Whoever is in charge of THAT email you just sent to your european players (at least the german one): Proof reading such important mails is mandatory and NOT AN OPTION!

It is a shame how poorly written that mail is. Not only does it have hard-to-read wording and style that will earn you bad marks at 4th grade here at school - it also has grammar that is simply wrong ;-(

Not even the essentials got taken care of - like subject and verb - all poorly mixed, used out of order or with words or combinations that are considered bad "slang".Sorry folks ... but I wonder if you have a professional agency to proof read such mails - if you didn't know yet ... poor german in such information that affects contracts here in germany can affect how authorities judge what is written! With PSS1 involved one would have thought they have their company lawyers involved - obviously that was not the case.

For the sake of the game and it's future: Get together with them and ask them for a professionally written email ASAP, please! And make up for that fault you just sent!

An other IMPORTANT fact SOE should keep in mind is EU privacy law...

IT IS NOT LLOWED BY SOE TO SHARE INFORMATION ABOUT EU RESIDENTS WITHOUT THEIR CONCENT!

This means that the manditory transition to 7Games (ProSiebenSat.1) is ILLEGAL according to EU privacy law! Therefor I DO NOT GIVE SOE my concent to share or transfer my information to ANY 3rd party, and thus ProSiebenSat.1.

Add me to the list of people who will abandon all SOE games if I am forced to open up a ProSieben Games account. I flat out refuse to do so - ProSieben is a crap outfit, and I'll have nothing to do with them. Either give me the option of staying on Station/the US Servers or I'll be cancelling all my current subscriptions/uninstalling all the SOE games. It's as simple as that. You can then move a dead account, happy trails.

Unfortunately you gave SOE permission to do just this when you accepted the EULA. From clause 12:

"You acknowledge and agree that we may transfer Game and your Account information (including your personally identifiable information and personal data) to the United States or other countries or may share such information with our licensees and agents in connection with the Game."

An exciting time in SOE history has arrived and we are very pleased to be celebrating it with you, some of the most passionate MMOPRG players! As many of you know, SOE has partnered with ProSiebenSat.1 Games to provide and market eight of its games to players in Europe, including EverQuest® IIDC Universe™ OnlineFree Realms®Star Wars®: Clone Wars Adventures™Magic: The Gathering - Tactics, and PoxNora®, as well as the upcoming PlanetSide® 2 and the next game in the EverQuest® franchise.

ifically, the above mentioned SOE games will be made available through the ProSiebenSat.1 Games service in more than 40 European territories, including Albania, Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Malta, Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, and the United Kingdom. Other countries may be added at a later date.

Under this new partnership with SOE, ProSiebenSat.1 Games will lead the effort to further enhance the presence of these SOE games in the European market. Expect more players and more focused attention on international players!

The EverQuest® II transition process to the ProSiebenSat.1 Games service will begin within the next 30 to 60 days. Once the transition takes place, you will need to have or create a ProSiebenSat.1 Games account in order to play EverQuest® II. We will be providing an easy way to transfer your existing SOE account and character data to your ProSiebenSat.1 Games account. Look for another email soon with specific instructions for completing the transfer.

If at the time of the transition you have a pre-paid, non-recurring EverQuest® IIsubscription, your subscription will be automatically transferred over to ProSiebenSat.1 Games so you can continue enjoying any remaining play time left on the account. If at the time of transition you have a pre-paid, recurring SOE subscription, your subscription will be transferred over to ProSiebenSat.1 Games; however, the subscription will not renew at the end of the current billing cycle. Once the billing cycle ends, you will be able to re-subscribe through the ProSiebenSat.1 Games service to continue enjoying the benefits of a similar membership.

European customers who maintain All Access accounts during the transition period will be transferred to ProSiebenSat.1 Games later on in the process. Further information on the transfer of All Access accounts will follow in the near future.

Again, we are very grateful to have such a diverse and passionate community, and want to assure you that SOE will continue expanding the EverQuest® II world. This email is to notify you that the migration of EverQuest® II is close. Please be on the lookout for our next communication which will explain in detail how to transfer yourEverQuest® II account to the ProSiebenSat.1 Games service.

None of it mattered - we're all sold to the german TV company.

Luckily I've got a sub that ends in june 2014, and by then i am counting on their being a new game that is owned operated and run by a company i can respect.

Why couldn't warning of the imminent transfer have been included during purchase of non-recurring subscriptions? I bought one in good faith a few days ago during the half price sale and appear to have wasted my money If I don't want to open new account with Pro7.

Bought a year sub at the weekend, be interesting to see how quickly Pro7 takes it to pay 2 win in regards of the marketplace with items etc. After the years up i doubt i'd come back tbh, its shame because as ever this trumps over every mmo at the minute.

I know this clause is there, but even US privacy lay does not allow a clause like this. Not to mention, EU lay in general rejects this clause immediately.

About the (yet again) privacy violation that SOE does in this case, I'll contact the EU bureau of privacy protection about this trancision. Even if SOE is allowed to share the information, I do have to give my concent to ProSiebenSat.1 to store my data, AND I WILL NOT give them my concent at all. So SOE can't transfer my private data at all to ProSiebenSat.1...

