Standard maintenance.. happens once or twice a week and always at the same time. In game warnings usually start up about 1.5 hours before the servers go down and become more frequent as server down draws closer. This is nothing new to anyone who's played longer than a month.

Been here well over a month and if I recall it was Tuesdays they used to do maintenance, not Wednesdays. If they know about it shouldnt it be on eq2players that every Blahday at xxSMILEYx the servers come down for 1 hour?

Oh, what did it say...I was in game maybe a whole 20 seconds after I logged in... I got no message... then boom to the desktop... All the support information says there was downtime but... not on the 7th... Nothing in chat log.. so as far as I know the server's squirrel decided to take a nap...So I agree with Jeminot , "Come on SOE.. Some notice here?"[EDIT: ok this is odd... the "review message" on edit shows colonel75thr as the poster but Jeminot is the poster on the normal view... whoo hooo buggy forums...][EDIT: they show maintenance on MondayScheduled Downtime Updated - 11/03/2007 12:30 PM PDTAll EQ2 US servers will be brought down for a scheduled maintenance on11/05/2007 at 7:00 AM PDT. The estimated down time will be 1 hour.So if they can say there was going to be maintenance for Monday they can say the same thing for Wednesday.]

I disagree, while it used to be the norm for a near daily or every other day downtime for server reboot.  This hasnt been the case for a long while.  And seriously how hard is it for them to post a notice on the Network Status page that the servers will be coming down at 7am pacific for a brief update.  Being in a guild that raids at 600am Pacific this just blows chunks.  I get out of bed early AM to raid only to find the servers are coming down when I checked the Network Status page the night before and nothing was noted.  Please it's just common courtesy to your paying players to give them something outside of server wide spam so that we can plan ahead for server down time.  Yeah I know I work as an engineer I can't even begin to imagine if I took down our systems at work without warning what so ever.  I can see it now, why?  Heres your last check don't let the door hit you on the [Removed for Content] on the way out.

its nice that those of you in game for a warning but something for us just trying to get on would be considerate as well.  How long did the in game message say?  If more than a 10-15 min dt it should be posted on net status page I think.  But that is just my thoughts on it.

they were doing very well with notification SMILEY

i agree 100% Suzykins!  putting it on the Net status page is the absolute minimum that should be done.  even when it's an emergency take down they have been extremely good with letting us know on the forums or on the net status page what's going on.

this horse has been dead so many times, then some silly necro comes along and re-animates it SMILEY

you'd think after all this time the system for notification on downtime would be flawless.  One day's glitch is understandable sometimes, so i'll give em this one day.  but let's keep it to one day please!  /beg

Today's first broadcast about server downtime was 2 hours before it occured.

EQ2 players does indeed have server maintenance listed for today on the network status page.

I don't think the network status has any downtime scheduled... maybe I'm looking at the wrong page? Or I'm blind or something? I look here:

http://eq2players.station.sony.com/...twork_status.vm

And I see downtime for yesterday (UK servers) and the say before that (US servers). It's the 7th today no?

I often try to log in at this time, being in the UK, halfway through the update so I never see any in game notifications. Usually the status page is pretty good, but last couple of times I've had issues logging in it's fallen to posters like Jeminot who post in this forum to actually tell me that the servers are down and save me from a frustrating half an hour as I try and figure out what's gone wrong with my computer. So thanks SMILEY<img src=

(and please don't discourage them from posting SMILEY<img src=" width="15" height="15" /> )

No it doesn't. And for your notice. It's the 7th of november today, not the 5th SMILEY

You must have access to an EQ2players site that I don't.  The one I'm looking at has info regarding the eq2players.com site being down later today, and the EU servers being down yesterday, but nothing about today on play servers.  There is also the msg about the US servers down on the 5th.

Servers were up at 11:23AM eastern.

Was on for 2 minutes and AB went down - don't know if others did as well the Players page just showed AB down.

In-game they had system messages for at least two hours before hand with many 'find a safe place and log out immediately' messages spamed every minute during the last ten minuets.

For those that happened to see the ingame messages - was there an indication of exactly how long the servers would be down?

Just tried to log into the game and hit Kithicor for some fun.  Sadly the kithicor server is still locked and it seems to be more than just routine maintenance.  Devs are probably fixing some stuff that was broken in game.  Remember a couple of things acting quirky in game.

that's absolutely wonderful if you're logged INGAME.  if i've not logged in yet and am reading the morning posts, this does NOTHING for me at all and i would guess by the amount of posts like this one and the replies going onto those posts that i'm not alone here.

it is NOT an unreasonable request to be informed PRIOR to downtime that it will be occuring.  the only exception to this rule i can possibly think of is in the case of emergency downtime.  which they have been very good the last few months about posting something regarding it in the announcements forum ASAP to keep us up to date.

as i said in my previous post, they have done an exceptional job lately of keeping us informed PRIOR to things happening.  and i'm still gonna give em this one day, even though i got to log on for oh about a half hour then poofed to char select mid-combine (DOH!  there goes that pristine!) it's still frustrating.

Hahaha how do you patch something to fix it and miss getting it right on 4 servers?  I was on the wall in catacombs trying to figure out how to get my statue and poof gone.  Had some friends coming to help lol.And to all that have posted hey they announced this in game for 2 hours. LOL for those in game why thats just wonderfull.  For those of us just coming on in the morning.  Or checking for down time the night before so we can adjust our sleep accordingly this blows chunks and if they can announce it in game for two hours.  How hard is it to pop a post on the network server page??? I mean come on give me a break.

The second outage is very evidently not planned at all.. not when it blows you to character screen minus most of your characters with no warning.

Wes hungries, we needs our foods!

I also noticed AB go up then crash out again suddenly, I guess some things have not changed while I have been away. ^_^
