This is not an isolated problem, it's happening to everyone on my server for the last few days. I haven't asked around others but I'd guess it's WW. Sometimes one can be lucky enough to keep trying to join a VC channel 20 times and get yourself in then invite your friends but this morning I'm having no luck.

Same problem here. Entire raid can't join any voice channels at the moment. The message it gives is "You've left voice channel ''".

Too much to ask for a regular status update? This issue is driving my entire guild nuts. Guild chat works. Raid/group not so much.  We've raiding/grouped in guildchat before but since we are one of the largest guilds on the server....1 group is enough to agrivate the other 20+ members online....

Seriously dont want to have to move to vent. But its being talked about heavily.

Hate to say this, but either it started working for everyone today or

my updating the firmware drivers on my DI-604 router has solved my problems.

have you all checked if your version of router needs updating or if the problem exist when directly connected to your modems?

Sorry for not getting the info here right away.

The voice chat issues are undergoing a great deal of maintenance.  The third party company, Vivox, also restarted all of the services Sunday evening following some maintenance.  This may have resolved the issue for a great deal of players but there are still some existing quarks we are working out as we speak.

Well ir sure would be nice if SOE posted information regarding these issues, rather than having customers wondering [Removed for Content] was going on with voice chat. It appears that SOE doesn't even know there's a problem until customers inform them.

How about a little better communication in house with third party vendors?

When new issues arise, I don't see how we would know unless someone encountered it.  That's kind of the nature of a 'new' issue.

Theres no issue with the communication between the vendor and us.  But thanks for your concern! SMILEY

If there are no communications between SOE and this third party, I would then assume that SOE was notified of the server maintenance and the restarting of services. If that was the case, then it appears that the communication issues are between SOE and the customer base - as stated above... "Sorry for not getting the info here right away."

Some of these issues are reported by users and the somewhat canned response often times goes on the assumption that the problem lies on the user's end. i.e. update your drivers, update your router firmware, etc.

But thanks for your concern.

My  "Sorry for not getting the info here right away." was because I did not work weekends back then like I do today.  6/13 was a Monday and the maintenance I was referencing occurred on Sunday.

Have the same issue - takes me several times to successfully join a voice channel, and after a few minutes it will randomly kick me from the channel. I'm experiencing this since the launch of AoD.

Are you using our streaming or full asset patcher?  Are you multiboxing?

Full asset patcher and no, not multiboxing.

Per default, when I launch EQ2, VC will not be "up". So when I'm trying to join group or raid voice, I'm getting the info/confirmation pop up window once ("you are currently not connected" or something along that line), and I hit OK. Then I select a channel, joining the selected channel usually does not work on the first try.

It may be coincidence, but joining group voice or guild voice seems "easier" (works after 2-3 tries), while joining raid voice takes longer.

A failed attempt to join raid voice will result in being highlighted (yellow) in the chanel drop down menu, although it didn't properly connect me.

My procedure to (re-)connect: I keep switching between group, guild and raid voice till a succesful connect occurs OR disable and enable VC in options and then switch between channels. The result of this procedure is still very random and a successful connect sometimes happens sooner, sometimes later.

Thanks for all the info.  Tech Support may not be able to resolve ongoing issues with this directly but I have a good amount of info to send along to development.  I'll post updates as they come along or more steps if we get them.

Private voice channels - down

Group voice channels - down

Raid voice channels - down

All these voice channels are either non-existent or spotty.  The raid channel if it does pop up kicks you out for an invalid password.  If the raid leader is lucky enough to get in, then they must spend an hour or so spam inviting people into the raid voice.

Private voice channels are similar - spam invites until people can get in.

Group voice channels - no such luck on spam invites because it is down completely.

Even Guild voice channel is spotty at best on some of my alts.

Edited to add date this issue first started >>> 5/6/2012

The message recieved is 'can not find guk.channelname or eq2.guk.channelname.

This is actually pretty sad, for our guild, we have Mumble servers, with game servers etc loaded up. If something goes down, it's fixed within 15 minutes at the most. Soe are you really telling us you can't contact Vivox and get this fixed within 2 hours? let alone months? REally???

