T'was the nights before Frostfell, and alls through the flat

Not a creatures was stirring, except fors one rat.

As I's looked overs snowglobes, from goblins quite square,

And why they's so small? They cans be big as me

Or even...well, bigs as a tree!

Thus begins my quests, sure to drives someones batty

(Or at leasts one someones, my wingedy builders catty)

Now we gots lotses of snowglobes, big ones and small

Even somes that seems likes they don't fit a'tall

All kinds of things insides will we shows

Includings some peoples...you just might knows.

So comes to Freeport servers, under 'Massive Homes' you'll sees

And don't forgets to looks at books here, written by...well, mes!

Hopefullies yous find this fun, I's sure nots wants to bore ya

Come on by, we'll keeps the light on for ya!

((Correction...now under Hall of Fame!))

It took quite awhile! My first time making circular structures like that...still say it's typical me, what do I do for my very first time using the circle tool in Jessdyr's layout editor? No little circles on the ground, no...I make a see-thru globe so tall you could die jumping off it without Safe Fall...

Thanks! Those aren't pics of everything, mind, the castle globe (the mega-huge one) you can go inside...had to have at least one like that.

Very impressive!!

And yes, the perfect way to deal with lazy slacking Qho. Keep him locked up for some time and just give us the poney

Ah, would that that would work... I admit it, five ponies among various alts, and the idea of going for a sixth (heck, getting them for all 9 of my level 90+ tradeskillers) makes me shudder...

Somebody asked me just how big the castle globe (or as I called it during building, the 'giant golf ball' ) is...worked up some visual aids here, first one with our house-owner...

Keep in mind Cookiecrumbs is only about three feet tall...still, you can see that the sucker is BIG.

I'd guesstimate (lacking an in-game tape measure) that it's about 40 Cookies tall...there's a measurement convention for ya, the Cookie Scale. nom nom nom...so perhaps around 120 feet tall, give or take a Ratonga. From side to side at the base, maybe 80 feet? Not sure there. Here's a view from on top (I've put in a teleport pad on top of it, so people can get the grand 'skyview' ):

Yes, that little speck up there is Cookie again. One more shot...this one taken while floating down from the top island...

I believe 138 polished ice squares went into the construction of it, mostly with Quickpaw balancing on a tile way up in the air (yes, the image in the first post was snapped during initial construction, before building the castle inside). The base (bases of all the globes, actually) are sumac bookcases, placed face-down and arranged using Jessdyr's layout editor. Persnickety process all the way around, no question, but without the layout editor I'm sure it would've been a whole lot worse.

Quick count for those interested (why I dunno, but somebody might be interested!)...406 polished ice tiles (wow, I used that many?) used throughout the island, for the 10 globes, 82 snow squares (from the grottos, of course), 135 sumac bookcases, 73 river rock hearths for the castle (including the four that are IN the castle)...and around 180 player-made notebooks, for decorating some of the globe bases as well as for Cookie's labelling of them all.

So no complaints that I could've done more to decorate the island itself I know, rather wanted to, I had visions of making lighted paths with the fairy lights leading visitors to every spot...but the globes are the stars of the show, they had to be as good as I could make 'em.

Probably a bit gauche to bump my own thread...just had to share this, however.

"I wants to thanks the academy, ands the awards committees, ands Grandmamas Crumbs, ands..."

Island of the Snow Globes is no longer under 'massive' homes...it's under Hall of Fame!

Thankee. It's amazing how a...rather silly idea, really, can turn into something absolutely crazy SMILEY It really was just something that came to me during Frostfell...'Can I make my own snowglobes?' And of course the very first one I try is the ginormous 'golf ball'.
