I liked in the patch notes that Frostburn was now going to work better with mutagenic burst!   I thought to myself "Alright!  Maybe now that earring will actually be good again, and worth all the dkp I spent on it!"  But nope, there are still 2 issues with the frostburn proc.

1) it is broken, and still acts exactly like mutagenic burst, in how much damage it adds.

2) Even if it gets fixed, the 50% damage boost is just plain not enough of a boost to make it worthwhile.   Considering mutagenic burst gives 33%, Frostburn is only 17% more, nowhere near as good as being an independent proc like we all originally thought.

I'd suggest raising the burst damage increase by either 75%, instead of 50 would make this item more desireable.   Also fixing the proc would too!

But all in all, thanks for at least doing something to try to improve this item and it's proc.

You sure it's adding the same amount?

Examine your Mutagenic Burst item and note the damage.Wear that item and again note the damage (should have increased its own damage by 33% when worn). Now remove it and wear the Frostburn item. Again examine the MB item. The damage should be higher than when the MB item was worn. Now wear both and examine the damage. It should be higher than either was individually.

If it's not functioning this way, please let me know what it is doing at each step in the method I described above.

I'm not able to get in game at the moment so don't have the numbers right in front of me anymore, but this is what I saw specificly:

My buddy has 3 different mutagenic burst items.   I have 2 mutagenic burst items plus 1 frostburn item.   He and I have the same damage from mutagenic burst listed, (actually the damage was within like 6 points, due to some of the mutagenic burst pieces offering a very slightly different amount of damage).

Specifically the 2 mutagenic burst item I use at the moment are Burning Lavastud, and Grunblig's Black alloy belt (spelling?)

I can post more specific numbers when I get home tonight, but hopefully that info is helpful at least.

It works correctly if you only use 2 items.

Where the problem seems to be is 3+ items.

If you're using 3 items in any combination all burst or burst plus frostburn it is hardcapping at 855 burst damage.

This continues no matter if you are wearing 3 4 5 or 6 items in any combination of burst and frostburn the damage never increases again.

The damage bonus caps out at +100%, so if you wear 2 x 33% and a 55%, you're over the cap and will gain the same amount as if you were wearing 3 x 33%.

So is it possible for you to make credible item descriptions instead of making us take multiple items that don't function as described?

It might as well just double the damage. It still would not be as good as 2 separate procs, but people might actually wear 2 burst items.

Again this almost completely negates the entire point of you boosting the item in the first place.   There are tons of mutagenic burst items in the game already.  This effect type should NOT have a cap, that was the point of having speciifc items that contribute to one proc and modify it by direct means, so you can toss on all your mutagenic burst gear and seriously boost it up alot!

And I'm gonna go back to an old argument here and further emphasize that Frostburn and Mutagenic burst are REALLY not the same proc at all.  Having Frostburn now is actually a DISADVANTAGE as it's proc chance is stuck at 10%, while mutagenic burst is a modifiable percentage.  So Tossing on my Frostburn earring now doesn't give my ANY more damage, and it actually lowers my proc chance.   Frostburn is actually a nerf to mutagenic burst, NOT a boost.

Please just do the right thing here and make it a separate proc.   Spock would tell you it is the only logical solution.

Can you please clarify the reasoning for how this is an epic x 4 credible drop?  Since it takes 3 pieces to cap damage whether you have this piece or not and for all intensive purposes it's the exact same item as one that I obtained from a zone that I ran daily with just a boxed cleric behind myself.  Without making this a separate proc....   I'm sorry between this and the avatar gear you guys make it real hard to give constructive criticism.

3 mutagenic items gives 99% boost so it's like 851 points or so.  The cap of 100% is 855.  Was the cap always there and it was jsut harder to achive?  I have 5 mutagenic burst items and was working on my 6th one, FARMING FARMING FARMING the hell out of the undead jester on a daily basis.  I do not recall what the amoun twas when I had all 5 equiped, but had I achieved the 6th piece I would of been able to tell.  I am wanting to say that it was more around 910 or so but cannot confirm this.

So now it seems as though a person only needs to have a few pieces to make any additional piece come down to a choice of armour slot.

If the cap were in place before the increase to the smg boost %'s, was it there to limit the procs dammage pre proc nerf?  And since the proc nerf went into effect, should the cap not have been removed at that time?

Just a few questions..