I've bought Age of Discovery last week, as well as 2500SC (both by creditcard). If I'm FORCED to transfer to  ProSiebenSat.1, I'll cancel both payments and never return to EQ2 again

I just got the email...so, sub cancelled, cc details removed and a sad farewell to Norrath and everyone in it, for now.

Hope the transition goes smoothly for those who decide to move their accounts to pro7, it will be interesting to see how things go for EU players that do, I'll be keeping an eye on the forums to see how it goes/how much change there actually is etc, and if it would be worth moving to Pro7... we will see.

Not the smartest time for this transition to take place, summer is here and players are looking for reasons not to log in to spend time with family and you have just given everyone a great big reason why they should not log in over the summer.

Splitpaw has been dying the death of a thousand cuts since this was first announced and was rumoured to Less than 300 people logged in at prime time at the weekend. I know of at least 30 of those who will not transfer across but rather just leave the game. I am quite sure however that you do not care in the slightest, the existing players are not the market you are putting your efforts into but rather the fly by free to play players who stick around for a month, spend some cash in the shop and move on.

This is a really sad day, I am going to miss spending time in game with friends. No matter how much you have tried to encourage me over the years to quit playing (account hacking, broken encounters, pathetic itemisation etc) I kept coming back.

Thank you, you have managed to do what I could not do myself. Make me stop playing.

Can I just add that I do NOT want the details of any of my accounts transfered to PSS1 and will be watching with interest for any form direct 'marketing' from that company.

People... read what they have said. They are not transferring your data to PSS1 automatically. They are going to provide a tool which YOU will have to use to transfer the data.

I dont think that there have been serious issues with trust. Sure they didnt always keep their word (i still recall a statement how beastlords are never going to be introduced to eq2) but otherwise the main issue is that they dont listen... well.. not true... there are people who listen, there might even be higher ups who listen, but they just choose to not care or simply say 'oh well this is just the minority of the playerbase and we can keep going' or 'this is a business decision, keep going'.

dont take me wrong, i hate what soe has decided, i've already cancelled my sub and truth be told, this latest expansion has been such a disappointment on the solo quests that i have stopped logging in. but... the continuous dumb-the-game-down events are also making me frustrated. i also think pss1 was a grave mistake, they dont have the expertise to handle such a game nor the proper security attitude. and shall i mention that pss1 has been recruiting volunteer GMs for DCUO ? that was like 'oh my god'... i wonder if they will do the same for eq2, gonna be a real winner.

There is no reason to disbelief that statement, it is the smart way to do it for both companies.

By making the player transfer with the help of a tool, both SOE and Prosieben know the accounts that are transfered are interested active players and the legals are taken care of, and Prosieben will not get half a million accounts dumped in their laps which are mostly inactive, because it is not the companies that does the actual decision, but players with intend to keep playing.

Unless there show up to be a huge security whole in the transfer itself, both companies has their hineys covered doing it this way. Got to give them that.

Second, as I understand it, Prosieben extendedly encourage game cards, easy accessable in all the the mentioned contries. So I find it likely that credit card information is not transfered as a extended security measure, hence the reason recurring accounts has to reactive their sub once they are transfered. Even if they do support credit card payment, noone has to give it to them - pay with game cards, now you have easy access to them, there is no reason to give out your credit card info to a company you do not trust.

So when it comes to credit cards, no disrespect, but there is nothing in this deal, that says you have to worry. Don't give it to Prosieben and play with game cards instead until your other fears about their abilities are confirmed or laid to rest.

I would worry more about what type of marketplace items Prosieben thinks are nifty.

I would worry about wether the community is getting split apart by making on for SOE players and one for Prosieben players, so we get back to the totally senseless issue we had with 2 forums having the same key features about the same game, when we had EQ2 extended as a seperate service. Only the support forums need to be seperate.

I would worry about segregation along the way, that is not just for accounts, but for servers. That "for our own good" some day all Prosieben players end up on european servers and all SOE players end up on US servers, because the ip block is just a switch away. But that is hopefully just my inner paranoid conspiration theorist having its way.

Or that life are made too unpleasant/disadvantous for those playing on servers the other side of the ocean than their residence, that they have to server transfer to get equal treatment for the same fee.

But SOE and Prosieben has been aware of these fears for a very long time now, and they taken a long time to iron out the details and technical issues, so I am personally going to extend the trust, that they are not going out of line on these things by living up to our worse fears.

After all, they have a upcomming game which success in Europe relies on this deal not totalling into the ditch. A *smurfed* off player base can't help to have unwanted effect on commentaries etc. on articles about said game and its distributors.

As for their sevengames.com website, it is barely a step up from alaplay in my opinion. Kind of dull, boring and uninspiring.

Going to try activating my future account and hope for the ability to skin it with fluffy pink donkeys with wings! j/k, but something less grey would do it, I feel like I should be looking for their ghetto warzone first person shooter entering that site.

