The title says it all.

Having to un-maximize my game, close it manually, and re-maximize is not a good option because half the time you switch to full screen the game crashes.

It apparently does it on its own after 15 minutes... but imo that's entirely too long.

Make it a checkbox to close or not and the auto close needs to happen instantly.

It doesn't auto close on either of my PC's. Even after the game is running for 8+ hours. When I log off, its still there. (assuming I dont crash within that 8 hours)

Ah've never noticed any problems with it not auto-closing

I've never noticed close either. Maybe because I play in widnowed mode but IDK. I just quit using it and go strait into the game unless it needs patching.

It's supposed to autoclose?  It doesn't on either of my computers, playing in windowed mode.  I thought that it stayed open so they could advertise at you.

Start in windowed mode , close it after the game runs , ALT-ENTER to go full screen ...when you're ready to log out...ALT-ENTER back to windowed mode ready for next time , problem solved.

Or just do what I do....run the game through everquest2.exe and only run the launchpad when an update is needed.

yes do that as well. run the patcher and then close it after it's done then start the everquest2.exe.

I don't know why it isn't closing for some of you. A dev said it is supposed to do so. It does for me. I play in windowed mode on W7 64 bit.

Believe it or not, some of us prefer it to stay open.  If you have more than one account and you're in the habit or switching from one to the other, you like not having to re-start the launcher.  You simply click on the upper right and switch accounts, which saves having to wait for the launcher to reload.

That's why they created "/camp login", a while back.

I closes for me. I've never bothered to pay attention to how long it takes, but 15 minutes seems pretty accurate. It's annoyed me a few times, actually, because I'd tab out of the game to launch my other account and have to re-launch the launcher.

As far as I'm concerned, the safest, most resource-friendly (assuming the anecdotes of the launcher causing memory leaks are true) way to run multiple accounts is to use the patcher to update the game once a day, and use a shortcut to Everquest2.exe as your preferred way to actually launch the game itself.

If you're going to switch from Account A to Account B without running two at once, then '/camp login' makes the most sense.

No one should have to do some BS work around to get by this.

If your a boxer and running launcher again annoys you, then maybe do the run eq2.exe trick people are saying. The majority of players DONT box mutliple EQ2 accounts. A lot of people's PC's couldn't handle two EQ2's as many players barely handle 1 at mediocre graphic settings.

Don't make people work around this. FIX IT PLEASE

Actually the only thing I believe is "broke" is that the launchpad eventually crashes and disappears, when I'm still switching between accounts checking on my characters

A simple checkbox below the Play button labelled "... and close launchpad" would be enough

You don't have to wait for the main game window to be seen before closing the launcher.

I click the play button, and then immidiately I click the X to close the launcher.

The game starts just fine.

I triple this.   My pc's resources are limited.  Sounds like some people have it close.  I run with WinXP and it never closes on its own for me.

Then close it yourself, you have a few seconds (up to a minute+) before the game actually loads giving you plenty of time if it's really a problem for you

We do.

Thing is, they said quite some time ago that they were going to fix it so that it DID auto close, because that's what it was originally supposed to do but they had to fix another bug first.

http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=509966

"My only issue is not being able to tell it to close once game launches. Call me odd but I don't like it sitting in the background no matter how little resources/bandwith it uses unless someone can tell me where I missed the setting to actually tell it to close?"

This is a temporary condition to work around a problem the LaunchPad has in how it handles game sessions.  As soon as that is finished (probably next week at this point), it will go back to closing automatically for you.

I play windowed mode and have the same problem with the DCUO launcher, I guess SoE doesn't know how to make it auto close regardless of the game.

Reading comprehension is a wonderful thing.  At no time did I say I close one account to open the other.  Camping is out of the question if you want to have both accounts going at the same time.

Edit: As for the launcher being a resource hog, that's an exageration.  The launcher it self has a very small footprint.

Ah've never had that problem with DCUO (getting past the character select and into the game again is another matter entirely: can create new characters, can run around the ship, but have not been able to get back into the actual game since Valentines Day)

Having the launchpad stay open tongiht was convenient for me: had logged in to get the free gifts and then logged back to character select for awhile as wasn't ready to actually play, after awhile lost connection to the server and had to re-start the game again, and haven't the Launchpad still up meant ah just had to hit the [PLAY] button (and this time the launcher closed shortly after getting back into the game)

Indeed, reading comprehension IS a wonderful thing. At no time did you say you were trying to two-box. In fact, to read the bolded, one could reasonably infer that you were trying to switch from account A to account B.

While I don't have time to catch it before the game starts, yes I go to window mode and close it out.  However, it has to be a bug.  The advertisements are continuing to cycle away, even though no one can possibly viewing them while the game is being played.  Although, I suppose someone could have EQ windowed  small so they could play the game and watch the ads, LOL.
