says update complete but the play box is greyed out and under that has a button that says download and when i click it nothing happens

The reason why your play button is grey out is your download isn't done downloading. The possible reasons why it isn't done is due to an Antivirus, firewall from the router or the computer, and possibly other softwares on your system conflicting with your game. Try running a clean boot: To disable background programs: 1.Select the START button. 2.Select RUN. 3.Type in "msconfig" (without the &quot 4.Press OK 5.Select the STARTUP tab. 6.In the list, uncheck all boxes EXCEPT for SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY. If you use Windows XP, please note that SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY will not be listed - just uncheck the entire list. 7.Hit apply and then OK. Restart the computer and try the game again.  I'm having a similar problem...

I was playing fine up to about an hour ago, and took a break. Trying to go back in via Launchpad, after verifying the files there is ONE file downloaded - XPTI.DAT. That is then verified and the PLAY button and is permanently greyed out as 'Updating'  but it's doing nothing.

Like the user above, i have a 'Download' link just below and clicking this re-downloads XPTI.DAT, but still stalls after verifying it.

Loading without the patcher (Everquest2.exe) works fine...

I would have a look at that file TSR's...

Same thing happens on mine, I'm going to try reinstalling the eq2 launcher or whatever.  Someone posted this link: http://everquest2.station.sony.com/en/install/ EDIT:  Just tried it, didn't work.  This is somewhat annoying.  I was playing fine last night, this afternoon after the "patch" I thought the servers were still down since it did this.  Since it appears they aren't still down, the "patch" borked my game as well, and I don't have the discs anymore since I moved.  Please send a patch to fix your...patch.  Thanks EDIT 2:  Just the UAC on vista for me screwing up.  Please talk with MS about being able to update your game without having to disable the UAC every single patch
