Thank you for asking us our opinions, Domino.

I have never found the tradeskill music to be annoying, but rather helpful in setting up a rythm for button clicking.

Although, the ideas thrown around are very interesting. Dynamic music that reacts to our tradeskills is a good idea, but I wonder if the lag between music and game might be somewhat similar to fighting music, where things can be a tad "off"?

I craft everything in the same instance, so correct me if I am wrong, but I do think the instances have the same "tradeskill" music? What if you put in different music for different instances instead? So in the  Baubleshire instance, have some "Dwarven" music, in the Castleview instance, have some "High Elf" music, etc. I do realize that there are different races from each starting city, but they are conglomerated together and can have a rotating theme music. With our recall point being so easily changed, we could park ourselves in front of our favorite instance (since they do have similar layouts, anyway) and go into the one with our favorite music.

I gather that we can also simplify this by letting us set the music through our options screen. To have the options of: Soft Theme; Muzak Theme; Hectic Theme; Action Theme and so forth, we could set out tradeskill instance to that theme. When we get tired of this, music change is only a button click away. SMILEY

 Thanks for your time,

Kat : )

The crafting instance musics make me want to pull my hair out. I think something similar to the change you guys made with the Character creation screen would be great. I can listen to that practically all day. Well, not all day. Classical music would DEFINATELY be something I would find to be more enjoyable for crafting.

I'd like to hear the theme from Jeopardy start up when durability goes to 50% in the pristine bar.

I wonder if adding a cooldown on mastercraft would not be a nice way to give value to craftman skills.Currently a mid level or beginner craftman bring nothing to a worldsince finding a rank 7 or 8 craftman willing to spend a few minutes crafting for you is easy. From this it follows that the value of master crafts is simply the value of the material minus some percentage , since making an item lock the rare and also prevents its usage for a first pritine. Fixing the duration of the cooldown is probably uneasy but a starting value whise order would be a day is probably a reasonnable value. The goal is to give to the skill itself a value, doing it by makin crafting master item long is not a reasonnable choice but a cooldown is perfectly possible. Now, if the cooldown is too long this would lead to abuse from the crafters if it is too short it won;t change anything. If the value is approximately good things will stabilize : people will make crafters as long as the offer is too low..Now in order to avoid making items one by one a crafter may have a sliding window of as example 7 items a week that he may decide to do in a single session. Obvioulsy this measure only apply to mastercraft and the provisionner profession would be unaffected.

This is essentially a double post (from the "Broken economy" thread, does not apply to crafting music at all, and is perhaps the most horrible idea I have heard in a long time (at least, what I can understand of it!).  (See my response in the other thread, if you care).

Since Domino asked us to put suggestion there i did it. I read all the answer to my post, most were stupid or missunderstanding my proposal.

my .02, i like something that changes from time to time so it isn't too repititious or boring. With that said one of my favorite pen and paper (pnp ad&d) composers was rick wakeman *mentioned elsewhere in this thread*(great ambience music). His style of music is constantly taking you from one emotion to another as you experience his journeys" like "journey to the center of the earth", and "the legend of king arthur and the knights of the round table". Both of these older albums are some of his best imo.Something melodic, not to trancy, with the toilet flush on fail of course....

Provisioners should be subjected to the Swedeish Chef theme from the muppet show on continuous loop. SMILEY

I wouldn't mind hearing some celtic style folk music (cheiftains for example)while crafting.  I would rather hear classical period instruments used there pre-baroque if possible. Ren-Faire sytle music makes me want to cry if I hear to much of it.

You might also what to consider different music based on the tradeskillers base of operation. Willwood - Elvish style music, etc.

 There's my 2cp

Have a good one and Safe Travels!

The crafting station music ... and the march theme from SS

are the two songs in EQ i dont seem to get tired of .....

Crafting music shoul dbe like chamber music... a pleasant background score, that doesnt require you to listen .. but is just a pleasant  sound in the background ...when you are chatting .. or crafting...

A heavy music score .. would end up being muted i think .. as crafting is not a Exciting activity per se

but a activity most of us do while doing other things... at least i do

a crafting theme i think should resemble the current one...

be up beat happy .. be on  a long enough loop that crafting for 20 min wont result in hating the music due to repititoiin

i like the current one because it seems to have 3 variations on a music theme ..and it works...

There has not been an update in some time.

What if each tradskill instance had a tradeskill band? - Seriously....A group of 5 NPCs that you pay 5 gold (or whatever) and then you get to select from a list of 10 songs - and only that player hears that selection. Sort of like a crafting juke-box only everyone has personal earphones. Everyone in the instance can hear something different (for a modest NPC band fee)

I really don't even mind the standard crafting music.

I think this is a pretty great idea if you want to use music from other zones or even introduce new music.

As for normal crafting music, making music specific to the instance would be pretty cool, but what I think would really make it shine is if an instance's music changed based on either how many are working at a time, the current state of progress in the zone, or how far you are into the instance.

Perhaps each crafter is a 'line' in a song, and if you have multiple going at the same time it adds extra instruments, melodies, or countermelodies.  A nice bonus to people crafting in the same area.

If it's based on your progress with your current item, instead, you could make it a simple repeating loop of, say, 10 to 16 measures (each tick being two measures), with each reaction art being a 4th of the song (the primary component never stopping).  If you successfully counter an event, it might give a special segment for the next measure.  That way if someone's not paying attention or failing, the music starts to get sloppy, but if they're just cruising along they get a full melody.  A really fancy setup would even have a different 'movement' for each section, so at the end if played through from start to finish you get a full song.

Finally, playing music for the instance would be a good way to break up, in a way, the monotony of doing tradeskill instances.  Songs could be much longer for this, and don't need to be able to 'reverse' like the other ones.

Since the advent of guild halls, I've only been into the workshops about once a month (when Guild Recall wasn't up and I needed to look at the broker) and they've been completely empty every time, even ones like Willow Wood that used to be jam packed, so I think making assorted music for different areas would be a waste of time. If there's going to be more noise for crafting in guild houses, that's fine as long as there's an Off option somewhere.

I wish Sir Whurar Darcal would SCRAM from the Woodworking table in Firemyst Gully. I'm trying to use the Woodworking table here (which is not my primary class) and I keep getting thrown off hearing the sound of HIM using the table when I'm trying to listen to myself use the table. Please make him get his own bloody table. Thanks!

I'm guessing this  got put on the backburner because crafting stations are more readily available outside the crafting basements.  Or is this still possibly being looked at?  I think it would be something I would enjoy, but I think I might eventually just turn it off.  I have turned off the adaptive combat music because if I am grinding writs and killing the same mobs over and over, the music isn't really as adaptive or exciting as fighting a raid mob might be.

This is indeed alas on the backburner at present.  Definitely something we would still like to do, but not currently scheduled.
