only thing that makes me nervous is how small the patch was. have we been downloading parts of it for months now? Or was it really like 200 megs?

Isn't an asset something of Monitary worth.

Does that mean they are missing a Staion cash item?

You would think this is a new game by the way the servers are not up yet...

I can wait but I really don't understand why they just didnt give the launch more breathing room. Say you think it'll be done at 6am, for arguments sake. Actually schedual launch 2-3 maybe 4 hours after. Just in case something goes wrong like it did today. It'd be more fair and professional, really. It's ok that problems happen and can be unexpected but planning ahead and being precautionary with launch times is really important, I think. I had a feeling this would happen, a lot of the time the estimated times they throw out for servers to come up are wrong. No reason not to give it an extra hour or so, that way people arent waiting and then dissapointed.

LOL new to the game much? SOE has never done anything they say when they say they were gonna do it... You can count on one thing with SOE, them being late and inaccurate with their "estimates"...

SOE offices are looking like ESPN's Y2K commercial right about now.

If you were Sony and you knew that the number of players logging on at the same instant was sure to crash you servers what would you do to prevent it? You would probably queu up the logins. What scheme would you use to sequence the logins? What would you tell the players that ended up queued for a long time?

They've been patching in content for months - prior to Velious even officially being announced.

The horror.....

If they gave estimates past the time the servers would actually be up people would complain they were always up early.

I made myself laugh.

Reminds me of this exchange from ST:TNG Relics

"I told the Captain I would have this diagnostic done in an hour." "And how long will it really take you?" "An hour!" "Oh, you didn't tell him how long it would really take, did you?" "Of course I did." "Oh, laddie, you have a lot to learn if you want people to think of you as a miracle worker."

Oh im not saying they should be up early. Even if they finished early it should be launched at the correct time posted.

I know a surefire way to get the servers to come up.

All I have to do is leave the house to go run an errand for an hour.

Haha - I can imagine all the complaining you would hear because people missed out on lots of discos if they came up after 3 hours instead of the projected 6...
