Greetings SOE fans.

Going to start this as a courtesy to the Sony staff.

You have many choices in Las Vegas when you decide to attend SOE Live?

Transportation, Hotel, Food, other events and shows.

First thing I recommend is to start reading the Las Vegas Newspaper online editons.

Please be respectful of the professional relationship that SOE has made with Bally's.

Your money is important to you and how you spend it in Las Vegas in your own bussiness.

Geographicaly Las Vegas is spilt between San Diego and Austin we all benifit from this because Sony has a buget also and can bring more staff.  With the long term planning to make an event like SOE Live work good deals can be made for all expenses.

Your personal expenses can be planned now also, package deals in Las Vegas are really not easy to beat any where else in the USA.  You can buy your SOE Live pass and stay where you like and eat where you like.

There are many attractions around Las Vegas worth getting rental car also.

Some of my old guildmates claimed to live near Las Vegas could any locals post some personal opinions of the local area attractions.

Seen a report on tv news about a new machince gun range in the city with automatic weapon rentals.

http://lasvegasgunrange.net/Welcome.aspx

Is this place for real?

Yes it's real. There's billboards for it all over Vegas.

For nature people there's Red Rock Canyon on the west side of Vegas, you'll need a rental car though. And there's Springs Preserve (fun for the kids!)

For everyone else there's lots to do in Vegas, but if you want to get away from the strip, I'd recommend getting a rental.

Devlyn;

Thank you for posting in this thread.

I have been to Fan Faire twice and hope to get to the first SOE Live event also; if I can get vacation at that time.

From the time of my first Fan Faire I have been hooked on Las Vegas and read the newspapers there on line often; not the same as being there.

If anyone has information or experience to share about travel or the Las Vegas area or SOE events please share with me here. The point of this is give the Sony folks a chance to focus on the event while we discuss peer to peer our own Sony history and expectations on this event and Las Vegas.  SOE can work with Bally’s and we as players can work with each other in a respectful manor.

Thanks and good hunting.

Very Fun for the Foodies out there!  The Buffet of Buffets 24 Hour Pass allowes you access to 7 differents casino buffets within a 24 hour period.

*Regular price $49.99. $44.99 for TR customers and customers who purchase Buffet of Buffets pass online with room reservation. Valid at participating buffets at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino Las Vegas, Paris Las Vegas, Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, Flamingo Las Vegas, Harrah’s Las Vegas or Imperial Palace Las Vegas only. Gratuity not included. Not valid at Bally's Sterling Brunch.

Last year we arrived on Thursday morning and after dropping off our bags, our first stop was the Rio Buffet.  Be sure to get a Total Rewards Card, it gives you a $5 discount and then you just swipe your card at the other buffets.  We didn't realize there would be a light meal at the Opening Ceremonies of Fan Faire, so we weren't to hungry for our late night snack at Ceasars Thursday night.  We then had Breakfast at Paris before our time ran out, and it was delish.  Great baked good and the crepe station was amazing.

So this year we are going to arrive on Wednesday, just to fit in the Buffet of Buffets, well and to see an evening show.

Don't know if that's been mentioned by anyone either.  SOE is great about packing every day of the event with great activities.  If you want to catch any other Vegas specialties, such as a show, or even the free stuff, like the Bellagio Fountains at night or the TI Sirens/Pirate Show, you definately need to be there either the day before or after SOE Live.

One last comment, at Bally's itself, they have a North Tower and South Tower for their hotel rooms.  The Sony rate they have listed is for the North Tower, whose elevator bay lets out right by the convention area.  The South Tower's elevator bay is on the other side of the casino.  I haven't searched prices to much yet this year, but last year, if you didn't mind walking through the casino, you could get a great rate for the South Tower through priceline and other travel sites.  It was cheaper than the Sony rate.  Again, can't confirm that at this point, but was the case before.  I also had some friends stay at the Tuscany Suites, which is just a block off the strip from Bally's, and they had amazing rates over half Bally's cost.

Madonna will be in Las Vegas on Oct 13th @ MGM

Bally's is connected by a shopping walkway to Paris.  Paris will be hosting a CCIM Institute Yearly Meeting... looks to be an Investment Organization.... Exciting group to mingle with, ha.

2012 Specialty Graphics Annual National Convention will be at the Las Vegas Convention Center during SOE Live.

Looks like we'll be sharing Bally's Convention Rooms with California Society Of Health-system Pharmacists Annual Fall Seminar with an estimated 900 attendees.

To bad the Halloween Parade is actually on Halloween.  Looks like this would have been great if timed right!

Seems all the Casinos really get into Halloween.  Many of them do haunted house/hotel tours, link to a great list here.  Circus Circus turning their Dome into a haunted attraction and then closing off the 13th floor to turn it into a haunted house, with all that Vegas can do entertainment wise, this sound fun!

Don't forget Freemont Street either.  Their casinos offer lots of free play promotions to get you in the door.  Their nickel slots really only cost a nickel to play, unlike all the digital nickel/penny slots on the strip.  And there is some really fun food specials there also, like the fried twinkies and oreos at the Mermaid, if I remember right.

I've found a great list of Free Things to Do and See in Las Vegas, click here to check it out.

Thanks for collecting this info!

It's unfortunate that the taxi lobby stopped the monorail expansion. A $40 taxi from Bally's to Freemont St is a real discourager for me.

Website of Free to Cheap Shuttles around Vegas.

Granted, it may still cost you a tad to get down to Freemont, but not near $30 if you have the time.

example --- me and wife    use both our cards we have  total  1 week free comped room  thats 7 days   that my friends is a deal  and im staying in the north  tower   i asked for a suite   its a toss us  but i think they might give it to me  i KNOW for sure i will have a room though

so cheak out your cards............

btw real fast  so you know   BOTH ppl have to be present to get the discount    so if you ask mom to  make reservations useing her TR CARD she has to be there

Rental Cars and Credit Cards.

The majority of car rental companies will only rent to a credit card; NO cash and no check and no debits.

Many car rental places only rent to people at least 22 years of age.

Rent at the airport for the most selection.
