Last expansion we tried a different style of daily quest. Rather than having them mission-style where you get 1 per day every day, we made 7 quests that can be repeated once per week, but you could do them all on the same day if you preferred.
  • Quest-style means they don't show up on your mission timer, but can all be done at once.
  • Mission-style means they automatically switch which one is offered every day, and you can see on your mission timer exactly when the next will be available.
Which style of dailies would you like to see in this expansion?

I liked the way they were handled in ToT, I felt much less burnt out not having to log in every alt every single day or miss out (though I could still choose to do so if I wanted)

Both ways have their positives and their drawbacks.

AoM method did make you a bit burnt out because you had to do them every single day, but you could do them at any point that day or even just get them to do them the next day with that day's quest.

ToT method meant you could do them all on the weekend, but you couldn't even start them until exactly one week after you'd completed them, which made them later every single week and I ended up missing a few weeks because of it, especially if I couldn't log in at the exact time I'd completed them or if I couldn't remember exactly when I'd finished.

I'd prefer the ToT method if there was a way to make it so it wasn't that exact moment I'd completed it. That was horrid. Otherwise I'd say the AoM method. I missed fewer total quests in AoM.

I absolutely loved the way we could choose to do one a day, or knock out a whole week's worth at once. I have a bazillion alts that are all maxed crafters (3 servers, at least 1 of each on all of them), and logging in each one every day to do dailies made me want to gouge my eyes out with a spork Frown

I, too, really appreciated being able to do all the dailies in one swell foop. I have too many alts, and being able to finish one in a single login session helped a lot.

I'm all for ToT style, the argument for AoM doesn't hold water; you'd have to wait a week to do the daily quests anyway, and worse: if you missed a day you cannot do it at all until next week.

Doing quests at my own pace made it fun, instead of a chore.

Then please oh God, find a way so I don't have to start the exact moment I finished last week or be even further behind for the future weeks. I absolutely hated that part of it.

I do agree I hated that it was THAT specific, and I'd LOVE a bit more leeway (if they were on an 24 hour timer, maybe 18 or 20 would be doable?)

We can look at shortening that refresh time to give you a little leeway. Smile

Or just make them reset each Thursday like all of the other weeklys and that way, we have time to pick them up and complete them during the week/weekend knowing that they will reset again on Thursday irregardless of when we completed them.

That sounds like it would work right?

I've really enjoyed being able to do the dailies in one go, rather than every day go to npc to do them. Not having to parade alts through zones on a daily basis is wonderful. Hope you go this route!

I would not be opposed to that either. Whatever works best, though alt swapping every day is low on my list of things I enjoy having to do.

I like the "reset each Thursday" (or whatever given day) idea myself!

And just to clarify, I meant let us grab them ALL at ANY time, but have them reset on a set day (of your choosing).

Could probably even keep the whole "complete your missions or forfeit the next weekly" system in place... I personally never had a huge problem with that.

Actually I like the reset idea for daily quests as well and wish all dailies used it consistently. For example, the reset for dailies would happen at 12:00am PST every night, and then weeklies reset every week on a given day at 12:00am PST. It's hard to keep up with "every 18 hours from whenever you last did it" or "whatever time last week you might have finished".

Note that I would consider a "complete all 7 missions this week" a weekly and not a daily, but for actual dailies, I would prefer a specific reset time rather than 18 or 24 hour type of thing.

It sounds that way, but due to the way we set them up, it would actually require having 7 separate weekly mission groups for the 7 daily missions, so your mission tab when you checked your timers would have a list like
Tradeskill daily quest 1
Tradeskill daily quest 2
Tradeskill daily quest 3
Tradeskill daily quest 4
Tradeskill daily quest 5
Tradeskill daily quest 6
Tradeskill daily quest 7
Tradeskill weekly quest
...which would be rather clunky and really taking up a lot more space than needed, not to mention more complex to set up.

I'm just finishing up the daily quests so I'll try making them repeatable like Thalumbra but on a slightly shorter timer, so you have a wider margin to get them done. Like, maybe 6.5 days instead of the full 7 day repeat. Thanks for the feedback, all! Smile

Thank you that sounds good. And thank you for explaining the reasoning why something is done too!

  • Quest-style means they don't show up on your mission timer, but can all be done at once.
This was my favorite as a compulsive crafter with every crafter maxed out. I would split up the days I did them and it made me very very happy not to spend time logging each one in every single day!

These are now on beta, although I set the repeat timer to 1 hour for testing purposes, that'll change before the end of beta. Once you've finished Lyraquel's last quest you'll be able to get them from Oogthor in the goblin area.

Just as an FYI, Domino, since there's not a good category for this one, someone might want to tell Scribbleclaw, the faction merchant that sits next to Oogthor, the daily questgiver, that he's a , not

[BUG] The daily quests when logging them show Arcannium coin as reward. I'm guessing that should be the Sovereign Rile coins. Smile

Snacky Snacks requires FIVE times the combines of any other daily for the same reward. That's...excessive. Clicking for the sake of clicking.

When I went to turn the snacks in, Oogthor just said "thanks, that was quick" and I got no reward and the quest won't complete.

I got the Unlikely Saviors daily and crafted the Slug Call drum, but the game won't let me use it "at this time" on any slug anywhere and the quest itself has disappeared from my journal. Might it have something to do with having the pup quest at the same time and doing that first?

Snacky Snacks is bugged. You will need to delete it before you can hand in any of the other crafting dailies. Just skip it for now, and go back in an hour and do the other 6 for your faction grind.

For Unlikely Saviors, you should have also gotten a message in your main chat window, unless you have it filtered oddly, that you can only have one one creature leashed at a time, so if you have the pup still leashed but not handed in, you'll get an error message (been there did that, was trying to save myself some back and forth). As far as it disappearing from your journal, these dailies on the weekly timer are doing the same thing that other repeatables like the ToT daily/weeklies do - hiding itself. Every one of them that I already completed at least once are hiding themselves without warning and I have to randomly go in and click "show hidden" in my journal. I didn't think to post here about it since it seems to be a longstanding game feature, not something specific to beta.

Upon further investigation, even though the quest (Snacky Snacks) is flagged as ready to turn in to Oogthor ( - Return to Oogthor), the 10 drinks are not in my bag. The 10 food are there. (along with the other stuff I crafted for completed dailies that weren't removed from my inventory). There's no Book over Oog's head.

I should have paid a bit more attention. I see the Rile coin and the Arcannium. Sorry about that!

I have already turned in the pup and gotten credit for it. Still no slug love. I have Show Hidden Quests checked. Nada. So I can't even delete Unlikely Saviors to give it another go. But I have this spiffy slug drum. Which is nice.

Appreciate this. I really do.
Although the poll is complete, my two cents was my schedule allowed crafting once a week on Sunday nights, so this will make me thuper thuper happy!
For all you do Domino, since way back when... thank you!

Just a heads up. I can't turn in any of the weekly/daily quests, I have 6 complete in my journal, but he says, "back already? You's be finishin up these tasks in no time, thank you."
It gives me the option to say "your welcome" and then no reward, no acceptance, so they are stuck in my quest journal.

I'll keep checking.

Slight update on Snacky Snacks: Upon deleting the quest from my journal (and I mean literally, the second I deleted it), ALL of the dailies became available again on the questgiver. I know they're on an accelerated timer, but Snacky Snacks seems to be doing odd stuff.
