![]() If titles were to remain in the game, I'd love to see a "title bar"... somewhat like an AA or XP bar, so that you know how close you are to gaining or losing your next title. I'm not sure if they mean the infamy system to be so arbitrary or not, but this would definitely give you some clue. |

As much as it's saved my [Removed for Content] at times... remove zoning during combat.

PvP zoning. It's ticked me off more than it's saved me.

I want titles, in their present form, removed too. I have some toons with titles, some without. In my experience, titles reward people who are good at ganking and running away when the odds are anything other than a certain sub-second victory. Personally, some of my best PVP memories are solo and small group encounters where everyone stayed until the bitter end - fights that end with the victor down under 1% health are my favorite, they get the blood pumping! The way things are today, people who have titles and fight that way don't keep them for long, hence the game of evergank and everchase we play now. I theorize that if titles were removed, people would be less inclined to run away from evenly matched fights. I can also imagine a way to adjust the title system to actually encourage people to seek out challenging encounters - SOE could adjust infamy/fame increases to be more in-line with rewarding skillful players. One example would be to take into account level differences and number of people in the encnounter when determining infamy/fame gain/loss. For example, a raid size force (grouped or ungrouped) would get nothing for attacking a solo player, and the solo player would lose nothing; while fighting equally leveled and numbered opponents would yield a bonus to fame/infamy. I say grouped or ungrouped because I can't count the number of times I've taken massive infamy hits from ungrouped players just hanging around looking to tag a quick and easy infamy hit off someone going down. Is it really a reflection of skill on either side when a person traveling to/from his group gets killed by 50 people who attack? However, on the contrary, if a group of 40 folks attacks a solo con player, and he manages to take some of them out before going down, that player should get oodles of fame/infamy for his heroic performance. Another change I'd make is to add the ability to lose massive amounts of infamy when killed by someone out of your title range and to gain massive amounts of infamy when you kill someone outside your title range. For example, I kill orange con destroyers, champions, etc. all the time on my (presently) unranked bruiser and get nothing. If these folks with titles were actually as skilled and masterful at pvp as their title indicates, wouldn't this warrant a big impact on a lowly unranked "nub" like me? Afterall, I just overcame insurmountable odds to beat the champion, right? Shouldn't I at least be a ranked contender or gain the title after winning the fight? If just these two changes were made, titles would start to reflect something meaningful in PVP, and it would start to require tactics and skill to obtain and maintain titles. Some people with titles are all ready are quite good at PVP; I think this change would quickly seperate the folks who are legitamately good from those who are just in the right place at the right time, and/or are good at the gank/running away game the current system encourages.

LOL - I think it's hilarious that some people actually think titles are a) hard to get and b) somehow meaningful in their present implementation. If you want a title, it's pretty [Removed for Content] simple. Only leave the city gate if you have more people/levels/gear than the folks who you are targeting; a full group at a minimum. Only fight people who are out trying to PVE or are at a distinct disadvantage either due to lessor numbers, gear or levels than you. If your scouts report a bigger group is in the area or (god forbid) they get the jump on you, run to a zone line, zone hop, and if all else fails, camp or pull the plug. Hang out near bottlenecks for folks at the max PVP level range beneath you and make sure you kill every green person within your title range. Rinse, repeat ad-nauseum. Bingo, you'll be a champion or higher in no time. Or you could do it solo, it just takes more skill in target selection. Target a person who has a nice juicy title who is dumb enough to be out trying to level/quest/obtain gear, even if he is in a group. Use burst dps to take that person down. Die if necessary, it doesn't matter now. Target the next person who has a nice juicy title. Attack, kill, die if necessary, repeat. Since you are solo, you lose less infamy per death than the people who are grouped. I've seen people hit at least Champion this way (frog exile Swashy on Nagafen who perma camps CT comes to mind - must have killed him 2-3 dozen times but he kept coming until he got his infamy/fame from his target). Titles, as they are now, are meaningless at best. When I see a champion or dreadnaught, I think, wow, that guy is good at ganking and zone hopping.

