There are a lot of good rangers out there, but who do you think is the best?  Please give an opinion of who you think the best ranger is for the following categories.

Best Ranger Gamewide:  Khalan on Grobb is prolly the best [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] Ranger I know with a mixture of great skill, good humor and attitude, and well she is just a great Ranger with a big commitment to our class and the game IMO.

Best Ranger from the Forums:  Kaeros/Jay42 because he is a pinnacle of our community, gave us WorldRanger, and well his belly fur is just so gosh darn soft SMILEY.

Best Ranger On My Server:  Cersiana because she is a great friend, a reason I play the game, and one of the nicest peeps I know on my server, Ranger or otherwise (inspite of her sharp tongue on WorldRanger hehe.)

These really are just my opinions and a way for me to say thanks to some of the great Rangers of our times, feel free to post about the great Rangers you know.

Edited cause I cain't spell good :smileyhappy:.

I bow my head in thanks Rhanin. Most people cant see past my snide normally playful remarks! Made me feel better ^__^

Best Ranger GameWide: I dont think I know you all well enough to pick one as the greatest!

Best Ranger from the Forums: Kaeros / Jay42 ~ I also agree he is always answering and helping with out bragging.

Best Ranger on my Server: I didn't become much of a ranger in EQ2 til i met Rhanin. And him and a fellow scout (hehe props to him to) freind made me the crazy DPS packing ranger I am today. And so you have my thanks my little darkie self follows in your big kerra footprints even if you did fall a lvl behind me!

As for my other fellow rangers in my guild, server, and gamewide ... Strive to acceive and be the best you can, but dont brag and put down your fellow ranger. We catch to much hell from the other classes to have to put up with it from each other.. So dont critisize. Help, teach, learn, and be openminded. I dont care what your dps is.. or how much you hit for.. if you cant be nice and presentable.. cause is you cant.. your not a real ranger in my book!

Good Day my fellow keepers of Natures peace!!

Eek, I steer the hell away from "best" anything. Too competitive. What are the criteria for "best" at anything? /shrug

Outstanding Ranger Gamewide: Hard to say as I don't know them all. SMILEY But Khalan is definitely outstanding, and proves that wearing Fabled gear in every slot doesn't necessarily turn you into a big snob. SMILEY I know there are a lot of high-end rangers that are very well-equipped raiding types...Demlar, Linyen, Rela, and Leoric are some that come to mind who have impressed me with their contributions to our class and our community. But I can't assess much more than just talking to people; I don't see any of these folks in action or check out their gear. (Not important to me anyway.)

Outstanding Forum Contributor: Again, hard to make a single choice as many of us have been around for a long time and have made a big difference here. I'm very flattered to be mentioned, but overall I think I'd have to pick Zholain (Catareina of Highkeep). Time and again she displays a very friendly willingness to help everyone without losing her cool or getting at all condescending about being level 60. Many others have made great contributions here, too: Rhanin, Cersi, Saihung, Narsan, Demlar, Sulas, Terje, Avandor, Sural, Sotaudi, and Landacet to hame a few, even folks like Gwyneth and Ciarra have been great new additions to the community IMO.

Outstanding Ranger on my server: Gosh, I'm in such good company... can't choose just one. SMILEY Rhanin has always been a guide of sorts, Khalan WAS on my server before she got bored, Cersi is adorable despite her attempt to seem tough, Goern is hilarious despite (or because of) his inability to type coherently, Narsan helps keep the faith, Teksun is an old friend, Ghost is great to have around... the list goes on and on. The Block seems blessed with a long list of great ranger folk. SMILEY

And there's a lot of fellow rangers who shine in a variety of ways, beyond these three categories. But IMO this isn't so much about individual achievement or glory as it is about US as a class and as a community. While it's nice to recognize those who have consistently gone above and beyond, I think we're better served by recognizing the ways in which our class and our community excels and giving that credit to everyone involved.

...and now for the awards for Worst Ranger.

Here's a hint for those of you that aren't sure if you're in the running for this award:

If you're a level 50+ ranger and you just discovered that you can use poison, then you might be the worst ranger.

If you have problems finding a group because you're trigger happy with the evac, then you might be the worst ranger.

If your brother-in-law is your uncle and your toon is named after a southern civil war general, then you might not be the worst ranger, but you're definately a redneck.

Best Ranger World Wide: Khalan is awsome. I always have to Hail Spam Him when i see him standing around. Don't know many rangers World Wide. Best Forum Ranger: Jay of course. Best Ranger on Server: Grobb would never be the same without Khalan, and the late Charyz. Although Grobb seems to have gotten an influx of Rangers as of late. I think its cause people realize how Cool we are. Thus wanting into the cool crowd. SMILEY

Sweet deal. I was mentioned. (and in a positive way). As for best..... kinda tough area to cover.  Haven't seen any ranger action outside of my server. Forum wise, Jay42 of course. I would go back and look at all his posts and im sure none would be negative towards another. But seeing as I dont think I will live to be 150 I just wont have time to read em all. On my server.....hummm.. again. haven't raided with other rangers from other guilds so cant really go there either, but most of em are friendly.

