FYI GUN the pics that you posted aren't comparing the same thing. If you search for the quest shown on Alla it will display the same way that your OGaming pic shows. Just though you should know.

Let's keep this thread on topic and not make it a Q&A for another fansite, okay?

I just wanted to make some official updates to the status with this merger. We've received quite a few emails from upset users specifically about user comments. We pulled an all nighter and came up with a way to import all of the comments from EQ2 OGaming to EQ2 Allakhazam. Basically this means that the user comments you have come to enjoy are back and associated with the correct quests at EQ2 Allakhazam. Also, as I've mentioned before our advertising has been halted until we can come up with a less intrusive way to do so.This brings me to something that I think you all need to hear. EQ2 Allakhazam is not under any type of premium service at the moment. Everything currently available at EQ2 Allakhazam will NEVER fall under premium. Because of that, this website and all of its resources is currently 100% free. Better yet, you don't even need an account to access the information. We're staying true to our OGaming roots and we hope you give us a chance to prove that.

EQ2i.com is like Wikipedia. Anyone can edit it, edits appear instantly, cooperative community. SMILEYAs far as Allakhazam goes... I was a paid subscriber when I played EQ1 for years. then I moved to EQ2 and waited, and waited, and Alla did nothing, so I unsubscribed. Now, since they have been 2 years NOT supporting us, they bought the site we have loved and used all this time, and...well, I am not gonna get into what I think of what they have done to it. I just went over there and looked. Heck, Greater Faydark is not even listed in the Zones list!!! Looks like biz as usual over at Alla...

Yes it is. At the top of the Zone list page select EoF and it will take you to all of the zones for that expansion. You can do the same with quests. On the Quests by Zone page select EoF and it will list all of the zones, which you can then click on to get a list of all of the quests in that particular zone.

As for ads.    No gold selling.     I think if you knew the amount of work the admins on Allakhazam have done to nuke, ban and burninate RMT spammers you would feel like a goof for even mentioning that.    If you ever get the chance just ask Danalog why the entirety of Russia is IP banned.
But isn't IGE and Zam owned by the same corporation?Besides, taking away ads at THIS time to bring them back later "less intrusively"... does that mean they are pledging to BAN all popup ads? Does that include "shoot the monkey" ads and ads that pretend to be a system message?

Not a fan of the merger, but some of the things on Alla are done nicely.  Much more fleshed out spell listings that I started and never got to finish from EQ2 Vault for one.

The person mentioned faydark and you keep talking about KoS. Is there a disconnect there or you just trying to make a point? I know Faydark is listed but why bother mentioning a totally different expansion to look for teh zone he is talking about.

I think its terrible that one of the biggest gold selling companies on the internet get to advertise on the EQ2 forums like this, by way of their "help site", and that the admins even encourage people to go there.

Gold selling, gold spamming tells & mails, gold advertising ruins this game for so many people, and allowing them to come here and advertise their site is akin to inviting the guy who shot your dog over for dinner to meet the family.

It would be much better if EQ2Players was developed further to include quest lists, comments, maps etc, so people didnt need to go these sites and feed their untoward operations.

But how can they feed their families if they don't irritate us and try to sell us gold? Think of their coke addiction and cheating wives. They'll have to go back to tying ATMs to their Hyundai's bumper.

I enjoyed Alla's for EQ1 but don't like it for EQ2.

I use eq2i.com and eq2.gamepressure.com mainly.

Wondering if Alla has plans to add trees for Achievments and things like that?

Also hoping we can have some updated guides on things like basic combat mechanics / stats written up, because as we know this information has changed so much.

Edit  - I decided I have been unduly rash in the voicing of my opinion of the new site. There are some very frustrating problems yes, take for example - bestiary by zone..use the quick links on the left to find the butcherblock bestiary - right now it can't be accessed that way. YES you can get to it if you instead go to zones by expansion, find butcherblock, then choose mobs, but that is not the same thing as the quick link function on the side of the page. You know how long it took me to run across that problem? My second meaningful attempt to use the site...but yes there are parts of it that are good enough that I would rather access them there in one place than bounce around to several others to find what I am searching for.I loved allah's back in the day, I was a die hard fan, it was the most fully functional reference site I had ever seen for a game in early and mid eq1... - but it has been utter crap for eq2 prior to now, and ogaming was good so many of us are going to be very hard to please - especially when it is easy to find these flawsYou shouldnt have launched this until it was able to stand on its own two feet and be something to be proud of - and if you think its at that point right now, that just further illustrates WHY so many people have moved away from allahs over the last several years. Maybe it will get there. Right now it is functional, but it is not shining. Strenghten and deepen the cross reference functions and you will be on the right track.

Ogaming , WHAT have you done, you ruined a perfect site , the only site i ever used to look up stuff. I went to the alakazam w/e crap site, its horable , not set up the same, totally diffrent search system , that is off the wall that are irrelevent. Basicly , you turned a good site into a bad one. I dont know if you were bought out. I hope the new people or w/e can make the site a little better, it needs a lot of work.

/sigh as good as eq2i.com is, the fact it seems to be down half the time i try and access it is rather annoying.

i think it will take some getting used to with this new Zam website.  I liked the crisp, clear layout of the old ogaming site, and Zam just doesnt seem as good.

