I am almost positive I am not the only person to rant about this subject. Why are sparkle/collectable nodes not treated like chests if your in a group? I have no idea how many high level dungeon's I have been in where there was always 1 or 2 people always coveting the sparkles!

As a healer, I am always in the back. Please please make it to where if you are grouped and someone loots a sparkle, it gets sent to everyone to roll on. /grovel. Also, Please understand that not all of us can join guild groups and that leaves us to rely on PUG's. To say that I should monitor my group is absurd with what they do when half the time my eyes are glued on health bars.

Why? Allergy?Everyone can join a guild. Regardless of your play style, there is a guild out there for you. So, I'm stumped when people state that joining a guild is not an option for them.

This idea has merit, if only as a way of discouraging group members from wandering off after sparklies in the middle of a dungeon crawl and getting lost, not being available when the group gets into the next fight, or just annoying the heck out of everyone else. If they only have a 1 in 6 chance of getting that shiny, they may not bother at all.

I don't think he ment that he wasn't in a guild, but that he might not always get guild groups which means lots of pickup groups. I for example never got a guild group's because I was only able to play durning the hours of 7am and noon when I started playing. That ment that I also lost play time when the servers use to go down daily at 9 to 10 am. Now that I can play from noon to 6pm, I still don't see alot of guild groups or groups in general because its just not a USA time frame for groups after playing for 3 years on my server.

In good groups shineys are shared.... or at least when someone picks one up which he/she already has, offering it to the others. No need to change anything in my opinion....Femke.

When the group is forming up,  ask if the group will /random on ones picked up along the way.   When you see someone go off to harvest one,   ask if the group will /random on them.If you catch one in a safe spot offer it for /random and see if the the group follows suit on later ones.   Other pug groups,  I've seen just rotate who harvests the shiny rather than /random.   Yes its easier in guild groups, as in guild we tend to not have to ask,  and just know that we'll be /randoming shinies on the run between fights.  Its actually kind of fun to /gsay look an [insert rare shiny here]  /random 100 if you can use it.

Simple solution. If you must PUG... be the group leader, establish "thou shalt not chase sparklies" during a fight, and boot anyone who violates that rule. Otherwise live with it. Sparklies are harvestables. I don't want to have to roll on harvastables in a group either...They do not need to change game mechanics because some people are easily distracted.Particularly not for the benefit of PUGs.You can already /random on them. Just like anything else.

You apparently didnt read what I wrote. Try to not be deconstructive, as seen in some of your other posts in the past Spyd.

No matter what is said in the beginning of a group, you always have one person in your group who has one chromosome to many and ignores what is said and just loots them w/out thinking about it. To say it doesnt need changing is rediculous. Why is it not fair for the people in the back to have a chance to loot extremely valuable random spawning items? The only person who would oppose a system as such are people who do try to be the first to the nodes.

I hate the argument "watch who you group with"... As if I need to bring a list of rules to every PUG I join. Get real. Its just tiring is all, and half the time your PUG is thrown together because its late or there's not much of the preferred class needed online.

I made the code request for group lotto on ground spawns but it did not make it into Kunark. I will see about getting it for the next GU if possible.

Why? It's common sense & truth, two things with which I dearly hope you have no issues.

Personally, I group with guildies about 99.9% of the time, because I loathe PUGs with every fiber of my being. When I group with guildies, we have no shiny issues, because we're friends & friends share.

& IMHO, that's what this whole freekin' game is about, anyway: friends. Because if it wasn't for friends, what the heck would you play for????

Because there are apparently no limits to which SOE won't stoop to pacify the whiners.

Whatever, it won't matter to me, but I dearly wish you people would spend your time on actual problems.

Edit: is this going to apply to ground spawn quest items & harvest nodes, as well?

Awesome! I wasn't too happy to see that they brought back the ability to harvest in combat but this almost makes it bearable .. thank you!

That last part is a good question. But for all we know this is a quick change. "Actual problems" tend to be a bit more intensive.

If someone is doing stuff like that--politely call them out on it. If they give you grief and/or continue to do it remove them from group if you're the leader, or leave the group yourself if not. If that person is in a guild contact one of their officers (they aren't hard to find).

