Thank you all for the continuing feedback! The following changes have been submitted and should be included with tomorrow's Beta update:
  • Balgros' challenge level has been reduced.
  • a Vul adherent and Fathad Zastim have had their damage reduced some.
  • Mercenaries can now enter "Isle of Vul: Bellengere's Dark Spire" and "Plane of Justice: Eternal Prisons"

Quest: Elements of Destruction: Shadow Casting in the Dark

Zone: Plane of Justice: Eternal Prison
I just ran this with my paladin, who is wearing all mastercrafted/refined gear. I dismissed my merc and ran this a couple of times, zoning out and resetting to try it a couple of ways. Sigrdrifa has a resolve of 1,270, potency of 50K, and does ~32M DPS. I had Singular Focus on to avoid aggroing an enforcer anywhere.

I actually found killing the Sentry of Justice in the hallway more difficult than killing Balgros, though neither were really difficult. Both runs, I just used normal combat to kill the sentry. The first time with Balgros, I just used regular combat. The second time I one-shotted him with a Levinbolt Etherealist Ascension (the one I got from being Beta Buffed, so it's still apprentice-level).

Zone: Isle of Vul: Bellengere's Dark Spire
Using only regular combat arts and no mercenary, the Vul adherents took me 20-30 secs to kill using just regular combat. While I probably could have killed Fathad Zastim just with regular combat, it was going slow so I started using Ascensions. I did have to use Demonstration of Faith (pally ward) and I used Lay On Hands (big heal) once (total time 2 min 39 sec).

I zoned out and reset, noting that I still had the Shadow Gem. I deleted the Shadow Gem. This time I brought my merc, Kenny, along. This time I used no Ascensions at all. The Vul adherents died in 15-20 seconds each, and it took me 3 min 7 sec to kill Fathad with no Ascensions. The savage grathok died in 22 sec (without Kenny, without Ascensions) and in 15 sec (with Kenny, no Ascensions), same with the shadowed men.

Problem: I was unable to see the void shard shiny at all. I fumbled around until my cursor turned into a hand, then grabbed it.

Summary: This is my low-DPS toon, and I think the mobs in this quest were all tuned just fine.

It does take you through a lot of the zones (and takes time) Plus to get the Beta reward takes even more work!

Ward of Chaos Elements
Glimmerghast, the fog archon has killed me 6 times, and I gave up on my Coercer, my NEC died a lot as well and took over an hour to finish the zone. I just plain gave up on my Coercer. Neither have their epic 2. I was using the ice shield buff, and had Zhugrus Blightstrike as a healer merc. I am in the scaling test gear. The mobs in whole hit way too hard and makes the zone long not fun at all due to all the deaths. I am all for a challenge but this, this is something way more. I won't even have the magical scaling gear on live when I attempt this.

This should be corrected with tomorrow's Beta update, Shadowscale. Thank you for catching that!

Be more specific. Just saying it's bad doesn't say what it lacks, or what should be added.

This has probably been asked and answered somewhere, but exactly how many sections does the ADV Sig line have? Yesterday I did the Plane of Fire, Plane of Air, and Plane of Water for Starpyre, today I need to do the Plane of Earth. How close am I to completing the ADV Sig line? Am I like 50% done, 70% done, etc, I see no light at the end of this tunnel.

Elements of Destruction: Waves of Order
Elements of Destruction: Layers of Order
Elements of Destruction: Flames of Order
Elements of Destruction: Gusts of Order

The above quest zones do not drop the required 19 items you need to imbue. I have had to rerun each zone 2x to get the required items. the zones in question are:

Awuidor: Marr's Ascent [Solo] for onzolan crystals
Vegarlson: Council's Stronghold [Solo] for tectonic fragments
Doomfire: Elements of Rage [Solo] for thermite briquettes
Eryslai: The Midnight Aerie [Solo] for ephemeral gusts

Ok a two handed weapon? No self respecting tank uses a 2 hander. The shield is not better than the PoP shield.

