Nektulos/Guk and Befallen/Oasis Server Merge Discussion Thread - Page 4

I'm reading the thread and seeing some have moved things out of banks and brokers before the merge. Were we supposed to do that? I have 6 characters, most with houses packed with things that I didn't do anything with. I also have a lot of things in the shared bank including coin. Most of my characters sell on the broker and have sales chests in their homes. Again, I left them all there as is. Should I be worried that everything will be gone when this merge finishes? I was on the Befallen server if that matters. TIA SMILEY

Mail isn't being "borked". Knowing a little about server structures, it is more than likely that the mail server is completely seperate from the other servers, and probably controls mail for multiple if not all the actual game servers. And that would be totally correct.. because the "domain" names of the leaving servers need to be changed to the names of the final servers. All this would need to drop while the upgrades are happening.

The broker is a good idea due to prices being different between servers. Other than that. Houses and such are fine. I pulled everything from my toons off the broker so I can see how the prices will be on Oasis...

/em still wants a Befallen Shrine on Oasis... And a Faydark Shrine next to it....

You didn't need to move anything, some people are doing it "just in case". SMILEY

If you have characters on both servers that are being merged, and both characters have items in the shared bank, one of the banks will have it's contents put in your overflow. This is because we can't merge the two shared banks into one bank due to slot conflicts. So if you log in and find stuff in your overflow, thats most likely the cause. Everything else should merge fine.

Update:

We're ahead of schedule on the merges today. Chat should be back up any minute now and the servers are being QA'd as we speak. Hopefully if there are no QA issues we will have the servers unlocked in an hour or two.

I don't mind the merge...I chose Nektulos because of the name as I played EQ1 and still do occassionally.....SO...could we get the server renamed???

Rothgar, you and your team are fantastic! You guys have gotten this down to a science. Early up time would be fantastic! I'm not sure if you saw my earlier question, but do you know if CS would consider removing an X from the ancient times Faydark->Befallen merge?

I'm looking forward to meeting all of our new servermates and I hope everyone is nice and friendly. Grumpy folks put such a damper on dungeon looting..

I'm interested to see how the broker prices will change (Befallen to Oasis). Most of my money is made from adornment sales and over the past few months, the price per adornment is almost cut in half. It's expected as more and more adorners come online along with more and more people either not requiring them or finding adorner friends to make their stuff.

I'm glad I was there at the boom all ready to rock! I'm hoping the prices won't drop even further... although I think I'm living in a pipe dream if I think the prices won't go lower than they already are.

Guess we'll see in a few hours.

Yup, in a lot of cases you will see the bottom fall out of the broker....at least for a bit till the market stabilizes

Oh, they are. I'm just hoping that I don't get more x's..lol. I was asking about a character who got an x back when the Faydark server merged with the Befallen server. The character who got to keep Dillon looks to be no longer played and has only 1 Days 5 Hours 49 Minutes played versus Dillonx (my character) who has 11 Days 2 Hours 16 Minutes played. The other Dillon was created June 11, 2005 versus mine which was created August 6, 2005. They were on Befallen and I was on Faydark and I got x'd. So, long story, kinda short...I'm hoping that since this person doesn't seem to play anymore and I don't think there's another Dillon on Oasis, I can get that dang x removed and reclaim my name. SMILEY

There was no reason to do so. You will have to set your sales crates again if you use them in your house is the only thing I have heard of.

The funny part is I'm actually trying to think of the SQL programming to do this and I know a couple ways but I think the question is whether or not that account is still active. If it is, then I doubt it. Also, Since they are using scripts, this would be related to the Befallen/Oasis names and nothing before, as that has been removed, just like befallen will be removed when this is complete. This would have to be a custom thing you would probably need to petition for.. This is my best guess.

Whats really funny is I have 2 webmail servers that I'm replacing tonight.. and noone will even notice I did them. Only thing they will see as a change is a vacation option under settings. So I know what they guys go thru. Over the last year I've migrated 2 email systems and 2 web hosting systems. These guy are kicking butt. I need to wait to wait till I get home to I have all my info.. hehe. You should move to Tucson... Warmer..

*grins* If it weren't for two kids and their father refusing to let me take them out of state, I'd be down there already. I know what you mean about server merges. My ex is a network admin and my fiance works in IT and has been up to his eyebrows in Active Directory stuff and various merges. I'm so impressed with how smoothly this seems to be going so far.

Oh and about your tag line, imo soloing and being successful takes way more ability with only your abilities to rely on...no saving from fellow player. My questing experience here is there is little 'talent' or thought needed to win the mob. But that is limited to group quests, I have not raided yet.

I was on the Befallen server if that matters. TIA You didn't need to move anything, some people are doing it "just in case". If you have characters on both servers that are being merged, and both characters have items in the shared bank, one of the banks will have it's contents put in your overflow. This is because we can't merge the two shared banks into one bank due to slot conflicts. So if you log in and find stuff in your overflow, thats most likely the cause. Everything else should merge fine. Update: We're ahead of schedule on the merges today. Chat should be back up any minute now and the servers are being QA'd as we speak. Hopefully if there are no QA issues we will have the servers unlocked in an hour or two. Woot you rock!!! Thanks for the update.

Most of my money is made from adornment sales and over the past few months, the price per adornment is almost cut in half. It's expected as more and more adorners come online along with more and more people either not requiring them or finding adorner friends to make their stuff. I'm glad I was there at the boom all ready to rock! I'm hoping the prices won't drop even further... although I think I'm living in a pipe dream if I think the prices won't go lower than they already are. Guess we'll see in a few hours.

I was asking about a character who got an x back when the Faydark server merged with the Befallen server. The character who got to keep Dillon looks to be no longer played and has only 1 Days 5 Hours 49 Minutes played versus Dillonx (my character) who has 11 Days 2 Hours 16 Minutes played. The other Dillon was created June 11, 2005 versus mine which was created August 6, 2005. They were on Befallen and I was on Faydark and I got x'd. So, long story, kinda short...I'm hoping that since this person doesn't seem to play anymore and I don't think there's another Dillon on Oasis, I can get that dang x removed and reclaim my name.

The funny part is I'm actually trying to think of the SQL programming to do this and I know a couple ways but I think the question is whether or not that account is still active. If it is, then I doubt it. Also, Since they are using scripts, this would be related to the Befallen/Oasis names and nothing before, as that has been removed, just like befallen will be removed when this is complete. This would have to be a custom thing you would probably need to petition for.. This is my best guess. /em starts digging for a Befallen shrine on oasis... and a Faydark shrine next to it....

Only thing they will see as a change is a vacation option under settings. So I know what they guys go thru. Over the last year I've migrated 2 email systems and 2 web hosting systems. These guy are kicking butt. I need to wait to wait till I get home to I have all my info.. hehe. You should move to Tucson... I know what you mean about server merges. My ex is a network admin and my fiance works in IT and has been up to his eyebrows in Active Directory stuff and various merges. I'm so impressed with how smoothly this seems to be going so far.
