I would love to fly this year to go to the fan fair in vegas, but my wife is to far along in her pregnancy to fly. I was wondering who wants a fan fair next year in ORLANDO...has only been 1 before and that was in 2001 I believe. Would love to see another one next year in Orlando. What does everyone else think?

I was going to comment about how I always wanted to party and game it up with penguins. Then I remembered my friend from Alaska telling me there were no penguins up there and that was a common misconception that there were. *sigh*

With this conclusion, I will have to vote somewhere with penguins......anyone adventurous enough for Antarctica? SMILEY

WEll, we could always bring our own, or dress up.Failing that, there's always the Falkland Islands. Sure they could do with the tourism.

I vote for Amsterdam. Just head for a coffee shop, and you'll find penguins soon enough SMILEY

Mmm Fan Faire on an Antarctic Cruise. I could go for that. Seriously though, since 2009 will be EQ's 10th Anniversary, I know a few guildmates who are specifically waiting for that fan faire to go to it, since they're expecting Big Things. (At the very least a Big BDay cake for EQ I would hope). Please, do all you can to get announcements of that Fan Faire out and out early to make it the best ever (even better than the one coming next week. SMILEY )

Anywhere that is below 70 degree's in the summer is way too cold for my tastes.

If Fan Faire was not in the western half of the US for the last 2 years I would say, being that it is EQ's 10th aniversery it should be in San Diego with hourly trips to SoE HQ, but sence it has been in the Western Half of the US. I sugjest Houstan as it is a Major Airline Hub therefor the average Plane ticket price will be cheaper, or Denver as it is nearly Dead Center in the Middle of the Country and as such should limit most complaints about distance. Third choice would be somewhere in Virginia as that is pritty much the center of the East Coast.BTW, I live in California.

Vegas!  It's cheaper for flights, greyhound, hotels, and there's something to do if you can't sleep at 1am due to excitement.  Atlanta was booooring at night, and I've always had fun at Vegas.

By the way, if you don't have transportation yet, Greyhound bus casino rates are gold!  I got $52 round trip from Cali a week before FF.  That's WAY cheaper than driving or flying out.

Honestly I think Vegas has been overworked. Stop messing with the polls and make Orlando '09 the place to be. Lots of night life there, plus all the places to go and have fun also.

as I understand there's a Storm coming there by tomorrow...and it seems it's raining there now as to what i've seen on the news... which is one thing I don't like about FL other than that. i would love it done there so we can meet up with this chick named Orexis in FL.

Vegas is really the only way to go...it was nice to be able to stumble up drunk to your room, instead of having to go outside and such. SMILEY

I have to agree, it's truly nice to be able to stumble up to the room. Plus, the 24/7 atmosphere means that you can still do stuff around the Fan Faire activities. I don't know if Orlando is an all night town, but Fan Faire needs to be in a place that is an all nighter.

The only thing I beg of SOE is that we get the announcement earlier.  We had a good deal of time to get reservations and stuff this year, but it would be nice to have just a little extra time to save cash and request time off work and get a better deal on airfare/hotel.  One note regarding the hotel: The air/hotel package deals were way better than the Fan Faire rate. Keep that in mind next year, I know I will!

It was a blast, looking forward to next year.

Comming from Tennessee, I didn't mind flying out to Vegas for my first Fan Faire.  I would like next year though if its still in Vegas to be at another hotel.  I was really disappointed with my room and the condition of the whole 12th floor at the Hilton.  Although the convention center area of the hotel was nice and all, without Quarks and the Star Trek Experience being there, some of the other hotels might be a better choice for the next one.

Otherwise, doesn't matter where it is, I'm hooked now and we'll be planning to hit the next one regardless of location... unless its in Antartica, I'm not into that kinda cold :p

I'd vote for Vegas or Orlando. Vegas because I've never been there so I could take my wife there and she would have stuff to do while I geeked it up (she doesn't play.....yet!), Orlando because I live in Florida and it would be close by. Orlando has several "hotspots" going all time. It's not Vegas, but has alot to offer as far as entertainment so you wouldn't be bored. Mickey wouldn't know what hit him!

Tamat, who works at Allakhazam and lived up here in Alaska until last year, conceived the idea that if EQ2 ever gets Velious the realse party should be in Alaska, maybe during the Fur Rondy

Alaska? No way, sorry, I have enough cold snowy weather where I live. Vegas sounds good. Orlando is just as nice, I guess.  If you wanted to have the fan fair in the summer, why not have it on myrtle beach or cape cod.

I hear that.  I worked one place where you had to put in for your next year's vacation the previous December.  By December 3 they were having to turn people down.

Hmm, March is only three months away and is the 10th anniversary of the release of EQ1.  Sounds like an excellent opportunity for a Fan Faire, especially in a place like Orlando.  I'm sure there will be plenty of snowbirds ready to head to Florida by then.  What's up, SOE?  Are we going someplace else this year or are we going to end up in Vegas in August, again?

Oh I hope they don't do this...3 months is NO time to get vacation approved, money saved, etc etc etc...I hope they keep the same timeframe in August and I hope they keep it in Vegas. Orlando is a bunch a people with whiny brats and I LOVE the kid free environment of Vegas.. SMILEY

Seriously, the 10th anniversary of EQ can't be anywhere except Vegas.

I don't know San Diego would be good. SMILEY

Personally I think that SoE should just find a place they can hold it every year, on the same weekend, one that does not compete with some other game conferance, and my vote for that would be Vegas as it is the cheapest average total cost. Besides who wants to goto a Tropical Swamp, in the heart of Hurican Season, where it is the same tempurature as Vegas, but with 100% humidity... and if you have every experianced that kind of Humidity you will never laugh at a "Dry Heat" comment again... especally when unlike Vegas you accually will have to leave the hotel for any kind of real night life.
