What is the easiest way to do this?  I just came back after a year or two of being gone and found out I can be a pally on FP side.. So how do I do this?  In the past I've betrayed a few races from Q to FP and it was a btch.. Hopefully this won't be so bad.

You can only do this on the PvP servers.

I think it would open more fun in the game if we had more options on each side.. SMILEY  hopefully the producer will consider opening this up to all servers.. SMILEY

And the question we all have to ask is why?

Wouldnt it make more sense to keep the 2 servers similar. Also if lore is the sole reason to seperate the classes. It doesnt necessarily reflect the truth. It should of been allowed from the start imho would of made balance and the true city vs city feel alot more involved.

i beleive you go through betrayal and when you get to the point where you talk to the trainer, you choose paladin instead of sk. Ive never gotten far into pvp though, so i dont know the exact details. eq2 wiki might have them.

Keep dreaming. They *ONLY* Did this to allow raids to have a proper setup of all classes without having them hurt each other in the process and to prevent Exiles from the chosen choice of alignment.

Those are literally the only reasons why PVP servers alone can play as any class on either side. This is not something that will ever come to the rest of the game.

He doesn't have to be a dev to state the truth. Luck has it that the dev's of this game, unlike thiose of another game that I won't mention,  still try to adhere to the lore.

FP is Evil and Dark-elves are Evil. Paladins are a prime example af a good (In the sense of NOT evil) class. If you want a Dark-elf Paladin you will have to betray and come and live in one of the good cities.

Create a Dark Elf Shadowknight

Do the betrayel quest.

Become an exile

Get faction back with Freeport, or any evil city.

When you finish, talk to your trainer, he will ask if you wanto be SK or Pally.

You'll have more luck asking questions in the pvp forums: http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...m?forum_id=2589

PvE'rs get sensitive when you discuss anything PvP related.

This applies to the PVP servers only though. If you actually betrayed and went back to Freeport, Neriak, or Gorowyn, you would become a shadowknight regardless of whether you want to be one or not.

Thanks, finally somone actually on my topic.  I actually already completed everything though.  I just figured it would work like this, and luckily it did.. running around on a 16 DE pally now in FP.

I just gained faction with FP and did the quest like back in the day.. takes like 6-7 hours of repetitive BS

I was going to try gaining with Neriak to see if it's faster.. can't go more than 2 seconds without getting ganked in DLW though.

Wait, given how so many other restrictions vanished and the remaining are almost meaningless and that PvP's focus should be PvP not PvE ( not to mention PvP being stronger in lore based on good v. evil) you still made that post? There is 0 reason now, based on how they've done everything else, to restict classes to cities any more and same goes for gods. Only the Sk/Pally restriction makes any sense anyway and the rest seem to have been done for numbers balance.

You CAN do it but you wont be able to have a house.

Create a DE SK

Betray to pally

Betray back to SK but do not finish the very last quest in the betrayal. This way you will still be able to use everything in Freeport and also not get attacked but you will be a Pally. Like I said at the start though, you cannot get a house.

Explain why?

And don't throw around because of the lore of the game. The original lore out there for when the game was introduced made sense. However since we can now send mail, purchase from the broker without going to the fence broker, and not to mention we have always been able to group with those of different alignment without penalty.

With the new cities introduced I do not see why these starting cities can not open up their gates and create quests for faction to gain faction with these cities. Lore wise they can spin it how ever they want on the reason why the cities are opening their gates. But unless they plan on having some big fight between Qeynos and Freeport anytime soon...these dead cities will remain dead.

Allowing previously banned city/race/class combinations on PvE servers will be one of the tricks they pull out of the bag as time goes on, to renew/retain interest in the game.

Mark my words - I have typed it, and so it shall come to pass.

You can have your house too, just buy it while you're still an SK. My Troll Pally has her house in NFP SMILEY

I even betrayed back again and then forward again, so I could get the FP "Dame" title on her. The only things you can't have are shared bank access and a city bind point, though if you are in a guild with a hall that is less of an issue.

  • Make a DE SK in the city where you want to have a house
  • Buy the house you want to have for all time
  • Betray (Neriak -> Kelethin is probably the quickest)
  • Finish Betrayal in Kelethin and become a Pally
  • Betray to the evil city you want faction with but stop short of talking to the trainer to reset your class.

The other downside of this is that you only get faction with one evil city. You can work faction with Neriak, but FP will hate you, or vice-versa. because you never truly join the city, you miss out on the auto-faction with allies, and the SS carpet won't take you home. You will, on the other hand, retain the call of Haven, not that it is particularly useful.

A heads-up for anyone considering this - you CAN NOT be given city writs from ANY CITY once you hit Kunark and The Moors (T8, basically). There are also a few quests you cannot be given if you don't have a city status. There are also a few less options on bells in the cities you are squatting in (but aren't a bona fide citizen).

I still made that post yes. The issue was that this is not going to happen on a NON PvP server. To be quite honest, I don't care what they do on a PvP server. You will never see me there. But I like my PvE server to stay within the lore and "rules" of the EQ universe.

Except the game would still consider you an Exile, which prevents you from starting some quests (like the Shadow Odyssey, Qeynos Claymore) and prevents you from using some mounts.

On PvP servers allowing good classes in evil cities is more about making the game environment fun than strictly adhering to lore. On PvE servers the lore is the overriding reason, since actual gameplay isn't significantly effected.

On PvE servers that may be true concerning the quests and mounts. I have done this on a couple alts but have not tried to do any signiture quests on them.

because otherwise people only had half the classes (well 15 classes out of 24) for raid.

Since in pvp, fp and queynos are enemies.

Allowing that in pvp enabled guilds to have all the classes for raiding and not being gimped.

Since in PVE, you can already group with any one ... useless to do that.

And what a pally would do in FP? except for dying? SMILEY

Isn't Lucan D'lere himself a Freep Paladin and not an SK? I think the PvP servers are closer to following the lore to the game than the PvE based servers. What is good and evil working together to defeat NPC's all about anyway? I love how on pvp servers if you betray your city you get auto-kicked from your guild.

Believe me when I say you do not want the river of tears that comes with your entire server being unable to raid anymore because you're missing certain classes. You don't want what we had.

DO NOT WANT.
