Why did I put "right now"? Because this is still being worked on, and won't be the permanent level up path. It is what is available as of Friday, Oct. 20 to get you eager beta testers going with your tradeskill leveling.

1. You need to have scribed your class essentials book from Maldura.

1a) If you are tradeskill buffed, this means that you would need to do the ToT crafting line at least up to the point where the crafting daily/weekly quest giver in the room with the forge of Brell unlocks. Then you can do the dailies/weekly from her for your faction and tokens to get the books from the vendor beside her.

2. You will need to grind level 100 rush orders from any rush order NPC. Not lower ones, just the 100 ones. This means you will need level 100 harvests from Thalumbra. You will need enough for 7-14 rush orders depending on your vitality, xp potions, xp items (mark of the far seas, prayer shawl, censer from ToT).

3. At level 101, the level 100 option disappears from the rush order NPCs and is replaced by one that calls itself a level 110 rush order. For all classes BUT woodworker, weaponsmith and carpenter, you can then use that new rush order, with the books and materials from Oliver and level all the way to 110. (That rush order is currently broken for woodworker and weaponsmith, as of Oct 20 Carpenters will continue to use their level 100 mats and recipes all the way to 110, due to the carp 101-100 books being empty until art is ready).

This is where it stands ***right now***. Again, this WILL change, and I expect there to be enough chatter that any updates by me to this thread will get lost. PLEASE USE THE CRAFTING CLASS STICKIES THAT CAITH MADE TO NOT ONLY SEE THE CURRENT STATUS OF BUGS/UPDATES WITH THAT CLASS, BUT TO POST YOUR OWN BUGS AND FEEDBACK. THANKS!

To clarify, after yet more tells from folks with questions, the combines themselves give you next to no movement in your xp bar. The writ hand-in, however, will give you a solid chunk.

This is still the most updated information on how to level right now, but since folks are missing the link I buried in there, here's the link for those non-copies who want to run through What Lies Beneath for their Maldura recipe book. (We don't know if there will be a workaround for this, so this is for those who are eager to get going while waiting.)

Note the link at the very top of that article for The Captain's Lament that also needs to be completed before you can do the ToT line. It is just some quick running around/

With Sunday's patch, the KA books went on Oliver (instead of the ToT ones that we need) - so buffed folks will still need to do some questing before they can do the level 101 writs. I'm sure this will be fixed soon.

The rush orders using ToT recipes is just a temporary solution, mind you, so that folks can get in and leveling. More ... stuff ... will be incoming as he has time to get it in.

Woodworkers and Weaponsmiths! When you hit 101 and you suddenly can't do the new level 110 rush order because the recipes aren't in the level 101 book, grab (untimed) level 100 writs instead until you level into the proper book(s) for the items requested. It is slower, since you're doing twice the combines, but at least it is something to tide you over until he has time to rework the leveling path for us.

With today's changes it takes about 17 writs per level now. That is a HUGE difference.

Any reason given for the xp nerf? Full vitality, 110% potion, 3% Tot censer, 20% ring, PoP illusion, etc... getting 8% per writ. This does not help testing beta recipes, please increase xp per item crafted from 150 to something meaningful for the expansion (and keep it for live, the writ can go back to what it is now on live if necessary though)
Raising the item crafted xp will help get those items crafted that are not in the writs.
Visit Whte's crafting w/Depots (Massive homes) in beta, free access to all depots to visitors.

Any ETA on when Woodworker will be able to log level 101 to 109 rush order writs?

We haven't been given ETAs for any of it, which is why I have been updating this thread with current leveling paths for folks that don't want to wait for fixes to come in before they grind.

Niami,

Just wanted to say thanks for the info! I have to say as a Ranger/Woodworker main (no crossbow, no writs) this has been a pretty sad Beta so far, but its good to see someone has thought of some work arounds while the patching continues!

I'd really recommend that the xp change discussion go over to the thread(s) started about this and keep this thread on-topic so folks know where to find the most current information on how they can level at all right now, since that's subject to change with any patch.

Bumping this, since the Maldura books still aren't on the buffer, and buffed folks need the info on the quest to get that book, etc.

The Friday night/Saturday morning patch should see Oliver (the tradeskill buffer) stocked with the Deepforge books, for those who do not have their Maldura recipes, and who want to do level 100 rush orders to level to 101.

Woot! Woodworker Rush orders are working now Smile There is one that is probably bugged although I appreciate the fact it takes less effort LOL. Once in a while I get one that calls for 3 of the same item twice and they both update with one combine. Not complaining just wanted to give you a heads up.

Ok, just an update for those who are just-now scrambling to work on the beta tradeskill achievement.

  • Level 100 crafter - run level 100 rush orders from your home crafting society, guild hall, etc. Nothing lower will do the trick. Old content quests won't do it either. They don't have the xp needed. Trust Mum, run rush orders. (Mule over progress and innovation potions, if you have them, to speed things up)
  • Level 101+ crafter - run level "110" rush orders. Yes, they say 110, they give xp as if they are level 106, but the items needed in them are from your level 101 book. Confusing, yes, but temporary.
If you have a Mark of the Far Seas, equip it. Equip the crafting version of your censer, and your prayer shawl. Every dribble of xp bonus helps on hand-in of those rush orders.

Again, this is just for beta purposes for the achievement. In theory, a better writ progression will be put in place once we're sure the items aren't going to be juggled around in books anymore. (And of course the sig line will hopefully be in "soon" after launch.)

Also remember your Hammer of Adept Hands (6-year vet reward or loyalty merchant over on live), as the extra vitality refill comes in handy.