Wow, so SOE send me an email using terms such as 'Historic' and 'Celebration'.

They're not quite the feelings I'm experiencing right now, no, I would use different words to sum up my feelings, maybe like: Betrayed, back-stabbed, unwanted, unvalued, disregarded etc.

You can shove this P7S1 deal where the sun don't shine. Let me be clear about this because this is a two way street. If you cut me off and cast me away to some third rate, mickey mouse, facebook game company then I cut you out of my thoughts when it comes to past, current and future mmo's.

Heck, I've been a customer of yours since EQ1, purchased every game you've made over the years across multiple accounts. That all stops as off today, from now on SOE is dead to me.

Smed, how can you screw things up so badly yet again ? really, I'm struggling to keep this post within forum guidelines/rules because of the sheer amount of anger I feel towards SOE and your decision right now. I just hope that when the realisation occures a year or so from now about how this killed off the European customer base in SOE games, and people start analysing this the way they did the NGE debacle, well I just hope that we the players get more than platitudes and corporate apologies, this time I expect heads to roll and at the highest of levels.

Anyone who has had a single hand in putting this deal together should hang their heads in shame at having any involvement, the treatment meated out to your European customers has been the most disgraceful I can recall in all my years playing online games.

Thanks for the years of great gaming, shame it ended like this.

they already did - the same time they started to look for dcuo. (looks like coldor removed that posting in the meantime .. well ... but it was there - I think i quoted it in this thread many pages ago)

What I am interested in: how many of you are new to this whole issue? It feels like many new faces are showing up here to complain. Well - would have helped if we had all of you in when they first announced this (maybe) ;-(

So I guess I have 30 - 60 days left before I quit SOE for good. Nice kick in the teeth for near 15 years of loyalty  .

Exit this way

You noticed the outrage from new people too. I am surprised to see people not aware of this after half a year.

I posted about it in the guild motd at the time, since it is a significant upcomming change.

I was aware that it was being discussed and believed that the transfer would be OPTIONAL. The mail I got today sounded rather like it was a done deal and things would now be transitioned for european players:

Examples:

"The EverQuest® II transition process to the ProSiebenSat.1 Games service will begin within the next 30 to 60 days. Once the transition takes place, you will need to have or create a ProSiebenSat.1 Games account in order to play EverQuest® II"

"If at the time of the transition you have a pre-paid, non-recurring EverQuest® II subscription, your subscription will be automatically transferred over to ProSiebenSat.1 Games so you can continue enjoying any remaining play time left on the account."

Of course it is possible that "transition" simply means that the option to transfer becomes available to interested parties, and that it is in fact optional, and, if I chose to remain on the US servers, I would not get IP blocked from doing so, but that part is not explicitly mentioned. Maybe this mail was simply badly worded and leaves too many open questions.

I don't think you get IP blocked if you stay on US but you will still need Proseb log in

I guess I am in minority then when i say I can't wait for the transition to happen.

No, I am not mad SMILEY. I just think that SOE is clearly dropping the ball and it's pretty obvious where the game will end up if nothing happens. Maybe PSS can bring a bit of life back into it, the way SOE never wanted to.

Do I think PSS are a great company ? No, far from that, but at this point, ANY change is good. If it does not pan out then at least they tried. I am glad that my current subs will be honoured ( I've just bought 2 years of gold sub ), so i don't have to pay Pss a dime if I don't feel they do a good job.

Bring it on, I say. It will be nice to escape the terible policing this place gets every time the questionable quality of the product is attacked.

Transfer is NOT optional. If you want to log in from an EU address, you'll need a Prosieben account. If you do not want to go to P7S1, here is the door. Don't close it behind you, I'll take it the second the transfer goes through.

They changed the original deal, so now Prosieben will manage European accounts - all of them, no exceptions  (besides something might be different for people who travel between the two regions) - but players can play the server they want. SOE keep managing US and others accounts, and those are also eligible to play whichever server they want.

The IP block there is prevents you - as a european - to log on as a SOE costumer and if you subscribe or need CS, it is Prosieben you deal with, not SOE.

Bring it on, I say. It will be nice to escape the terible policing this place gets every time the questionable quality of the product is attacked.

PSS1, as I understand it, are only "managing" European subs/cash shop and marketing on behalf of SOE. They have no involvement in the way the game will develop, this will be soley in SOE's hands. Therefore I can't see any changes to the game, it's mechanics or content etc., as a result of this change.

I don't think you get IP blocked if you stay on US but you will still need Proseb log in

What would be the point of that? I am happy with my Station account and see no reason why I should be forced to sign up with PSS1, if I don't intend to play on "their" servers.

If what you say is accurate, it still looks like I'll have to pull the plug on SOE in general, because there's no way that this crap outfit PSS1 is getting my info or my money.

I just saw some clarifications by other people (thank you guys) so I understand what's going on now. I wasn't aware of the changes to the deal. Sadly, they'll have to do without me on this one. I am not dealing with PSS1.
