Been meaning to ask this for my swabbie alt, but what good is a throw attack, that root, stifles and dazes the thrower? The damage is okay using adept 1 400-550 range, but being unable to do anything until it wears off...what good is it?

It was a decent skill for doing ranged DPS before tier 7, now t7 auto attack does more damage even with the skill at master.Good for ganking though since its instant cast and straight away locks the encounter to you.Seriously though, most Swashies use bows due to our ranged attacks being pretty bad, I use a throwing weapon, but only cause it has + slashing skill on it

The only useful purpose I've found for it is to pull.  You can target a mob, click it on and immediately click it back off.  You can save ammo this way, get the encounter locked, and it has decent usefulness with not agroing nearby encounters.

Back when it was first released in T6 it was ok ranged dps.  Now, it is not.

I still wish rogues could use and benefit (with combat arts) from bows.

If you solo a lot like myself hail of steel is really a very good spell to use.  Yes it roots you but it does very good damage.  I use artic blast to pull a mob and it slows target way down.  Then I use hail of steel and get about 3 more hits on the mob before it even gets in range of my (reach) CA's.  When I hit a mob with HoS it does anywhere from about 900-1400 damage.  So before I even have to cast a spell usually the mob has lost 4k to 5k in health.  Besides that you can turn it off so that you can fight the mob.  But I guess to each his own though that is just the easiest way to shorten a fight imo.

Main use I've found for it is the rare raid fights where a mob has such a heavy damage shield on it that you cant risk meleeing it for fear of dying due to your own speed. (i.e. Corsolander in Labs). Its rare that we're forced into pure ranged combat but its useful for those times.

It used to be good for pulling, but now evade is better.

Maybe the tier 8 version will be worth something, but that remains to be seen. I'm focusing on grinding atm as the tier 8 spells aren't ENORMOUS upgrades over tier 7 masters, so I'll get em when I can. Also, wtb loams.