The only zone where I have had trouble getting updates is Eryslai. The others, I just mass-slaughtered trash mobs and usually had enough updates before I was 2/3 through the zone.

It depends on the expansion and what that tank is doing. In some expansions, people tanked RAIDS with a two-hander in offensive stance. They've changed mechanics so that doesn't happen, but a lot of times in the past soloing my paladin uses offensive + a two-hander for the DPS... I haven't tried that in Beta yet to see if it's at all viable.

Elements of Destruction: Face...
During step to get buff for third mob, killed a stormstone twister. The Wellstone dropped in mid Air over the cavern...out of reach.

Could not find a way to pull it to me. /sum did not work either.

I only had to few drops for
Elements of Destruction: Gusts of Order

Yea I have had this happen to me as well. I have run the sig line 5x now on various toons. Its only recently where the items seem even more random.

While it is possible to get enough drops on one run through of any of the zones for these four signature quests (as other players have attested), it will not be typical. It may take you a couple runs of the zones, either on Beta or on live. To help increase the drops for Gusts of Order and Layers of Order, some bosses have a much greater chance to drop the needed items, too. And all of the drops, for all four of the quests, are group-wide so it definitely pays off to run the heroic versions with other players.

May the RNG smile upon you!

Yea I did that too =) They should up the drop rate or lower the required amount needed, to say like 10 or 15. I was missing between 1 and 8 items so I had to go back in.

Not 90 minutes since you will be running 4 solo zones and the first zone's timer will count down while doing the other 3. But yeah, it will be discouraging to those that need to wait for that zone to be available again.

I'm sorry to say this, Kaitheel, but in my opinion this advice is kind of questionable. My understanding from the past of the solo adventure signature line is to tell the players the story of the expansion and then the players can to move through the expansion step by step, from solo content to tier 1 heroics, to tier 2 heroic and so on. The instances involved are:
  • Eryslai: The Midnight Aerie
  • Vegarlson: Council's Stronghold
  • Doomfire: Elements of Rage
  • Awuidor: Marr's Ascent
In their heroic versions, all of these are Tier 2 heroics - with a resolve requirement of 1058.
My main will start into the new expansion with 756 resolve. So I will be just a measly 302 resolve short to run these heroics to help me get through the solo signature line. On beta, when I got the achievement "Vanquishing the Chaos Descending", for finishing all quests in the Great Library, all quests in the outdoor zones and the complete solo adventure signature line I had gotten some rewards/drops that helped me to raise my mains resolve to 950ish. So even at that point tier 2 heroics were roughly another 100 points of resolve away. You saying "it definitely pays off to run the heroic versions with other players" to help me through the solo adventure signature line makes me think you're in cahoots with the mender in the Great Library, and he'll be the only one that gets paid. Wink
In my opinion this is a flaw in the concept of the new expansion at least.

That's going to be rough if it's 'expected' that people will be stuck for 90 minutes, repeatedly, while doing the sig line... People are likely to get frustrated if they're stymied, repeatedly, doing a solo quest line.

Yea the point I was trying to make exactly. There isn't even an added bonus for having to run it 2x's cause it isn't like you can log the daily again for another 18 hours.

You still have to run the entire zone to its completion killing the last named in each zone. This all takes time, even if you stop in your 1st run of the instance say your missing 8 item updates and you know you only have 2 named left to kill and 4 flagged trash mobs because you know you're not going to have enough, you are still eating a large chunk of gameplay.

Is something still up with Balgros? I've run 6 toons past this boss but my squishy Wizard can't seem to dent him at all. Has it been changed ?

Something is up with Fount of Power in Plane of Justice: Eternal. The buff isn't on as I zoned in (on an alt) so I clicked it from knowledge book. It casted but immediately turned off.

Ah thanks Xianthia I didn't even think to check Fount of Power. You're right it's bugging out. Won't stay on.

There's a bug with Plane of Justice today which causes Fount of Power to be removed shortly after casting it. This will be fixed tomorrow, but until then, the workaround is to cast Fount of Power, then attack the mob within 5 seconds. As long as you remain in combat the buff will stick around throughout the fight.
