Hello everyone and sorry that I have not been in the thread over the last few days.

Our development team actually has put a fix in for this issue and you should not run into the problem any longer. However what you may have to do is delete the Launchpad-user.ini and start the patcher back up.

  1. After entering your username and password you will come to the next screen where the play button normally is.
  2. In the bottom left hand corner it may say EU_English, so go into the options and change it to your correct region.
  3. Now this is the important part that we want you to make sure you do before trying to press play. Exit the launcher and start it back up again and when you get to the page you normally press play on it should now correctly show you your region in the bottom left corner.

I hope this helps everyone out but if you still have a problem or any other questions let us know.

*EDIT* If you have problems with this it would probably be best if you contact our support team via phone to help you with fixing this. It will be easier for them to help you if they can walk you through the process.

*EDIT* I have edited this thread since we have put a fix in place on our side and the old steps are no longer relevant.

You can check to see the version you are patching against by an indication in the lower left corner of the UI. If this is not what you are supposed to be using, you can click on it to change it.

-- previous information (still valid) --

*UPDATE* - setting the version by the menu above should fix this problem.  You can change it by hand (editing the .ini file), but it is not necessary.

You can also get to the game directory (on any version of Windows) by running the LaunchPad and clicking on the "Options" button.  On the popup, you may click on the Game Folder "Open" button to open the folder no matter where it is located.  See the screen shot below.

Will this also fix the problem for running two streaming clients on one computer?

I use Win7 and have been 2 boxing on one PC for the last month and a half fine until yesterday. Now when the second client loads it gets switched to EU English region, when I force it to stay in US English it will not start.

Worked for the most part; thanks! Now I just have to figure out why the guy I made on Runnyeye in the interim doesn't show up on my character list. How do I pick which server I want to make a toon on, so that I can play on one if another is down? Sooo many questions, so little time.

Hey there. The reason you would not see the character created on Runnyeye is because that is one of the European servers that is actually on that EU region. If you really want to go back to that character you should be able to just delete the line out of the ini file and it will probably go back to EU in the region.

What problem are you running into? Also which server do you normally play on?

It may work out better for you to call us so that one of the techs here can make sure everything is getting entered correctly. It may be something as simple as a capitilization or something similar that I can't know for sure is happening here.

sorry guess i'm another one, tried as suggest but the file gets overwritten each time I make changes to it, also if I put the file as read only the launcher rewrites it.

We've just deployed a fix for the Launcher (build 309) that will remember the version if you set it with the UI.  This will write the setting to the LaunchPad-user.ini in the proper format.

There is a chance you may get this bug one more time, but it will remember your change after that.

The version ("region" for eq2) that you are playing is shown in the lower right corner of the UI.

Right click on your desktop icon for EQ2 Streaming and select open file location.

Some of us (most of us?) don't have a "desktop icon". Your instructions could use a bit of work.

then restart the Streaming client

Some of us (many of us) don't know what you mean by "streaming client".

Which is why they said to call their support to have them walk you through it if you don't know what to do or how to fix it.

Try this:

Delete that .ini file altogether,

Turn on the patcher

Change the region to English (US) if necessary

Close the patcher

Cross fingers, throw salt over shoulder, and spin around three times

Fire up the patcher and you should be good to go

No, it just sounds like you're still getting the issue.  Now that it will open again, can you try the fix again and see what happens?  Try just cutting and pasting the line they told you to add and see if that works better this time.

I'm afraid I'm off for the day, but the department's open for another 3 hours.  If you like, give us a call so hopefully we can get you moving before the weekend.

What was posted here did not work for me; my file already had those lines in it, so altering it did absolutely nothing.

What did work, however, was opening my EQ2 folder and finding an .ini file called [account name]_characters-eu and deleting it **IMPORTANT - DO NOT DELETE IT IF IT DOES NOT SAY EU** (primarly b/c I don't know what will happen lol). Once I deleted it, I reloaded streaming client and it populated my characters.

A friend referred me to some tech support thread from 2008 that spurred me to attempt this. IDK if it'll screw up anything but if you don't have any EU server characters (like myself), I highly doubt it will. Maybe someone from tech support can acknowledge this as an appropriate means to an end SMILEY

You have to save the changes, just like with a Word document.  Add the line they gave you, then hit ctrl+s, or just click on "file" in the top left corner, then click save. It will work fine after that.

I'm having trouble installing. I keep getting 1002 errors with every download of the installation program: An error occured trying to access EverQuest II® Extended. Error Code: 1002 I have an open ticket (100901-00137SMILEY but nothing so far has worked. I stopped by the SOE panel at Dragoncon today (in the Savannah room of the Sheraton) and met Amnerys. She wanted me to send her a PM so she could look into this, but I don't have permission to send PMs (for whatever reason). Help! I want to play this game but i'm on day 4 and haven't gotten anywhere!

My client is opening and stopping at the SoE logo.  I tried deleting all of the launchpad related .ini files and now get a larger window with no transparency saying

"There was a problem determining the game information. Please try restarting the application or contact support if this problem persists."

so I tried restoring one .ini at a time.  Tried a hard reboot.  No change.  Launcher's still stuck at the SOE logo.

I can ping the servers listed in the .inis just fine, so I'm not sure what's causing the hang (first problem I've had with it).

Edit: Solved -- deleted all files containing "launch" and re-ran the installer.

Both my accounts on different computers (One xp, one 7) are sitting at the first launch screen. Streaming client on both. Freind of mine (in a differnt country) can log in with an old client. Done all the usual reboots/restarts. Looks like problem at Sony end....Whats going on?

I'm also having the same problem with both launchers. Nothing progresses after the first splash screen. It just sits there, and I've let it sit there for 30 minutes. Please fix. Thanks. SMILEY
