Hello!

My main is a necro, which is who I use to farm the nest, but I've been wondering about my warlock lately. I did take her in there and I can see how I could kill the first 3 named, but what about the last two? I know many tricks after having done it so much with my necro, but I only made one attempt with my warlock, and it wasnt pretty, so I was hoping I could benefit from you guy's collected knowledge.

I realize I can root/nuke the mobs, but it would take a really long time, and I worry about power. I am happy to respec my AA's to whatever works. I imagine speedcasting is what you'll will say. Right now, I'm STR+INT and Props+Aftershocks.

My lock is not as nicely geared out as my necro, but she does have some really nice gear (raid leftovers). And before anyone says it, you can forget about me switching to wizard. I find wizards very dull. I absolutely love warlocks.

very ease..SMILEY root and DD....

if root broken you must very fast cast DAZE(vullian nullification)

and root or stun(thwart) > root

also Boss too...(boss tip : very important arcane cure!!!)

If you load up on heal/ward proc gear (nest robe, staff of spectral fury, vultak eye, that ring from OOB, & brell deity cloak) you can get away without even bothering to root most of the mobs.  It's like having a healer hidden in your pocket. SMILEY  No roots, means you can let your broodlings loose, plus throw in everything else you've got and burn through the trash mobs even faster.  You'll still have to root & nuke the taskmaster, the final mob, and the 2nd to last mob (forgetting his name atm).  They just hit way too freakin hard when they get within melee range. If you're running out of power, a couple power proc items can really make the difference in those long fights.

Ok, I reconfigured my AA's for a tank spec and props (amongst other things)

  • I got the Staff of Spectal Fury, Brell Cloak, Enspelled Vultak Eye and Xhaviz gown. I don't think I'll be getting the Signet of Life from Darkness, much as I would like it.
  • I loaded up on mit gear such as the earcog and an assortment of other little things.
  • I got 3 of the vs67 to all physical mit adornments.
  • I got the weapon spell proc for power adornment.
  • I got the two +40 to all healing adornments, which increases the heal proc equipment I have. Not by much, but it's something.
  • I do have an assortment of other adornments as well.

I now have 2507 mitigation self-buffed, rougly 520 intelligent (although it's really 571 because I pop those +51 Int potions).

I ran the nest. I pretty much destroyed everything up until the 2nd to last named. I did kill him, but it was a close fight because of power issues. I did use my manastone, the vessel of the fyr'un and the manafont labs gloves. However, I messed up using the group direct nuke. It consumes too much power, so I'm pretty sure that fight won't be a problem anymore.

Xhaviz owned me though. However, he was nuking me with 65% poison and 35% disease. On my two attempts, I didnt last long enough to really get a good feel what else he might do to me. You cant really tell what he will do to you as a warlock unless you are root/nuking him. He approaches different classes in different ways, so it's just going to take lots of experience. My disease resist was at 5000 and poison was at 4300. I have put some custom gear together just for Xhaviz that puts me at 7600 resist on both. My goal was 8000, but it just wasn't gonna happen if I was going to stay about 500 intelligence. I don't need the physical mit gear against him, so that gave me some play.

I have not had a chance to go back in there to test out the resist gear, but I will soon. If anyone's curious, this little foray has cost me about 25p. That's a noteworthy amount of coin for me, but it's worth it to learn my class under extreme circumstance. It sure did work to learn my necro very much better.

From the sound of your description, it was X'Haviz's pet of consumed souls that killed you.  That one really need to die fast.  Also, watch out for when X'Haviz reflects spells. What is working for me is targetting X'Haviz at max root range, then open the fight with Apocalypse followed by group root.  It might break, so be ready to stun with Thwart or Nebula if it does and re-root X'Haviz as the primary target.  If the pet hasn't died by now it should be close to dead, but you still need to finish it off as fast as possible.  Once that one is dead, X'Haviz himself is fairly easy assuming you have decent resists and enough power/health regen to keep him rooted long enough to kill him.Always stay at max root range.  Toggle the option to have hotbar icons change color when you're out of range, if you don't have already.  Always be ready to cast root, wait with your next spell if the root recast timer is still ticking.  He hits hard and even with your increased mitigation you won't last long if he starts using melee attacks on you when you don't have a real healer tagging along.  Remember to keep yourself cured of the arcane dot he casts.  Bring along a couple of health and/or power potions for when your proc items won't do the work.  The non-rare potions are fairly cheap.Note though: My spells are master 1 and I'm fairly well equipped, not über equipped, but better than average I think, so you might have to tweak your fight strategy a bit for your situation.

Wanted to thank you all for the excellent suggestions in here.  Prior to reading this I couldn't get past the 1st named in Nest solo.My 1st attempt since reading this thread was a great success.  Cleared the zone with the exception of the last named. (had to have a necro come into zone and kill him for me since I was working on hoo'luhs quest)I forgot about the arcane cure and healing potions though, maybe I'll clear it next attemptOh just a note: I did this raid spec'd AGI/WIS, HASTENINGS/EXPLOSIVES (with 9 points in PROTECTIONS)

Done! Thanks for the info.

