Ok, this wasn't happening before on the new forums.  I wasn't having any problems posting at all with the new forums, until now.

Now, nearly every time I write a message it tells me duplicate post submission.  I think, "Cool, it automatically ignored any extra posts I accidently made."  Then I see that my post was not saved at all.

Since I don't double click on the links but single click, I don't see why this is a problem.  Could the problem stem from using this newfangled IE?  When I use firefox tabbed I've no problems, but IE is giving me lots of pain.

While you are creating/editing a post, do *not* open additional threads in another window or tab.  What happens when you do this is the "Quick Reply" feature (at the bottom of all threads) tells the forum software you're about to post and the server proceeds to ignore previous post attempts (including the one you were working on). It's a bug, but one that is easily worked around once you understand what it's doing. SMILEY

It seems to occur when you're browsing the forum in multiple windows / tabs.  If you navigate in one window / tab while posting in another, you'll get the "Duplicate Post Submission" error.

You can either limit your browsing while you're in the middle of posting, or Ctrl+A, Ctrl+C your post before submitting it (in case you have to paste it into a new form when you get the error).

Hope this helps!

OH MY!

Wow, this is painful.  I'm always multitasking.  This just happened to me again.  I'm always referencing other threads in my posts or looking up supplemental information to verify my points, so I don't put all my toes in my mouth.  Copying and pasting etc.  Especially if I use terms like "A dev said," or "In a recent parse," etc.. I generally stop whatever I'm writing and look it up to be sure I've my facts straight.  Sometimes I end up having to completely retract what I was going to say because I misrecalled a dev statement.  Not often, but it happens.

What really killed me was using the search tool to link all kinds of old posts for easy reference, I created all my links, about 30 mins or so of effort, and it was all lost!  For me, being able to have multiple pages open simultaniously is essential.

Hrm, now I'm thinking about installing firefox on this computer since I didn't experience this problem with firefox--that I recall.  Since I still forget to copy my post to prevent this very thing sometimes, well, pretty often.

Thank you for your help. SMILEY

I do this a lot too...I've just had to get myself in the habit of Ctrl+A / Ctrl+C before I hit Submit.  It's hard to remember to do at first, but after having to totally retype several very long posts, it's pretty much second nature, LOL.

Another thing that I've found helps is composing your post in another WYSIWYG editor (like a new email in Outlook Express), then C&Ping it when you're done.

I don't think we should have to go to such lengths, but it works...