I just dont know enough Rangers to have a very qualified voice on this matter.  I dont play on any server other than Faydark, personal preference from EQOA and EQ...I dont know any Ranger on my server other than a guild mate (**shh she doesnt like rangers...she is one of them self hating rangers [Removed for Content])

On the forums...you cant get any better than Zholain and Kaeros...in my opinion, you cant even say one is more than the other.  They are both just very patient, kind and understanding folks...they seem to have a persons best interest in mind when they come back to the forums everyday.

Pfft...see how unqualified I am ...I am only able to choose a best forum and I cant even do that SMILEY

lol...oh...and since when are poisons useable by Rangers?

ROFL, you might be surprised. I can have a bad temper and I know I've made more than a few posts on this forum that I was not proud of after the fact. Even got into an argument on the WorldRanger channel last night about my bruiser alt of all things. SMILEY  Hence why it's Zholain FTW, she's always sweet and helpful and I don't think I've ever seen her lose her cool with anyone. She's been very patient and kind, whereas I don't even know the meaning of patience. SMILEY

Anyway, thanks for all the kind words, folks. And Sai, don't talk to me about unqualified, you've set a great example here time and again with your level-headedness, positive attitude, and overall maturity.

Why thank you Jay, that is high praise indeed, although I do not feel that I'm deserving.  I am too easily discouraged when I see the attitude shifting on our boards in a direction that is less than productive.  Your contributions have been constant and consistent, and all of us have benefitted from your insight. This is a difficult topic.  In more than a year of EQ2, I've met and/or talked to quite a few rangers and all of them have contributed to our class as a whole in some positive way.  But if I had to name one ranger who most exemplifies what a ranger should be...it would probably be Hollyhock of Highkeep.  You really long-timers will recognize her as CT_Hamlin from the forums.  She doesn't post here much anymore(she makes up for it on guild forums..lol), but her love of the class I can guarantee is unmatched.  Here is a person who couldn't care less about what kind of dps she does as long as she makes a positive impact on her group/raid.  Even though she is already quite an outstanding player, she is constantly trying to learn how to improve how her character performs...moreso than any player I have ever met.  I am consistently awed by her dedication and desire to learn.  And her sense of humor regarding her adventures will have you doubled over laughing.  Her kind of attitude makes you want to group with her over and over again. By the way Kaeros...I owe you another thanks(you know what I'm talking about  :smileywink: )

I think I should get the award for bestest Ranger because: a) I always give the class its due respect by spelling Ranger with a capital R, b) Bug is just so [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] cute, and c) Because I want to win an award.  I never win anything.  We were in Runnyeye for about 2 hours last night and all I won in lotto were some minataur hoofs  SMILEY Did I mention Bug is really cute?

For best ranger on my server, I'm gonna have to disagree with Khalan on Grobb.  I'm much better looking than that slacker. hehe  j/k.

Khalan's a great guy.  Jokes around and is willing to help answer silly quesitons I come up with, and didn't even seem to mind too much when I ran over and watched his guild kill a contested mob so mine had the strat for it.  hehe

Actually I think awards should go to all of us.  I'd like to think I was a decent ranger pre-LU13 but I KNOW I've become a much better one since then, especially since that's about the time I started really reading these boards and talking in the world ranger channel.

Actually, we already have our awards - the word "Ranger" under our names is enough, no? SMILEY

And Jay once again displays why so many of us think he's the best Forum ranger As for that argument, even disagreeing you displayed the same maturity and open-mindedness that you do here. I didn't think you were unreasonable at all SMILEY

Thanks so much for all the kind words, Gwyn... I'm touched. Very much appreciated. SMILEY

LOL, I keep getting the strangest images and ideas of a "Forum Ranger...."

Jay42 prowls silently among the threads, taking cover in the shadows of a recent post from Demlar about cobalt dual-wielders. The forum wind ruffles his hair as he stalks his elusive prey, tracking it by the telltale signs left throughout the boards. Jay crouches and narrows his eyes as he catches a fleeting glimpse of his quarry in the forum moonlight - the Arrow Damage Question, an old denizen of the wilderness of untamed posts. The beast flits between threads, posted by a young comrade new to the realm, unaware of the chaos he has unleashed. Jay draws his weapons, dual-wielding a trusty pristine imbued Microsoft Natural Keyboard and a Legendary Dell Optical Mouse, companions that have seen him through far, FAR too many posts.

Fingers coiling with readiness, he springs into action, deftly clicking the Reply button and firing off a volley of words with preternatural speed and accuracy! The response written, he whirls and clicks the Send key, then ducks under a sudden counterattack by his implacable nemesis, the Invalid HTML Error! He parries a second attack, casts his Lithium Error Resistance buff, then strikes swiftly with his Dell mouse, slaying the Invalid HTML Error and emerging victorious, his post submitted and peace restored throughout the forum lands. Fading back into the shadows, Jay resumes his vigilant hunt, prowling ever onward to find and defeat Confusion and Ignorance and make the Ranger forums a safer place for all.

And Kaeros beet me to it, Ranger is award enough (and yes - I always capitalize Ranger) As far as "Best Ranger Gamewide' I have NO idea, I'm on one server... nuff said "Best" Ranger in the forums: Definately Kaeros, I don't post half the time cuz he already said it LOL "Best" Ranger on my server... There are to many to count... Heck my guild has 10 and half of those are over 50!!