I used Alla back in EQ1. It was my bible. I even paid for the premium service =P For EQ2, I found it lacking and instead placed my faith in O-gaming and stopped paying for my info. I personally LIKE the merger. Though I do miss the Ogaming easy on the eyes color scheme.... I find that Alla2 loads faster for me, and works just as well as ogaming did. Well done guys!

I want to compliment the Allakhazam and Ogamin crew for their obvious willingness to listen to their users! They disabled pop-ups (thank god - dont use those please!!), transferred user comments, and more! When it comes to that eq2i.com site, you cant compare it to either ogaming or allakhazam. They both blow eq2i.com out of the water for volume alone. I'd wish Allakhazam would rethink their layout. Either copy ogamin.com, or do something different, but do it STYLISH please SMILEY And of course functional!

This is definitely a big step backwards.

During the eq1 days Allakhazam developed as THE resource.. it was (one of) the most functional and most updates info sites.

Then something happened. Allakhazam got greedy and expanded to cover more games, get more hits and make more money. What disappered in this process was the loving care that was put into the creation of the site, and that care and focus put into it was what made it one of the best for eq1. You cannot excel at making such sites without having a really dedicated and focused team. When business came in, focus and dedication waned(it became a job) and site quality dropped. The eq2 Allakhazam never got enough focus and love to be worth visiting.

Ogaming was created like eq1 by a very dedicated, loving and focused team doing it for fun and enjoyment. They obviously have lost control now(but are a lot richer..), so expect the service quality we had from Ogaming to go away.

This in addition to the fact that Allakhazam in several areas provide a worse service than Ogaming, and their interface is nowhere as good.

Alternatives: Eq2boards quest board(which in some cases have the best info anyways, although unstructured), eq2i

I used to use Allakhazam's alot back in EQ, they always had info on every quest known to the game...even the new ones...I knew with in a few days I could look up new quest info, but now........... for EQ2 they are behind....that is where Ogaming came in. For EQ2 stuff they were the tops. I knew that if I was stuck they would have the info I was looking for on any quest I came across. Now after this merge, I find Allakhazam still lacking, either they have not imported all the quest info that Ogaming had collected yet,  or for some reason will not use it.I find Allakahazam still a barren site for info...and miss Ogaming dearly!!!I also find the layout for looking quests up at Allakahazam's very chunky!  I liked how Ogaming had theirs listed, it took me only seconds to find what I was looking for.Ogaming you will be missed!!

I am a big fan/user of Ogaming site in the past.   I work for the Government and at times I used Ogaming site at my office to do some research and just data search.  Well, the newer standards for Gov't computers it blocked the Ogaming site from viewing.  But the Allakhazam site is still accessable through Gov't puters.  So, this is a big plus.

Enjoy

When EQ2 came out and advertised that they were going to offer informational resources via the Player's Site for a fee I was so excited.  I was hopeful that perhaps, finally SOE would build a community site that allowed players to document / archive that kind of information.  Or heaven forbid provide the information themselves - already configured and just "unlock" it as players discovered it (quests, items, and lore) in the world.  Players who wanted spoiler information could go and read it, players who didn't could ignore it.  I was looking forward to a really rich gaming experience online and offline - where I could read through Lore, Quest dialog, Item/Char Stats, and Game Information.  Then EQ2 Player's Site launched and I realized very quickly that it wasn't going to be that way at all.  Is the Player's Site nice, sure - but it's not at all what I was really hoping for.

The OGaming site was well organized, easy to navigate, and an absolutely priceless resource.  I would have happily paid to use it.  I played EQ1 for years and years - at the time Allakhazam was the only similar resource.  Since I had nothing to compare it to it was as good as it got.  I found OGaming, and it only took me one week after EQ2 launched to realize I was never going back to Allakhazam again.  Web technology had improved since Allakhazam was king during EQ1 - and the OGaming site capitalized on it with better design and features.

Will I use Allakhazam?  Yes, just like everyone else will.  Why?  Because there's nothing else out there that offers the information.  But like others in this thread, I wanted to take my two seconds and whine about how very much I'll miss OGaming's EQ2 site.  Why oh why didn't they just put Allakhazam information into OGaming - why did they have to do it the other way around?  SMILEY

O Gaming was great but I just spent some time checking out ZAM and it's not so bad it actually has a little O gasming feel to it. The fact that the O gaming staff is still in charge should be a big uplift. I think that in the coming months we will see some good things and some great new ideas I cant wait.

Very sad indeed.   Ogaming was reliable and had good information you could use.   Doesn't even look like alla took their content, its just the same old crap they had but with a different background ...... very disapointing......

Really? As far as I can tell the content is the same. They ported over all of the general information as well as user comments. What's missing?

Allow me to interject for a moment to answer that. The truth is that EQ2 Allakhazam now has more information then EQ2 OGaming ever did. I’ve noticed that a lot of you are upset because something you were used to changed. I can understand your frustration but as with all things in life, change can be good.

Yep I spent of bunch of time on there yesterday, did some HQ's with the guild. It's just as good as O gaming ever was, you just spend sometime with new search functions and you'll be just fine.
