Location: Crushbone server , multiple MMCEs listed on boards

So I finally started working on the actual castle to go along with many of the other Potter themed places I've done. My first attempt was pretty bad. I tried doing the whole castle in one zone and it ws lacking so much in content and detail. So, I decided to break up the project into multiple houses that can be finished over time in hopes to do each area a bit more justice.  So far, just the Entry Hall (portal hub) and the Dining Hall are complete, but I thought I'd share it now since it'll be forever before I finish the project as a whole.

Here's an overview of the portals currently set up off of the Entry Hall hub and where I hope to go with the project as it grows.

The Entry Hall

the entry hall staircase

looking back at the entry doors. House mascots on display to the sides. Please excuse the ugly "lion", maybe someday we'll have a realy lion plushie *crosses fingers*

one side on lower level. Stairs/portal down to kitchens and Hufflepuff common room. Statues of magical brethren and transfiguration. Display case holding replicas of Slytherin's locket and Ravenclaw's diadem.

Other side of lower level with stairs down to the castle dungeons, Slythering common room and potions class. Statues of magical figures in history and a display case holding replicas of Hufflepuff's chalice and Gryffindor's sword.

One side of the upstairs hall with entry door to the dining hall. This portal is currently open. Tunnel at end of hall with portal connection to the North Astronomy tower.

Other side of the upstairs hall with Quidditch memorabelia including house cup, ball sets, brooms, ring replica and pictures of legendary beaters and a seeker. Tunnel at end of hall leading to portal for the Second floor corridor to hospital and headmaster's office.

Exterior connection walkway with view of the extending castle. Part of the view that originally sold me on building here and why it takes a bit to load the zone.

The grand staircase tower with multiple portal connections off of it. Looking up.

Lower part of staircase with doors out to Herbology greenhouses.

One of the staircase landings has a portrait concealing passage to the Gryffindor common room. You'll need a password please to enter though.

The Dining Hall

This is so awesome that anything I could say would not be enough to describe how awesome this is. I especially love what you did with the night-sky thing you got goin' on in one of those hallways. Reallly nice.Did you make that "view" yourself, or was that done already? The view you see when you look outside.

Wow Afista this is amazing! It really does feel like Hogwarts! I love the big cathedral window in the dining hall!  How in the world did you get the cross hatch effect with the smaller lines?

Thanks guys!

Eliohia - Glad your boys like it! My daughter (who's 3) loves to run a character around in there and visit "Harry's Castle" hehe

The smaller windows with the "H"s in them are done with the Thexian Wine Racks. The large window at the back was done with the edges of black marble tiles. Originally I tried using wine racks there too, but the item size wouldn't render graphics at the zone-in point near the doorway. The larger tiles make it visible though.

That's actually Castle Mistmoore in the background. In the MMCE, if you go out onto the balcony and look way up, the castle sits directly above the house zone. You can teleport pad/climb way up to get the view. You just can't get too close to the castle, there is an item 'freeze point' where things won't place beyond the gorge up there.

This is absolutely amazing! I also found the castle view to be stunning, such a great discovery! I've had the itch lately to make some Potter themed dungeons, definitely an inspirationSMILEY

This is wonderful!

I have to see that in person and once the servers are back  I make a new char and just bought a char slot.

I loved the books, loved the movies and I love this creation. I already saw so many details I want to check out closely.

The view back to the castle looks wonderful.

Greetings Mu!

This....is....beautiful!! And it's on the same server I'm on *hurray!!* I can't wait to get home from work so I can log in to come see it in person. Afista are you the same person that did the Quidditch pitch and other connected Harry Potter themes?

Thanks SMILEY Yeah, that's me! A couple are just listed under random alt names on my hubby's acct because I didn't have any more houses hehe I've got the Ministry of Magic, Diagon Alley, Number 12 Grimmauld Place and the Quidditch Pitch open right now. (and 1 extremely easy dungeon) Although the pitch might get redone at some point. It was when I was just learning how to edit mid-project, so the seating framework is pretty choppy in some areas and the towers are at varying heights.

Very awesome.  Projects like these are what make the designers in this game miles above players in other games.  And what keeps me here.  SMILEY

What house is it originally? I can't tell. . . or did you build it all yourself?

Hello,

so I went there in person and I am very impressed about the building. I am not yet that far in using the editor to build something like this, well I don't dare yet I guess.  It looks very authentic and  I am keen to open the other doors. What I like most is the clever set up of the display cases and I will certainly steal this idea, as I was looking for nice display cases  since a long while  but was not happy with what I created so far. The table with the hat is adorable =)

Greetings Mu!

Thank you all so much for the kind comments. I was very hesitant to actually start this particular project to go with the other themed places I did because I was most worried about messing this one up. I'm very grateful it's being received well ~HUGS~

quiarrah wrote:

They are done as break-outs from a Mistmoore Crags Estate. The entry hall is up in the air above where the balcony is from the main home wince it needed the view of castle Mistmoore. The dining hall was down on the beach level since there's no view to show.
