Hello I just wanted to add my 2p.

I run Windows 7 64bit.

I don't use the station launcher either, because the first time I did it simply disappeared and didn't start the game.  However, I was worried that I'd be missing out on important updates so I attempted to use it again today.  Like others, I am experiencing small downloads that never complete, resulting in the error message about not being able to move a file and to make sure the game is not running.

I have run the launcher 'as administrator' and I'm still getting the same error.  I shall keep an eye on this thread to see if a fix becomes available.

Interestingly, the game didn't unpack itself into the place I expected it to be in, namely Program Files folder.  It unpacked into 'Program Data' and I had to turn off hidden files and folders to find it.  This is unusual, can anyone tell me why SOE chose to do this?  And is it perhaps linked to the broken launcher?

edit: since running the launcher I can now no longer click on the .exe file to log in.  I suppose this means a fresh download is in order.  Great stuff.

edit 2: I tried to uninstall EQ2 but for some reason it's not listed in the uninstaller feature of Windows.  I went back to this website to reinstall the game and this time I made sure it was to install in Program Files.  What happened was that I was presented with a different launcher.  Instead of the blue launcher I have a big brown one now with a button that shouts 'PLAY' at me.  I pressed this button and was told to make a new character and found a huge list of servers.  Realising that I'd forgotten to change from 'US English' to 'EU English' I went back and corrected my mistake.  Now the launcher works but again I cannot login.  I suppose that's down to the busted login server though.

I'm not keen on messing around with my pc, so I hope word comes soon from a Developer.  Sony is a big company, I can't imagine why they don't have the staff to keep people informed.  Blizzard manages it.

Still no workie for me either. I just re-opened my account and bought sentinel's fate, but he game won't start.

The patcher always seem to hang on the .vpk files when it does its scan.  I deleted the files in that folder and let the patcher redownload... They redownloaded but still hangs up on them.

Some errors i get is something about disk is full, downloader requires 3900 megs of space... blah blah.  Another error i get is regarding the EQ2SETTINGS.EXE file..  The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000006).  I got that message when it was trying to download char_exp2_dragon_generic.vpk

I've pretty much tried everything i can on my end...  made sure the port forwarding is correct...  windows and router firewall...  I just reformatted my computer 3 days ago, xp service pack 2.  Any help (or patch fix) would be awesome!

Update to issue:

I uninstalled eq2 and did a download install of the game.  Previously I installed from the SO expansion and d/l'ed the rest.  But this time d/l'ed the whole thing.

It works fine now, i'm able to log in without any problems.

This is an unforced patch.

You can bypass the patcher and go direct to the game by double clicking on everquest2.exe in your eq2 folder.

As people said earlier as well, I cant use the exe, I get the error:

EverQest II has detected an unrecoverable error and must shut down.

E:liveeq2frameworkrendersrcVeShader.cpp (10223):

m_pPixelShader

00939950

Anyways, I want to access this login screen sometime soon or I want a refund. I haven't even created a character yet...

Hello Everyone,

Tried logging in a few minutes ago.  Anyone else having launcher issues?  The launcher will come, connect, and show PLAY, but when I click on it, the launcher goes away and nothing happens...

I have this problem, I run the launcher and after I click PLAY, nothing seems to happen.

However I have tracked something, when I click PLAY, I see Everquest2.exe start in Resource manager, it loads up to 2000kb or so and then just quits with no error message.

However, if I reduce my windows account to basic user, the game starts normally when I press PLAY and when I give the account back the admin rights, it doesnt. Same with new user account, admin rights -> game doesnt work, basic user rights -> works. I am using windows Vista x64 on a laptop, I have never had the same problem with XP on my desktop.

Same problem today as other folks:  Station launcher fires up, attempts to download and install a patch, tells me it is unable to copy data and then restarts 5 seconds later.

Tried running from the executable EQ2 file, no dice.

Seriously, SOE?  Two plus weeks of this?

That's not even the same problem as the post above you, much less why this thread started.  Never fear starting your own thread.

On the Station Launcher, can you go to Help, then About Station Launcher, then tell me what version it says you have?
