![]() Hi y'all! My room mate and I are deeply considering attending this year, but aside from there being some panels and things we're not really sure what goes on at Fan Faire. Do people usually bring their computers with them to this sort of thing? We're non-Anime convention virgins, so aren't sure what to expect. If we don't bring out computers, will there be systems available that we can use to participate in in-game events? Typically we like to people-watch and take photos of folks who are dressed up, but is it generally just a big hang-out or should we be prepared for lots of long lines and rigorous activity? Also, is $50 a day for food and shopping a safe limit? (Excepting maybe one or two clothing splurges... or something) Should we plan on tanning beforehand? Do gamers spend much time poolside? I saw the food post and found it very helpful. I'm sure that there's plenty else to do in Vegas as well, but am not sure how much time there will be to wander around between events. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! |

![]() Hello Sinaya! So, computers are definitely optional. I plan to bring my laptop however there is a computer gaming area (you have to sign up in between EQ tournaments however) if you want to login between activities. Expect long lines for registration, banquests and big activities. Costuming is optional, but enjoyable if you do. $50-$100 a day should be sufficient, however I don't know how you like to shop. Generally there are merchant tables with swag gear for sale. Then if you go around town, make sure you bring more money. Shows in Vegas can be expensive ($50 on up.) I am going to see Phantom of the Opera on Weds before and they are $150 tickets. As far as poolside, does Bally's have a pool? I don't remember. However, when we stayed at the RIO in 2007 there wasn't much time to sit at the pool unles it was before the activities. Activities usually open around 10 am. There is usually a big shin dig activity that will be announced. Again in 2007, it was a poolside meet and greet. Just a side note, in the past 3 years I have been there, if you are heavily into the forums and stuff for your game, the days are pretty booked back to back so visiting Vegas sites may mean you miss a panel or two. ONe final recommendation: get in line early (if you can) as the lines tends to get long. Hope you have a great time! Cirem |

![]() On Friday and Saturday there will be plenty to do... Panels to attend, Live Quests to participate in, Tournaments to take part in... Then in the evening there will be more stuff to do as well... I can't talk about it yet Bally's does has a pool, my kids had a blast in last year, there are a ton of vendor's to buy from too they bring all kinds of fun stuff. Plus there will be the Phat loot store... You can bring your PC but you don't have to... I bring my laptop but that's only cause I have to work while I am there I hope you and your roommate make it to the show, you will have an awesome time! |

![]() Someone had asked a slightly similar question earlier about what takes place during fan faire. Here's the thread (at the end is a list of what I've seen go down on the prior faires I've been to that might be helpful). |

![]() Depending on where you eat and what you plan to eat, $50 a day should be enough, unless you plan to drink alot, cause outside the casino drinks are expencive. Usually SoE provides light snacks one night,(last year that was sandwitches), and Open Bar with crackers and such another night, and a full catered dinner the last night at the banquite. As for food on friday and saterday, if your really into your games and such and plan on going to a number of the panels or doing the live events, you may want to bring some snacks with you as they are run back to back all day long and you will have little time to get food between events. Though I have clocked going to one resteraunt(I named it in that food thread) at 15mins round trip including eating, so some place like that would be good too. |
