3 minutes to repair bases and restart the primary objective, where the victorious faction could choose a bonus of their choice upon zone entry.

Sorely displeased am I with the idea that thou would seek to makest a lie against the very Gnome of Gnomes, purporting postulation that he could be owned...

purporting: to present, esp. deliberately, the appearance of being; profess or claim, often falsely: a document purporting to be official.
postulation: to assume without proof, or as self-evident; take for granted.
Big words mean little when you do not use them correct.

Uhm...that was perfect usage, but thanks.

what tier is the battlefields going to be?  is it for everyone or just t2-3? what about the lvl restrictions for ant and cl? 4 is weak it should at least be 10 if t9 is being moved there.

oh and for the love of god disable the guild flags on the pvp servers.

I'd also suggest to make all instances into contested dungeons, as that'd bring back the level locking spirit that the craze knew in Antonica and Commonlands in Stormhold and Fallen Gate.

But, if pandering to PvE carebearisms precedes prioritizing open world PvP, then I think keeping the instances but having contested versions of each instance would be better than nothing.

If players chose to enter "(Contested)" over "(Instanced)", dungeons that scale would automatically force players to enter the contested version of their tier.

So, levels 50-59 would enter zone's scaled for 55, 60-69 would enter zone's scaled for 65, 70-79 would enter zones scaled for 75, 80-89 would enter zones scaled for 85, and 90s would enter...zones scaled for 90s.

Also, I sincerely hope this update is coupled with the removal of fame decay while offline and the inclusion of the old fame/notoriety/infamy system with fame gains/losses based upon 1 rank above, below, or on par with your own.

Players cherish being able to build PvP titles on alternative characters, and the longevity/cyclical value of this pastime is lost with offline fame decay.

Having fame loss/gain occur only from 1 PvP title ranked above, below, or on par with your own also supports the niche hobby of...the fame hunt!

This was always very appealing to vie for once a player is geared out...as now, many players gear out and just resort to PvE with their gameplay hours, whereas they used to contribute to the active fame hunt with roaming, group vs group PvP spread throughout the overland realms.

I also agree with disabling guild strategist flags on PvP servers, and instead, changing them into an automatic track lock on 3 enemies in overland zones.
