I went all weekend without getting the application error while switching alts with voice chat disabled while switching...

i guess i should now really turn it back on and see if i start getting the error again while zoning... but it's so nice not having to restart the game everytime, but in the best interest of the game, we need to know if it's something with the voice chat while switching characters.....

so, voice chat is enabled now and i wont turn it off before switching and see what happens...

Roger. Please let us know the result!

well, that didn't take long... first alt switch, no problem... second alt switch, it started loading zone resources. while zone resources are loading the EQ2VoiceService.exe file loads (it showed up in the Processes tab of Task Manager), the loading zone resources bar hung at 24% (just a bit after the EQ2VoiceService.exe started) and about 30 secs to a minute later, with no movement on the bar, up comes the EQ2 Client Application error window.

I think that is already enough to show it has something to do with the EQ2VoiceService.exe when it is loading up or trying to connect. Maybe it's trying to connect too early or something before other things it needs are loaded? All I know, is I'm going back to disabling it everytime before i switch (or at least remember to switch it off), which is annoying...

Please pass this on to the folks that deal with this.. thanks...

please don't recommend folks delete their ini files for this issue anymore (or their cache or the game exe), just recommend they disable voice chat before they /camp or camp to character select to select a new toon and then re-enable it after the character loads into the game, until the issue is fixed.

This is still happening even after the latest hotfixes =(  I turned voicechat back on hopeing it was one of the things fixed as they did mention some sort of fix for voicechat, but after going to /camp to another toon it crashed again.  Turned it back off and haven't crashed again since, it's definitly voicechat causing the crashes, and it works fine using it while i'm actually playing, its just /camp that seems to cause it to crash.  Hope it gets fixed soon =/

I leave my voice chat off.  Its not enabled.  (not sure if the .exe is still loading or not)

However.  This seems to happen to me more, when Ive been surfing the web or checking my mail when the game is in a window..

If I leave the game fullscreen and camp around between toons, doesnt seem to happen nearly as often.  Like maybe once since this started happening.

I made backups of my .ini files.  Deleted them and tried again.  Same result.

So whats going on?  Can I delete the voice chat server .exe to get this to stop happening as mentioned?  Is that really the problem here?

We are looking into a fix for this issue, but so far currently we have not been able to reproduce it.  Does anyone know of a way to get this to happen 100% of the time?

This may becompletly coincidental but I was crashing almost everytime i did /camp character but after disabling Voice Chat all together I hadnt crashed even one time until the night that I turned it back on and then as soon as I camped to another character I crashed.

This may becompletly coincidental but I was crashing almost everytime i did /camp character but after disabling Voice Chat all together I hadnt crashed even one time until the night that I turned it back on and then as soon as I camped to another character I crashed.

I doubt that it's coincedental - same thing happens for me. I can /camp fine with chat disabled (so far anyway) but crashes occur when I /camp with it enabled. Oddly, though, it seems to happen only when I switch to my templar. I can /camp from my templar to another toon but not from one of my other toons to my templar. I need to do some more experimenting, though.

When this happens to me, if you watch the vc window, there is a Voice Chat connect error that flashes in red right before you crash out.

I never have voice chat running and have been getting this crash every night with exactly what everyone else has been saying.  The only way I do not get the crash when capming to a different character is waiting approximately 2 minutes before logging the other character on.

We think we have this issue resolved and will be pushing the update to the Test server as soon as possible.

Dont suppose we can get an ETA on when this will hit live servers?

Even turning off Voice Chat doesnt garuntee the crash won't occur.

Since July 8, anytime I camp from one character to another, on the same account, by using the command line parameters, without exiting the client completely, I get an application error.

I have the same problem, when do the hotfix go live? It's a big annoying.

ETA please. This crash is getting really really old now, in more ways than one.

Ok it's been 2 weeks since you posted that you 'think' you have a fix and will be testing it. Meanwhile, crashing/zoning/transaction lag problems have continued to get worse every day. WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO FIX THIS? Don't give us platitudes or guesses. Don't patronize us. We're not idiots. Be honest for once and tell us exactly what the problem is and when it's going to be resolved.

Yes I am also experiencing this problem: after almost everytime i camp to char select then load up another character, the game crashes after clicking Play. Now the crash is making both instances of the game crash at the same time when i am boxing. Doesnt matter what Im doing on the other account even.

I really hope a fix is in the works

I wanted to mention that I have since completely disabled EQ2's voice chat and I havent crashed apon changing characters once.

Hope that can help the devs point to what the problem is.

still getting this error.. i forgot to disable my voice chat after a group last night. loaded up the game today, clicked play, got to the point where I've posted numerous times in this same post, bam, app error...

Can we get an update on the status of this fix? It was posted on 8/5 that there might be a fix to test soon... it's now been over 2 weeks....

Thanks...

Also still get this error, on XP - both desktop and laptop. Does not seem to matter if voice is enabled or disabled. Also looking for ETA of test fix if possible, thanks. =)

Azyla, your problem sounds different then the one being discussed here. I know I nor anyone in my guild after telling them about disabling voice in the options has gotten the error while it's been disabled. Are you sure you are disabling it and not just closing it or leaving the channels? Are you sure it's the same error?

My friend is also having problems with the voice service .exe except instead of crashing the game the service will crash, and then restart and sometimes work fine and others it will crash 15-20 minutes later. it doesnt effect game play but is annoying because it brings focuse to the error making the game go to windowed mode.

Same here, and it feels like it's getting worse every day. Today I crashed 4 or 5 times while doing a "/camp charname", while it didn't crash only on one occasion. Incredibly annoying.