**Voice chat channel update**

Hello my friends! After numerous tests, we were not able to successfully reproduce this issue. We are going to need you guys to provide us more information as you can (ie custom UI use yes/no, system specs, zones etc.) so we can figure out a correlation between the systems experiencing this.

1. Who is your ISP ?

2. What is the make & model of your modem ? and router (if separate) ?

3. Type of connection (Wireless/Wired) ?

4. DSL, Cable or Fiber ?

5. What are your download and upload speeds (ping, dl, ul; can check this by going to http://speedtest.net/ ) ?

6. Using custom UI (yes/np) ?

7. Zones affected ?

A few bits of info that *might* help move this along.  This is for the issue that my guild and I have been having.  There may be other new issues as well but the specific one I'm talking about is with guild voice chat.

  1. There have been several ongoing voice chat issues but there is a new one that just cropped up a few days ago.  It is the new one that we need a resolution to and it is system wide and not tied to specific ISPs, modems, router, etc. (reasoning for this conclusion below).
  2. This new issue makes it so that channels that would normally be available don't show in the list until a certain amount of time goes by or a certain amount of re-logging takes place.
  3. Once someone makes it into guild chat, they can begin trying to invite others by using /voice invite characterName.
  4. Others invited through the "/voice invite characterName"  command end up in a channel by the name of the guild instead of it just being called "Guild" but contains all those people who are in by either method.
  5. When the "/voice invite characterName" is entered, sometimes it will say voice invite sent to characterName and sometimes it will say nothing.
  6. If you try several times, eventually, it will say voice invite sent to characterName and they will get the invite and be able to join guild chat
  7. Some time after that (sometimes a half an hour sometimes much longer) you will start seeing the other invites that didn't work show up on both the sender and the receiver side with the sender seeing voice invite sent to characterName and the receiver seeing the popup invite to join the chat channel even though they are still in the channel.

Because this is a /command that was sent a long time ago that is just now finally getting processed is why I don't believe it has anything to do with specific ISPs, modems, routers, etc.  It's a text command just like any other that goes from my client to the SOE server and then gets interpreted and handled from there, right?  The /voice invite command goes to SOE and tells it that I'd like to invite someone to a channel.  The server side then has to determine if I have the proper permissions to do the invite, and if I do, send the invite to the person and send back to my client the fact that the invite was sent.  Same as if I did /invite to invite someone to a group.  The server has to determine if I'm the group leader, if the person is already IN a group, etc. to decide what message to send back to my client.  Because the /voice invite command goes through long after the command was sent to the server makes me believe that the problem lies on the server side and not the client.

Is it possible that the /voice invite command is being routed strangely based on ISP, modem, router, etc?  If it were, it should be effecting other /commands as well and not just /voice invite, right?  I can't believe that /voice invite gets clogged up at the ISP, modem, router, etc. level, hangs out there for an hour, and then eventually makes it to the SOE servers which immediately process the command, issue the invite, and send back the notification of the invite.  Nor can I believe that everybody in my guild has had the same issue begin at the same time and all of it is at each of our individual ISP, modem, router, etc.  That just makes no sense.

So if someone could please print this out, put on their rump kicking boots, take a drive over to Vivox, and rectify this for us, that would be great.  SMILEY

This has been an ongoing systemic problem for weeks now. It is affecting the way we play the game and is incredibly frustrating.

It is happening with everyone in our guild at some level or another...seems to have to do with each toon getting the option or having rights to log into a channel on the voice server.

I am guild leader...I often don't have officer voice option....when I group, I often don't have group option, when I raid, I often don't have raid voice option. Some channels might auto add over time.

When I or someone else gets a voice channel, we have whoever gets the invite to voice channel option on their scroll down (this too is intermittent) and try to get all the group in voice.

Voice invites are intermittent...only get confirmation that invite has been sent once in a while...so I might send 6 invites before one is accepted...and then that player gets invites from me to join the channel every once in a while for the rest of the nite.

It's frustrating to have something as basic as voice borked for so long....knowing that SOE is working on something as frivolous as tying the game into a web cam so our toon smiles when we do.

I have played pretty much since launch and love the game but this is a real problem that seems to be hanging on WAY TOO LONG.

Thanks,

Arrog
