No, do not betray.  Do this: Neriak to Freeport
  1. Mandatory Service - from Clerk Brutus in East Freeport at ( -79, -37, -4 ).

continue with {Sergeant Daimyo in East Freeport at ( -126, -38, 0 ).

  1. Longshadow Alley Patrol (Scales)
  2. East Freeport Patrol (Scales)
This was taken from the EQ2I Citizenship Timeline.

I think I'm going to do this too. Don't care too much for Neriak, and Freeport certainly has a lot to offer...

I think i agree. Neriak seems a little dead on AB server and too dark. Don't get me wrong i'm an evil dark elf who craves dark places.. but i need to see the [Removed for Content] sky sometimes.

Anyways don't the houses look better in FP and allow wall, floor, ceiling customization? I didn't seem to see this option in Neriak's houses...

I love Neriak! It's smaller and easier to navigate. The tradeskill stuff is in a city zone next to banker and broker so I don't have to zone for anything. And there are vampires in the allyways! How can you beat that?SMILEY

That's true, since it is smaller, it's easier to navigate, having everything close together.  If you are heavy into making items for sale, it's a good place to do it.  However, you don't have to be a citizen of Neriak to do it. I moved citizen from Neriak to Freeport, took maybe 5 minutes, you do a few quests that basically go find a few punks and kill them.  You can always switch citizen back and forth between the two cities, takes a few minutes.

Yeah but moving houses and furniture/redecorating takes more than a few minutes SMILEY I like Neriak but I get serious memory issues there which the devs have indicated rhey are aware of. Basically Neriak is much laggier for me than any other place in the game and if I start/visit there, it seems to slow the rest of the game down for me later via slower loading times - almost as if there is a huge memory leak there so visiting it means some data is not flushed out :/ Quite annoying actually, if they persist its back to Freeport but after spending years there, sometimes you need a change! And yes the crafting aspect is great because everything is so close there. But the fact that the Nek/TS port is across the zone is quite quite aggrevating.... hmm, decisions decisions. I suppose I always did want that beautiful ocean view house in North Freeport... I spose I can say, I visited and lived with the dark elves, enough of an experience, now back I go! SMILEY