I started out by rooting him and running downstairs to avoid his going into the floor (I killed his pet before the pull).

On my first pull attempt, I got him down to 20% but ran out of power SMILEY<img src= Then I respec'd from STR to WIS for the power reduction and the situation became a lot more comfortable.

Unfortunately, because of where Xhaviz died, I couldnt retrieve the chest, but no matter. It's something I feel I can do reliably. And I know I'm a nub for not having completed the Gnoll language on my topped off toon. I was as shocked as you are to see this SMILEY<img src=

The 1st named (Aggressor Khranz) is a standard root/nuke.

The 2nd named (Taskmaster Rezhirz) is also a standard root/nuke, but you could kill his adds, then jump on the wall. As long as you get back there within 5 minutes, they wont respawn and yes you still can get a chest from him.

The 3rd named (Councilor Zhardiz) is a real pain. He keeps hitting you with a noxious DoT, so carry around a stack of Exceptional Nox Cure potions. Also, he appears to have a long range CA that can trigger your dmg shield (Nilistics) and subsequently break your root. Make sure that is not up for this fight. All others its ok to have it up.

The 4th named (Kettleleader Ghrizhaw) is actually not that hard because all you have to do is root/nuke him. Make sure you kill all wanderers on the floor, and the 4 statics in the center. Do not use group nukes against him. They waste too much power. Don't forget to use vultak master strike. Only use your single target root. In concert with Thwart and cautious observation, you should not have a problem.

The 5th named (Chamberlain X'Haviz) is a power fight. I hit Terrible Deeds many times during that fight, and occasionally bestow energy. I didnt have to use any other power restoration equipment or consumables. You can get away with those two if you load up on the health proc'ing gear. 8300 poison and disease resist helped immensely this second time around. Stay at max range and pull Xhaviz to the bottom.

This time I was more relaxed, so I took much better screenshots for your amusement. I cropped the important part of the pics so they would be more visible on the website. I have one of the Kettleleader, and one of Xhaviz.

I am a wizard (AGI+WIS, Fire+Ice+Shielding spec) and I can clearly see why warlocks have less problems soloing X'Haviz than wizards - because of poison resists. His only viable attack is poison one and it gives me a hard time because I still die to it while X'Haviz has like 20% of his health. The next time I will try using Sol Ro blessing that heals caster.

And I usually have no problems killing other nameds in there, Councillor being the next toughest named in this zone. Best tactic against him is nuke his pet - single root named - run out of his room back to the corridor - group root his minions - dispatch them quickly - then standard beatdown on their boss. A bit tricky, but worked fine for me.

Resists do seem to make the differance on the final mob , for me it wasnt about power it was about him killing me SMILEY   at 4-5000 he creamed me at 7-8000 he barely scratched me.

However Ive now killed him in large part thanks to advice on this thread, so thanks all.

Oh and on the kettleleader i made a bad pull and got his 3 friends as well and i still won SMILEY  was chuffed

Soooo whats next ?

Can anybody clear any of the other T7 zones solo ?

As a matter of fact I did discuss the wizard possibility with my buddy last night, and we both agreed that a wizard has the potential. But you do bring up a good point about the resists. You have to worry more about elemental resists for the reflections, and I know he was hitting me with at least one poison that wasnt my own. I have no doubt a wizard could put together a 7400 poison resist, but that would detract from the elemental.

What I really needed in this thread was not a bunch of warlocks talking shiz, but someone to prove it, so thanks to Lenefir. A lot of plat and testing later, I too can do it. When I started the thread, I found it unlikely that any warlock except perhaps a contested mayong/avatar equipped lock would have a chance at him, and I have none of that gear.

Void Distortion was 54% of my dmg during the 8 minute fight, and that's very similar to Ball of Lava (I used to be a wizard), so I imagine that would be your primary nuke that you'd want a resist against for fear of it being reflected. I'll bet if you start a wizard thread on this topic, several wizards will talk shiz, but maybe one of them will post a screenshot. If they do, then you have a procedure. And I'll bet at least one will.

EDIT: Standing at max range helped a lot. I wouldnt have thought that previously. I suppose one thing I would consider (if I were a wizard) would be to put together a poison/heat resist equipment set just for Xhaviz for use with a Fire AA spec, or poison/cold set for an Ice AA spec. Xhaviz also tapped me occasionally with some Divine dmg, but it wasnt that bad so I'd just suck that up.

I went through the nest again last night. I think I'll have to retract my stating of the difficulty level of the Counsellor (3rd named). I did not cure myself last night, and was just fine eating the nox DoT with roughly 4.5K nox resist. The main thing was simply cancelling Nihilistics for that encounter.

How is everyone else doing cleaning out the zone? I'm noticing the more experience I have, the easier and faster it's becoming. I realize that goes without saying most of the time, but it seems more so in this case. That's probably because I'm not timid or nervous anymore.

I had been doing the first  2 floors for a long time without any difficulties at all and just not bothering with the last 2 nameds.

Killing the final mob was a challenge it was fun and felt great the first time he dropped but 2nd time i tried I left the zone with 100% armour and its no longer an achievement.