These are the sort of problems players can handle amongst themselves in a variety of ways--the less SOE involvement in dictating player behavior the better, in my opinion.

Why would this be needed. Its already rather easy to control the harvestables. I am usually a group leader in the groups I am in. This is how I deal with the situation. I will ask the group who wants to be in charge of randoming off the shinies at the begininng of the group. This person then becoems the only person who should loot the shinies. I have caught people trying to SNEAK a shiny without anyone noticing and I have found a very simple solution for this problem. As the group leader I will message one of the evacers in the group. I will then pull a encounter and at the same time hit a macro that drops the person from the group. As soon as the person is dropped from the group I have my group evac. No it doesn't make me the most popular person always but people learn in my groups things are done fairly and the rest of the group usually agrees with the decision.  I have only had to do this twice in almost 2 years of play so I don't think its as big of an issue as people try to make out as long as you let the group know what the plan is in advance.

Because new players like myself can't join the guilds that are actually recruiting. Lol 70+, i'll get right on that.

Nonsense. My guild, for example, accepts any intelligent & friendly adult with a character over 10th level.

I'm sure there are similar guilds on your server, but you need to look for them.

As a lowbie, you likely won't find the recruitment window of any use.  It only shows a handfull of guilds and never low level ones.  Watch public channels in low level zones, group with people and ask them about their guild and if they openly recruit, use /who commands to watch for low level activity, post on your server forum.

Why? If I want to ignore a mob to pick up something from the ground I should be able to do it. I do it all the time irl when I'm cleaning and my kids are being pests. SMILEY

I actually started out on Mistmoore and found it disappointingly dead to newbies so rerolled a PvP server with my friends to at least see some life, even if 99% of it are level locked PvP twinks comparing e-peens. I think, my whole time there, the only person I saw was a full mastercrafted afk guy on the newbie island SMILEY

This has been discussed many, many times.  Right along with resource node locking (like encounter locking) that prevents anyone else from harvesting your node for 5 seconds. Both are great ideas, but garnish no favor from game devs/ designers. So, for ?'s, we set a simple alpha harvest policy, and offer to share what we don't want/need.  If someone violates the alpha policy, they find themselves quickly looking for a new group.  Alpha ?'s isn't the best solution, but it works for now...

It isn't whether my way is better then changing the code or not.  The real question is with all the other bugs and problems in the game why should we be asking the Devs to waste their time on a problem that can easily be solved in game by the players, rather then lets see, the zone crashing problems in a lot of zones.  Or lets see now  lets have them spend the next month developing and debugging the code for this randoming of the shinies rather then working on adding more content to the game.  Thats the point.  People look to others to solve their problems for them.  This is a rather trivial problem that can be solved in game by the people playing rather then wasting the Devs time which could be spent making the game more enjoyable.  That is the real jist of my posting here.  Yes to you and me it might look like a simple game fix that should take about three seconds to fix and make these shinies lootable by the group but in fact it probably would take changing thousands of lines of code for such a simple fix, then debugging that code, then testing that code and fixing the errors.  So lets save the Devs the time so they can come up with more interesting content (And after RoK we all know they really need this time) and solve this one all by ourselves.

Allow me to place a soap box opposite you...

Obviously SOE  had enough people bothered by it that it got the attention of the devs.....  When 1 shiny can potentially be sold for multiple plat, whey wouldn't it be thrown into a lotto when grouped??  Is it fair that the first one there loots it?

Oh, and you said earlier you group with guildies 99% of the time....wow...grats,,,,I'm mighty proud of you, but hey bud...there are many many people out there who have no guildies on at the time of needing a group...so we must rely on PUGs...and NO it is not acceptable to bring a list of rules when joining a PUG....many times you seek a group for a long time before you get one and you do not want to jeapordize it by giving a list of demands.

One could argue that YOU sir are a whiner because you dont want to have to click on a little box when someone loots a shiny.

Boo hoo.....SOE is going to make a change that I do not need therefore I will complain about people who want it...wah..wah..
