really wish the admins would quit ignoring this thread. i've tried downloading and reinstalling with the launcher, rebooting, etc.. all with the same result. either go streaming or download 14gb all over again. missing a guild raid night now because of this. not a big deal to some but sucks for those of us in raid guilds and sucks for he guild when one of their healers or other priority classes is unable to get on.

Can we get this or get some kind of freaking response? Been like this for a few days, and it's INFURIATING. I DON'T WANT THE STREAMING CLIENT. STOP TRYING TO SHOVE IT DOWN MY THROAT.

I just want to play without ridiculous load times or without it trying to download the whole freaking game again FOR NO REASON WHATSOEVER

personally i think they need someone new on the coding team that knows more about what they are doing because the patcher has been a big problem ever since its inception

/sigh.  After waiting 2 hrs for it to d/l 14Gb, it finally finishes. I hit 'Play' .... that same error pops up again. :-[  I am NOT going to sit here and wait another 2 hrs for it to do the same freakin' thing over again. Come'on SOE, what's the issue here?

It switched to streaming for me too.  I never saw the message from the first post though...it just started downloading 14 gigs worth of new assets.  I reinstalled the launcher from here.  I chose the Reinstall option, pointed it at my install location, and came out the other side back with my trusty full launcher and no more downloading.

If you look in your EQ2 folder, you should have a folder called "Paks" that's something like 12-15 gigs.  Do you?

if you paks folder has been replaced with a 23.1mb folder one it has converted you to streaming which is what it has done for me on my SSD drive so i am downloading everything onto older drive so i can copy everything over once the issue is fixed .

Ick...hopefully you just had a different install location before.  Otherwise you're downloading again.  Did you ever have any of the older launchers, or did you just start playing recently?

Well no responce yet, but from reading this board it looks like files are being deleted from the paks folder.

I only had 16 files in there, I managed to find a backup drive that had the game on it and copied over the pak, hopefully that will work.

How many of you patched your Adobe Flash Player in the last couple of days?

Thats not it, it prompts to install on a reinstall/repair every time you run it.

Well copying the paks folder didnt work, however when I tried installing the new launcher It brought the download size down to only 4gigs, so there might have been more files deleted that I did not know about

Here is the Launchpad link

That's about what's left outside of the Paks folder (the actual game assets).  My folder here is 15.6 total, with 12.0 of it in the Paks.  I'm not sure, but it really sounds like you used to have a different install folder before.  I've seen the default install be in several different places in my time playing.  You'd have to set the OS to show hidden and system files if you don't have it that way already, then do a search for EverQuest2 or Paks maybe to see if you have a different EQ2 install with all the goods in it.

If you use Profit or EQ2Maps, those should be pointed at your old folder (if there is one)...maybe check their files paths and make sure it's still the same place?

The two locations I have seen in the past few years (I use Windows 7) are;

current AoD patcher default (afaik)

C:UsersPublicSony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverQuest II

and this one was where I had the game before the AoD patcher

D:ProgramDataSony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverQuest II

^(had it from my old windows install, actually hooked up the hard drive to transfer the files when I reinstalled lol never got around to taking it out again but I digress...)

I currently have been lucky and have yet to have the issue. (/crossfingers)

IDK could the patcher just delete like 15gb of info like that?  I would check both of the dir's I posted and see if maybe the patcher defaulted into a different loaction and maybe since it detected that you have no files it started downloading.

Sorry if this info is useless but just thought I would give some info about the Dir's I have seen used by my patchers..

The computer I am having issues with has the eq2 folder in C:UsersPublicSony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverQuest II

the computer that I am not having issues with has the eq2 folder in C:ProgramDataSony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverQuest II

idk if the location has anything to do with it or not.

And my game was working fine from the time I logged in today around noon cst until about 5pm cst.  When I tried to load the game up again around that time, it was suddenly streaming...

Well yeah something changed for sure.  I was only talking about the install locations for the people who tried to repair the install and appeared to have ended up downloading the entire EQ2 folder again.  As far as I can tell, the launcher shouldn't nuke the whole folder.  It should only be updating and replacing files as necessary...not deleting things.   So, if all of a sudden you're downloading around 16 gigs, I think it's a possibility it's no longer pointed where it was earlier.

Anyone get it working correctly yet?

And can we have an ""offical"" response to this issue?

It didnt do a full install. sounds too easy I know but it worked on hers I got mine working now as well just copied her pak files over to my pc and put them in the folder. You have the option once started to do new install or repair.  I went with repair on hers and it worked. the installer is here http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=509747

This happened to me once before and it happened again today. The ini file should look like this.

[Settings]digestURL=http://manifest.patch.station.sony.com/patch/sha/manifest/launchpad/lp4/live/lp-eq2-full.sha.soeappName=EverQuest IIappIcon=EQII.icoid=eq2width=915height=618options =tcg:1,full:1

The last time ini file was changed it was full:0 I belive and it was trying to stream. Today it looked like this.

[Settings]digestURL=http://manifest.patch.station.sony.com/patch/sha/manifest/launchpad/lp4-live/live/lp-eq2-ext.sha.soeappName=EverQuest IIappIcon=EQII.icoid=eq2width=917height=638[Logging]Address= lvs-gt-els01.station.sony.com:20060[CrashReporter]Address=recap2.freerealms.net

After the last time I have backed up my files so the only thing I diid was deleted todays ini file and replaced it with original one and it worked. This is my first post so forgive me if formatting or anything is wrong. I hope this helps.

managed to fix my issue with this by reinstalling the launcher (full assets) from the ticky and then copying all 12gigs of the paks folder back from a backup I have.

If you don't have a backup you are out of luck as the PoS launcher will have deleted your paks folder contents.

SoE support and soe coders have to be the biggest bunch of fuckwits in the industry.  Maybe they should code a game in basic, something akin to what they are.