The first 3 nameds (5 as ive had good master chest success off switch and his mate) only takes 20-30 mins it doubles the time to kill the last two and to be honest for me there is no gain.

What I will say is the spec i used for this with the mana shield line has made soloing this and poets palace soo much quicker.

True enough im quite well geared and have a decent number of heal and power procs so others mileage may vary but im ripping through the groups without pause and i wasnt without mana shield (and the extra mitigation) this spec probably halfed my poets run time too.

Going though that first floor of nest i do feel very very powerful,  a good feeling.

Oh and i got within a hairs breadth of clearing acad and almost certainly could with a bit more effort.

However it was fun experimenting but im gonna go back to my raid spec as the necros seem to be spoiling my parse position.

Really? As I understand it, the last named has some kind of wicked stun. What is your strat for felling him?

Yeah the last name is wicked tough in Acad.  I can't imagine too many classes could solo him with that scripted encounter.  Maybe an SK with reaver on, or a chanter...Uncurable stun, plus adds that pop with him depopping and repopping, and he hits REALLY hard for a green.    agressiv

1st you dont have to fight em in the end room so you can split off the initial adds to drop them.

Because its a scripted encounter you dont have to kill the adds that spawn every 20-30% whatever it is you only need to drop the named and funny enough I dont seem to remember getting stunned without the named being rooted.

So its keep the adds locked down and slowly kill the named he doesnt seem to have that many HPs himself,  wasnt going to be easy but i was definately getting there.

To reinterate you dont have to kill the adds, the named does reapear if you dont kill them.

Dont understand why i didnt seem to be getting an uncurable stun.

It was also really quite easy to get to him , mana things are a pain and need to be dropped very quickly and dont forget to mellee them !

The 2nd named was a joke and I simply pulled from the doorway and didnt even bother to root it simply nuked it down.

The blade things were fairly tough in the 2nd named room (pairs of triple ups)

The mana thirsters inside Acadechism have an innate magic resistance from what I recall of someone charming and obsessing them to see their stats, which makes them such a pain to fight.  I got 20+ resists during one of my fights against 1 group of them, and that with 450 disruption (the skill buff, equipment and claymore proc), and all spells at master 1.D'Vinn only hits with the uncurable stifle if you are within close (melee) range, at least from my experience. I've never actually managed to solo him, but I'm sure it could be done with some careful planning, anti-stifle potions, and rooting.  The 2 first nameds and the trash up to D'Vinn are quite doable but I've never bothered to do more than my one failed attempt at soloing him.  For me, doing more than the first named in there just takes too much time to do while solo compared to the possible rewards, since after the first named they seem to drop "trash" too much of the time, at least from the many times I have been there with a full group.  And I hate those mana thirsters.

Hey,

I'm also interested in trying this out. What kind of stats/equipment will I need to start soloing Nest? I'm not mainly interested in going for the final mob right now, but rather work on the first nameds.

I have about 620 INT buffed with potion right now.

The Int helps, but it's not all important. I've been sitting at about 550 with a 30 minute Int potion.

The main thing is a battlemage spec, and heal/power proc gear.

You want high mit so that you can go through the zone quickly and reliably. If you cant do either, it does not matter if youre capable of beating the zone, because if you cant do it an efficient manner, you'll stop doing it, which imho is the same as not being able to do it. I detailed out how best to beef up your mit on the prior page. If you can get EoF legendary armor, and you put on the 3 mit adornments and point 8 points in the battlemage AA line (4th ability I believe), and augment that with a light chitin ring or two and the thick leather apron, you should be able to get around 2200 mitigation. I have 2557 on my lock, but I have some claymore mit gear and fabled armor helping me there. But when I only had 2250, I was still able to solo the nest quickly.

You want heal and power procs that proc off hostile spellcasts. Again I have a list of those on the prior page. The key to burning down named is not get overexcited, dont use group dmg or group root, and make cautious use of your health to power conversions. Staying frosty helps quite a bit.

You will need some custom resistance gear for xhaviz, also detailed on the prior page.

Hey,

Just wanted to let you know how it goes. I tried it out without buying the Staff of Spectral Fury with really slow success. Then I bought it and boy, was it worth the money. Along with the Vultak eye and the Gown of Glory I can really get going in there. I've been able to kill the first 3(I think) nameds (+Nutty/Switch) so far. I don't even have good resists or mitigation(which I will improve as I go).

Will get back with more info about my progress in there. I do agree though, that it must be doable efficiently... else I won't do it.

im wis/agil prop/hastenings spec and i solo the nest almost daily with the exception of the last named. Will be trying again thanks to some tips from off here so ty SMILEYMy trick for the councillor is just to go through either of the arches once the taskmaster is dead and target him. Then run back to where the taskmaster stood and walk forward to the wall. I then use FHS and Rift. It not only usually kills all his minions through the wall  but brings him running nicely into an empty room where you can fight with a lot more space. As soon as hes in range, i root and nuke.

Rather than go the arches I simply walk up to the middle of the wall and hit rift from there SMILEY

pre-targeting allows him to get root off as soon as he comes in range a little quicker
