![]() Here let me make it easy for you, because its obvious you only look at damage, your NOT considering casting time, recast time, power consumption, etc. This is from a level 60 wizard with roughly 403 int. Sunstrike Master 1 power: 105 casting time: 2 secs recast 3 secs (so 5 secs total to between Sunstrike casts) Damage: 714-1326
Ball of Incineration Master 2 power: 238 casting time : 3 secs recast 9 secs (so 12 secs total between BoI casts) Damage: 2692
Ice Comet Master 1 Power: 327 casting time: 4 seconds recast time: 45 seconds (so 49 seconds between ice comet casts) Damage: 3127-5807
Ok so lets compare Sunstrike Master 1 to Ball of Incineration master 2 Ball of Incineration can do a max damage of 2692 every 12 seconds using 238 power. Sunstrike Master 1 can do a max damage of 1326 every 5 seconds using 100 power. So actually in 10 seconds you could cast Sunstrike twice, doing a max damage of 2652 damage and using less power. then Ball of Incineration. What does that mean? I can do roughly the exact same damage in 10 seconds using sunstrike that i could in 12 seconds of Ball of Incineration. I would save 2 seconds by using Sunstrike, i would save 38 power, and i would only lose out on a max damage difference of 40 points of damage. Now does it make sense that Sunstrike IS a good spell?????
Ok Now Ice Comet Master 1 vs. Sunstrike Master 1 In 49 seconds Ice comet master 1 can do a max damage of 5807 using 327 power In 50 seconds Sunstrike master 1 can do a max damage of 13,260 (1326 max damage X 10 casts (5 seconds total per cast with Sunstrike) using a total of 1050 power. So using Sunstrike instead of Ice Comet over a 50 second duration would give you well over 2x's the damage of ice comet, the downfall is you would use alot of power(great if you need to burn a mob down fast and dont have to worry about conserving power). So to clarify, Sunstrike is one of our best spells whether you will believe that or not. Message Edited by OneBadAlien on 10-11-2005 04:56 PM |

Something to also consider when comparing Ice Comet to Sunstrike is the number of chances to break a root. Sunstrike = 10 chances to break root vs Ice Comet = 1 chance to break root over the same 50 second time period.

So comparing dps, in a solo environment casting only certain spells at certain times = low dps, but dead named mob. Im referring to dps in a raid/group environment. It is one of, if not the, best pure dps spell we have, not good to spam 10x's in a row when soloing a named using roots, but when your in a raid or in a group this spell is ownage. When something like this happen, the only thing you can ask is WHY ?- Was it done by a WOW infiltrator who sneekily replaced Ad1 with Master 1- Did the programmer not know the difference between Ad1 and Master 1- Does SoE hate customers- Was it a practical joke ?

![]() I don't understand why chnage it at all? Sony you just continue to do things to people that shows what little to no consideration you have for your customers. This is just typical Sony. Some people get in while it's good and everyone else is left in the cold.

There is a rather large thread on this issue in the quests forumn, currently 19 pages I believe. Moorguard responded to this issue there on page 1. Just an FYI in case you want to look up the official response.
