Honestly I doubt this although they do need it. Both times I talked to CS I was not impressed. Great idea. How about hiring some GMs that know and play the game (ie outside of Sony people) and are actually wiling to help players out with problems. /volunteer

Scott, I'm a Sr. Programmer at a Fortune 500 company on Wall St, and am looking to "expand my wings". I am proficient in many languages. My concentration, however, is C & C++ server programming. I have developed an entire object-oriented client/server environment and have experience in extremely high volume (go go the stock market) traffic. Unfortunately, I have an intellect, and I'd actually create new raid mobs that aren't just copy+paste the attributes of old mobs. I'd also get the loot tables correct before expecting my fans (the customers) to pay for a new expansion. Yes, I know, there are deadlines, and we'd need to meet them. See, I'm used to it. NASDAQ & NYSE put updates that I must conform to, and do (of course :smileyhappy:). If not, I think I could get fired :smileysad:. See, where I work, when I mess up, I'm held accountable for it. Looking at your business model, your mix seems good, as, even if I mess up, it is ok as the customers expect it! Also, I would work diligently at making sure the new content my user base was using wasn't affected by the changes I made. I'd also be sure to include every aspect of their experience in my final product. After all, they are the customer. Finally, and I hope this doesn't affect my appliction, but, I do not have A.D.D.. Why do I mention this? Well, it seems that all SoE employees feel the urge to re-invent the game they're working on every few months (albeit they put a good spin on it, i.e. New Game Enancements, Combat Upgrade 2, etc). I admit, I can't get things completely right the first time, but, with your continued deposits into my checking account, I can string along the users like the best of them! Isn't that all what SoE is about after all? P.S. Thanks for SE! It helped me pay the bills! Also, when I get hired, can you have Moorguard teach me his ways of answering a question without actually answering a question? I know the users love it when they see a red name show up, even if the reply doesn't say anything (go go Moorguard!) Oh crap, this was meant to be a PM :smileysad:

I notice you didn't mention that part, Stevai, but I thought I would since Scott would be missing out if he dismissed your post due to thinking it was a smart-[expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] joke. I was surprised to see you even had an interest in EQ2, San Diego. Good luck with whomever picks you up. Oh and Scott, he did our EQ2 videos with a few hours of playing around with fraps with no clue, so if you think he's just tooting his horn, take a look below. And he's an exceptional raider. He probably knows your game better then .. um.. "most". I'd keep him away from talking to the public though. :smileytongue: |

![]() The secret is, you need to obtain a critical mass of Canucks at an existing MMO shop, and then go to the bean counters and say "you know, you would save all this money if we didn't have to keep renewing all these visa's...." then BOOM incoming Canadian Development shop. ![]() |

Well Scott, Just got out of the Marines and now I am working to finish the grand ol` college thing and to spruce up a nice little demo to show off. I do plan to make it another goal of mine to work for SOE. So, while I may not have the credentials now -- I will see you in the future.

![]() Evening, everyone. Really short update this time. So far, this thread has led to two new hires. Keep them coming -- I'm more than happy to continue forwarding resumes to other teams as well. (Even the submissions that were less than serious, they were at least entertaining. ![]() This is a stellar community. Period.

I was on board Camden (AOE-2). A supply ship, which was a great place for me since I was an SK. (No not a shadow Knight.) Wondering what the job requirements are to be a in game GM. That would be a sweet job.

![]() It's become painfully apparant to those of us that USED to kick back in the general chat room that the GMs are gone, poofed, vanished, and no word on what happened. For about a week after they poofed Japanese chat still had TWO GMs of course I was the only member wandering thru. I asked about it and was of course completely ignored. Then today Japanese chat is no longer offered in the list of chats. Guess the Japanese GMs got tired of all the people wandering in and asking about where have all the chat GMs gone. All the chat rooms are moderated, so players with knowledge of the game can't even help the newbies that may be trying Trial of the Isle for the first time. I have to wonder how many newbies are trying out EQ2 for the first time as we count down to Christmas and are looking for help, or advise in the chat rooms and finding nothing but moderated, GMless rooms, are doing uninstall and crossing of EQ2 from their to buy for xmas list? I also wonder how many of us of The Loyal suffixes are feeling once again that SOE doesn't give squat about it's players but just about the subscriptions? So what happened to the chat GMs? Sony going to be hiring any? Hmmm enquiring minds want to know before DDO goes live. THis may not be the right place to post this but seriously where else is there? Speaking of GM's, do you have them anymore or are they contracted out? I never see any CSR jobs listed on your job pages.

Yeah, if you want to still live in Canada while working in the video game industry you'd be better off living in Montreal. My gut just twisted up thinking about that. /ducks |

![]() Morning, folks. This thread's due for an update. The total's now at three SOE hires out of the community, and we couldn't be happier about it. EQ2 is still looking for another experienced client/graphics/rendering programmer (as are a couple other projects). There's also a pretty specalized programming position floating around for someone who also has a passion for sound design and music. (Note that it's an programming job working with sound and music -- Not a sound and music job for someone who dabbles in programming .) I've floated a few resumes to other teams as well, so if there are any fits here, please continue to PM me. When we hire the people who are the most passionate about our games, everyone wins.
Good hunting, - Scott

![]() Not to dig, but what is the Customer Service/Community Relations like at the moment there? I have a solid background in that area, and have been looking for things that interest me within those confines. EQ2 being a huge interests, I would devour a chance to work in that area. To boot, my family and I have been debating the idea of a Connecticut to California move and such an opportunity could tip my scale so to speak!

![]() Top-ten interview-statements that won't land you that dream SoE job: *drum-roll*... 10: "Well, my dad ran the film projector at each School Assembly... so you can say I'm born into Media Arts!" 9. "Move to San-Diego? Is that like close enough to 'Universal Studios?' Yeah, I like to 'think big' for my future!" 8. "You guys don't know how to properly draw cat-people. I draw cat-people. Hire me and I'll show you how!" 7. "Is this like... for a real job? Really? Do people actually work for a living where we play these games? Dooood!" 6. "Hiring an artist?? Well, I doodled on all my notebooks in school. What do you think of these scribblings....?" 5. "Okay, you caught me. I really only came out here to interview just to meet the 'Stuff Magazine' Antonia-winner!" 4. "3DMax?? That is sooooo yesterday. Run Poser instead! Have you seen what some people can do with Poser??" 3. "Psssssst! Just between you and me? How'd he get a name like, "Smedley" anyway? *snicker* 2. o/` "Ever-Quest is my liiiife...Ever-Quest is my liiiiiife! La-la-la-la-laaa-... it - is - my - Liiiiiiiiiiiiiife!" o/` And the Number One thing NOT to say at an SoE Job Interview: 1. "So like, if you hire me?
