I noticed that collectibles have changed to be NO-TRADE now (got one in Plane of Innovation that was, and then went and looked at my Plane of Magic collections in progress and noticed they all have NO-TRADE tags on presumably the rares now). Please reconsider this - getting lucky with a rare shiny was one of the few ways for the average person to raise a bit of pp, and also was one of the few things you still could barter with (I have X, you have Y, let's trade!)

At least in the past weeks, there was a no-trade blue shiny in most of the solo zones, usually found near the last mob of the zone after it's killed.
If you're talking about yellow shinies now being no-trade, that is a problem, I agree

Yes, it's yellow shinies that are no trade now. (not ALL of them, just 1 for each collection, so probably the rare one)

You can still SLR them at least, but not broker them.

I'd much prefer them tradeable as well, I'm lazy and buy a lot of them.

But if they make them tradable, then people will buy fewer kronos to sell for plat in the long run. Can't have that.lol

Uhm.. if people can put them on the broker, they'll sell for high plat values. Rare shinies always sell for high plat.
Making them no-trade makes it LESS likely people will be able to spend their plat to buy them..

Yes, I agree with that. Not everything is a Krono conspiracy, and if you truly think everything is related to Kronos then I'm sure a fair number of people who bought rares did so with pp they got by selling kronos.

Also, you can't really SLR shinies, don't they disappear 2 minutes after you look at them?

Ahhaha, looks like more and more trading in this game (unless you're on Isle of Refuge, and not many like to play there it seems) is undesireable, lest you grind the required content by yourself. Wonder where that does put the Broker feature in terms of (already severly limited) usefulness now.

I've noticed some quests are now also giving out collectibles, and those are no trade as well (which makes sense for quest rewards more so than zone drops). Question is - are they putting 1 no trade in every collection but not necessarily the 'rare' one, or is it the rare one that is no trade?

At least for the quest rewards, the ones awarded do not seem to be 'rare' as every single one that has come with a quest reward (across 3 toons) has been one that toon already had... making the quest reward completely and totally worthless Frown

Everyone fears change. God forbid you find a different method of making plat in game. No trade shinies are great because there won’t be anymore need for-my-alt crap. I mean, they said it was going to be a very alt friendly expansion. Now go log in those alts and get to collecting! (Once live)

no-trade shinies are great, you wont get people NEEDING things to sell at the end of an instance, the average player will benefit, and greedy will not be able to profit, and those who want to sell can still do so, via SLR

You can't SLR quest rewards, which is how some of these no-trade collectibles are being rewarded.

You must run with rather.. rude... people if people needing on things just to sell is the norm or common for your groups.
Making items like shinies No-Trade doesn't help anybody.... it either slows down groups as people relog to get their alt or the item rots. For something like shinies, I'm not sure why either option would be considered 'good'.

I fully support making heroic rare shinies no-trade. I've seen too many people need on rares only to see them end up on the broker, and occasionally people roll need on a shiny after they've already won the exact same shiny in the same group.

As for soloable shinies, I am absolutely against them being no-trade. I've made most of of my plat farming and selling them and it's how I've spent a lot of time in the game. Then there's the issue of forcing people to run solos to complete collections. I'm down to needing one solo instance shiny from the fire zones to complete the rare collection, and I'm bored stupid of running them. It takes at least 90 mins to run both those zones with all the scripts, regardless of dps, and even then the shiny I need might not drop. I've run them both countless times trying to get that particular shiny, and they are not fun zones to do. At the very least the soloable shinies should be heirloom, but even then that removes a huge motivation to for me to play the game when I'll have them on alts.

Soo... because some of the people you run with (regularly?) are nobody should be able to get rare shinies unless they happen to the zone AND get lucky? Or are you just thinking it will increase your profits because you think you can get higher prices if they're SLRed rather then brokered?

Some people are just greedy. I've seen people in my previous guilds do it in guild groups before, and pugs do it all the time. I've already emphasised that solo shinies should be left as they were because a) solo shinies were never an issue that needed 'fixing', and b) I recognise that some people couldn't care less about this particular issue, but it will affect how much time I spend playing the game, and whether I play at all once I get bored of regular content.

Heroic rare shinies are a different matter entirely, and I've never made a single plat profit from selling them. Making them no-trade or not makes no difference to me, although I'd prefer if they were no-trade so I would have a fair chance of completing collections. They've always been a contentious issue and it's good to see the devs address it, but there was no good reason to do the same to solo shinies, at least no good reason I can see from a players perspective anyway.

Ironically, I think FEWER people will complete them if they're made No-Trade... because they won't be able to buy them on the broker.
As far as the 'greedy people' you mention.. I guess the people I group with are just more considerate of their group-mates as I haven't had anybody do that in years.

Note: I don't sell the rare shinies either... I give them to friends who are working on the collection (if i win on a greed roll) or one of my alts.

No way, and you're being very naive if you think people in your groups have never, ever rolled need and then stuck them on broker. I only started noticing this expac when I made a list of the shinies I needed and checked broker every day. Take the current temple event heroic, for example. There's always 3 shinies in there. From farming it solo for necklace, I'd guess that a rare spawns maybe every 4 or 5 runs. I guarantee that any time I'm with a group and a rare shiny spawns, at least 4 people will roll need on it, so I need to run it 20 or so times to have an even chance of winning the shiny. I know for certain that I'd run the zone at least 30-40 times, probably more, before I could farm it solo and I still needed at least 2 from there. There was one, split beam sunshine, that I'd seen drop at least 6 times and kept losing out on rolls, and one of them ended up on broker for 600k plat. Same story with a bunch of other shinies, and it took a solid week of farming solo to get the remaining 15 rares I needed to complete the meta and get the necklace. Even then I bought or traded for some of them.

Anyways, as I said, i'm not too fussed about heroic shinies. I just checked all my completed overland collections from beta and it appears that none of the rares, ie those that are part of two collections, are no-trade so I'm cool with it. It just seems odd they'd make an apparently non-rare solo shiny no-trade. I am a bit miffed that the solo instance shinies are no-trade because I'll have no reason to run them once I'm full on tokens and heroic/raid gear though. I guess I'll have to time how long it takes for them to disappear to see if SLR will be worth it, and I guess it means finishing the meta will be easier because it's a guaranteed rare shiny in most cases, but once I'm done with the solo part of the meta, again I have no reason to run these zones. This won't be an issue for the first couple of months, but I know from experience that farming solo shinies keeps me interested and gives me a reason to log in for those times I have nothing else to do later on.

I don't pug any more.. in KA I -couldn't- pug on my warden because there is no way to tell if I can solo heal a random group until I'm IN the group.. because it requires the other people to be geared enough AND for the tank to realize he can't pull the entire zone. I could solo heal 'my' SK even in a lowish dps group because she didn't 'assume' she and the group had piles of wards up all the time. I tried pug healing a few groups.. even ones better geared then my normal non-pug groups and there were always deaths.. some times many. because people refused to 'understand' what lack of wards meant for pulling.

I still think you're over stating HOW often/many people are jerks if you think more people will get rare shinies if the only way to get them is to get them IN zone (ie be in a group that loots them or SLR) then being able to get them on the broker.

I absolutely despise this change. At the very least they should be heirloom. Just another way to screw alts.

Shiny hunting was one of my favorite pastimes but Daybreak seems determined to destroy it.
