Tradeskills in EQII are different enough for me that I'm not quite sure yet. Any reccomendations?

Go through the Tradeskill tutorial quest line and find the one that you find interesting, either from the process or products made

I took my defiler (first toon, one I'll come back to eventually) to about level 19 in tradeskills. It's fun but that seems like a long road that I'm not sure I want to commit to just yet. I'm hoarding materials for that future day. SMILEY

Every 20 levels, you get more powerfull counters, so even if the 19 first levels are hard, at 20 it starts to get better. And Domino added some marvellous questlines along the way that sure help a lot. *Points at her signature for a tradeskill walkthrough* er... only if you know french. *points at eq2traders instead* well, you know it already I'm sure ;p

Beware, hoarding is bad! Packrats are ebil! And they eat your cheese!

I took my defiler (first toon, one I'll come back to eventually) to about level 19 in tradeskills. It's fun but that seems like a long road that I'm not sure I want to commit to just yet. I'm hoarding materials for that future day.

I'm a huge fan of creating dozens of characters (loved it when character slots became available in the Marketplace!), but will limit myself to only 9 per server: one for each of the tradeskills.  If you're not in a guild yet, and/or don't have a regular large group with all the tradeskills covered, it's not a bad idea, IMHO.  And the tradeskill tutes, etc. are all very similiar until the point where you have to make a decision.

One word of advice from a long-term (from EQ1 as well) player friend of mine: if you go with something like Armorer, Tailor, Weaponsmith, or Woodworker for your own gear, try to keep your crafter level 10 above your adventurer level; that way, you have everything you might need covered.

I "only" have 3 characters on Antonia Bayle (though that may change, if I have to ah--shift--some for...other reasons), and if you only want to juggle a few, I'd suggest a Tailor for bags, a Carpenter for strong boxes (and housing goodies!!), and a Provisioner for food/drink; that last largely because NPC vendor stuff is pretty useless and player-made stuff on the Broker is really expensive. ;->

Another thought: look at your AA stuff and see what your race(s) are getting perks for being good at every 10 levels: trolls for provisioning, ratongas for alchemy, etc.

Also, this way, you won't "have" to keep your tradeskilling up (Provisioners have a WIDE range of levels that their food/drink can "last" before going "bad" [= grey], and can just support your local Armorers, Weaponsmiths, and Woodworkers (aka AWW; also Jewelers, Alchemists, and Sages [JAS]). ;->

Uwk

P.S. EQ2Traders.com is a good site for help!  I rely on it muchly. --U.

You've been the Community Manager for LoN for a while now, that seems to have gone nowhere. How can we trust that it isn't going to be a lot of the same here?

Hey--at least this is way better than the usual 6-pack Knight you usually see on Facebook pictures.  This took Skill and Cunning!  I mean, at least, I *think* it did...

I took a day off. When I got back there was an email saying "Oh hey, we're having a contest in our department to see who builds the best tinfoil hat. There's a SC card for the winner". I'm competitive and I like SC so I knew who was gonna win that sucker.

I didn't realize it would also involve pictures taken and shared with the community. Probably my fault there. I'd still have gone all out, I do love me my SC, although I might not have made quite as odd a face. Live and learn I guess, who knew dwarves were as tricksy as elves.

I've sort of been out of the loop since getting sick of SOE sneking blocks into the market but not letting crafters make them... that and prosieben stealing all my European friends and stuff... Oh and stealing our meatbeast pets... or and merging servers that were full.... and some other things.

My question to the lunchmeat.... I mean CM... Uhhhh, did Amnerys quit? Why exactly are you in this position?

Hello Piestro --

Welcome to post-Shattering Norrath.

As a former EQ player, I can say from experience that the adventuring is fairly similar to the pre-Shattering version. Not identical, but similar enough that the transition shouldn't be too difficult.

The crafting, however, is quite different.

Crafting is just about equally as long as adventuring. If you're willing to embark upon that road, and do it multiple times no less, then traveling the crafting path at least once should not be too overwhelming!

Here, unlike "Classic" EQ, we get a lot of quests that we can do to help us level up our characters' crafting skills faster. It's probably easiest to do the crafting quests while you're also growing in adventuring, so that the local fauna is not splattering you all over the countryside.

Zam can be helpful, but I find my biggest sanity-saver is Denmum's site at eq2.eqtraders.com -- might want to take a peek there, too, if you're at all willing to explore that half of the game.

I made the mistake of counting recently, and discovered I have 60 alts spread across 5 servers and a couple different accounts. Denmum talks about her "3-account alt army" (though she hasn't given a count). Cloudrat may have even more characters than I do.

We all do crafting, as do many other players.

I'd expect that if we can do tradeskills, then you can too. *grins* In some cases, people craft more than they adventure. So sampling crafting should be part of thoroughly learning EverQuest II, if that is your ambition.

And remember... name of the game is EverQUEST (not EverRaid... it's not about bug spray! )

Anyhow, welcome to EQII. Hope you enjoy it here among us.

PS -- I'd recommend Warden over Fury. Wardens have the option to improve melee abilities, giving them more flexibility. And then either tailor (for clothing and backpacks) or Carpenter (bank boxes and Decorating!!) as ways to explore crafting.

As a fellow Halfling (FOR LIFE!) I welcome you. Halflings make great healers, but I've never enjoyed druids (just my own thing, I tried, I really did!) so I went with a mystic and love it. She's a spitfire in her chainmain bikini top and giant 2h hammer to smash heads in!

Maybe Pietro is just saving up for that victorian inspired hotpink gold-laced princess dress they are putting on the marketplace next month... should look amazing on the little folks.

I like SC too, spending them all on ethernaut booster packs in hopes of one of the housing licenses my toons do not have :p

The fact that people are still lamenting about SC amazes me.  That train left the station (no pun intended) ages ago.  I think we can all agree that there are bigger and better boogeymen to joust at now, can't we?

Welcome to the Jungle, Pietro.  Nice to have you here.

HUGGS!!!!! Wecome to the EQ2 family Piestro As a fellow smaller race I can sympathise with ya. I'm fortunate that people don't want to eat me (poor Halflings), but I have racked up loads of frequent flyer miles with the Gnome Punting sign taped to my back.

Between end game raiding, questing, crafting, decorating & all the other wonderful events that are going on there is much for entertainment.

I'd go Templar over a Druid. Templar's are win! As for crafting...carpenter is an awsome way to go. Comes in handy if/when ya go to decorate.

So...um...is going from EQ to EQ2 a promotion or a demotion (just kidding)? Again welcome to the Community & may you have safe travels through Norrath.

Welcome Piestro!

I have a long line of little people...  mostly gnomes though. But I'm married to a halfling....  our children are quarterlings.

I made a halfling defiler - mostly just so I could have a halfling defiler.

Welcome, Piestro! Don't let the hard times get you down, please. I welcome anyone brave enough to step up to the act of CM - this place isn't the most welcoming. I apologize that I don't much care for the shorter races...but I like you right now, so that says something. You're in for a difficult time, so if I may be frank...Mystic. Defiler is nice enough but ... as a former raid healer, Mystic kicks *ss. Anyway, good luck in your role, I envision great success and fun in EQ2 for you. - Sharafi, former raid Mystic.
