Well, that already happens with GM's and other sony employees. I'm sure it's happened with guides as well even with those rules in place. I would say a good guide would be able to avoid that.

If my guess as to the Halfling that is responcable for this is right... doing that would anger every TSer in EQ2... and you don't know fear until bunch of angery crafters are comming after you. SMILEY

Oh that halfling ....Now I am torn ..

I actually like that halfling, but it would be against my dark elf nature to not want to cause some harm. However I guess I am also part of that crafting army ..

And Ke'la ... your name breaks the quote feature SMILEY

I have a quick question about the guide program. (Well, 2 actually).

1.  I applied for the guide program, I think it was 2 years ago (don't remember), I was accepted but due to RL issues I couldn't accept at that time. Do I need to fill out another application?

2.  I work the graveyard shift normally, and on my two days off, I play on the graveyard shift (10pm - 7am).  As a guide, can I do guide things (run events, etc.) during these hours?  It has always bothered me that guide events always happened in the evening when I'm asleep or at work; I've never been able to attend a guide event because of this SMILEY.   I would like to run events for all of the night people when all the icky day people have gone to bed and give those who, like me, work the night shift a chance to be apart of what the day people always get.

Good questions, but sence this is an older thread, you may want to PM Karia or whoever runs the Guide Program with them, you'll likly get a faster responce.

And I has two quick answers. SMILEY

  • No, you don't. Contact [email protected] about it and they will forward it to the folks who handle that.
  • Guide things are run whenever the Guides are available, and whenever there's actually people around to participate. On some servers, this means that because of strange schedules that many of the Guide things are actually done in the morning and early in the day. While on others the Guides are only around during the evening. It all depends on our schedules. (After all, we has to go to work too ya knows)

And, actually, Kiara doesn't handles us, ke'la. Naylie is our Boss Gnomie person from SOE. SMILEY

I know she doesn't run the program, I just figured she knows who does and can forward the question on to the correct party.

The only problem with your hours are getting the training and initiation period done since those require being on when other guides are.

That was one of the difficulties for me, when I applied and subsequently had to withdraw (and then my real life went pear shaped and hasn't really gotten any better).

The Guide program is always looking for more to swell our ranks.   For those that attended Fan Faire this last weekend then you had a chance to meet many Guides in the program and even see them do live quest.    Feel free to ask if you have any questions or visit https://guide.station.sony.com/guideapp/faq.php as many of your answers may be there.   If you are ready to explore more of what can be found within the ranks of the Guide Program simply fill out the form at https://guide.station.sony.com/guideapp/.

Yes, if you have filled it out before then your application is still on record and all that needs to happen is an e-mail from you to [email protected] requesting reinstatement.

Don't forget to checks out our newest place we hang out too, over on the Station Community forums. They made a section named Volunteer Event Guides (yes, that makes it VEG....) where you can sees things from and about Guides from all the platforms and chat with us and ask questions and revel in the supremacy of Ratongas ... okay, maybe that's just me ... and so forth!

http://forums.station.sony.com/stat...?category_id=44

Why did they throw yall out into the boonies?  Why can't Guides have a section here on this forum, where you would be easy to locate?

I wouldn't mind being a guide...but all of my in game information is dated by at least a year...

So...maybe I could be a guide for just Nettleville on Befallen.  Has Nettleville changed in the last year or so?

Seriously though, I just wanted to pop in and say you guys do a good job.  I have read mentions of guides in the public chats and folks seem to appreciate guides quite a bit.

Keep up the good work.

These 2 things are counter intuitive to being a guide IMO. I have a vested interest in increasing the quality of play on the server I play on primarily which subsequently doesnt allow Guides. They are afraid someone is going to sell the uber appearance loot they got from a guide quest on a toon on the Exchange/Live Gamer site...LOL

Seriously, funny stuff. If either of those 2 things ever changes I would love to apply as a guide on my server, I love the game.

I disagree with the second being counter. After all then there would be those who would use it solely to mess with their own friends and guildies.

Wouldn't be a lot of fun for the rest if the accusations started going around that it was all favoritism.

Quest are tracked, pretty easy to see if you have a GUIDE always handing out quests only to their friends, etc. Then you get rid of that person for acting like they are 12 and put more responsible people in place. Problem solved.

They just avoid that problem by not having you guide on your play account, far simpler than dealing with folks that step out of line. After all, you have to remember that while not GMs, guides still get more powers than just handing out certain quests.

Have you guys given any thought to revising the processes for guiding? There is SO much potential there for it to be a fun exerience but the tools youre given are a tad archaic and unwieldy.