![]() Some ppl play like that ya, but some dont. Gettin Overseer is not easy, and gettin fame from ppl doing pve stuff doesnt usually happen since they dont really focus on PvP as much as say Masters or Overseers. If it was so easy, why isnt everyone Overseers yet, or even half Masters? High titles are not easy to get or keep. I got Overseer from 85% being solo. |

I have been trying to get that point across for ages, trust me man it doesn't work. I know its dumb, but people will NEVER come to admit there are those that are betterthan them. btw I also got overseer as a SK, usually pvping in a group of 3-4. |

![]() Modify the title system so that it actually reflects your style of play. (i.e. gate-hugger title progression as follows: Sentry, Guard, Watchman, Customs Agent, Gatekeeper) (i.e. continually-running-away progression: Dodger, Escapee, At Large, Fugitive, Outlaw, Harry-Fricken-Houdini) -The Brute (A bunch of titleless crap characters on Nagafen, because I don't play easymode) |

![]() I dont want titles removed (though I do want a better system) but the fact is that in a weekend if one spent it all in large groups rolling everything in antonica/sh etc he could go up two title ranks no bother at all (this has happened to me), as opposed to the same playtime, with more effort and skill, achieving a small fame increase solo/some grouping. But I dont do the former much because its more fun playing solo/small groups/occasional large groups and fighting EVERYTHING thats even plausible to fight. Losing lots, winning some (hopefully more than is lost but its no biggie), having a blast. Titles DO however give a broad indication that a toon is "harder" to beat. Partly because of simple logic (higher rating likely = longer play, better gear and decent skill). Its not a direct link (a destroyer MIGHT be much worse than a hunter, we have all met them occasionally) but its useful enough. |

Titles are not bad, they are fine, they dont stop pvp, stop crying ffs. I go into WFP solo, I will fight full groups, I will fight any one on one requested, even when I know the crap [Removed for Content] excuse for pvp'ers who think they are great because they take advantage of my willingness to fight to [Removed for Content] up fame for toons, hoping to make a master title (same people whoc riticize luxun, but at least luxun is seen out more than you...his overseer and master title (on zhouyu) mean more than your crap general titles...I at least see him pvp. And I made dreadnaught (again) inside of WFP solo. That is a fact. SOOOO how hard is it to get tites? Not at all, so people with hunter / no title whining about it need to s~t~f~u.

![]() A title generally is an indication of a players ability to survive, in some way, a tough fight. I think that's a meaningful and useful thing to keep in the game. It's informative, and IMO, fun. When we were in the caves last night looking for faction, we saw a 15 dreadnaught ranger there. We knew HOW he got his title, so it made it that much more enjoyable when we killed him and took some fame away. It enhances the game experience, IMO.. keep titles. Remove exiles.. |

I think the issue of how difficult it may be to get "Master" or "Overseer" is irrelevant. Personally, I think the issue is that a system that encourages one to strive for such a title, discourages all out PvP. You can argue that getting a title is the hardest thing in the world to accomplish, but we all understand that most title [Removed for Content] just have to have the ability to choose their battles, erring on the side of caution as much as possible. Meaning: more running, more evacing, more zone hugging, etc. It gets pretty sickening, for example, to see the titled two person gank squads who will only "fight" solo enemies, and who evac/run/zone at the first sight of a even close to fair fight. Once evac is down, they disappear for 15 minutes. Once their "I win" buttons are down they disappear for 15 minutes. I see these all the time. Titles may be "hard to get" for all the reasons you argue, but there's no question in my mind, they hamper PvP. But... then again, who knows, kill streaks/kill counts/KvD ratios might do that too...

The only thing, in the end, that "hampers" pvp as you're trying to explain, is dying. People don't like to die. It's human instinct. It's natural to not want to die. When you're playing a virutal "hero" or "villan", you dying means something.. you're less famous or infamous if you're defeated, and more so if you win. This is a ruleset that makes sense. No one's saying that titles mean a guy is the toughest badarse on the planet, just that he doesn't LOSE as often. It's meaningful.. it means said player doesn't like to lose. In every game i've ever played vs another player the best players are those that die the least. Period. This game is no different.. I'm sorry that this isn't a knock-down-drag-out-brawl where the best players are those that get into the most fights. That's not what PvP is about -- PvP is about winning. I know what it's like to be on a low pop server and just BEGGING the enemy to come out and fight. I also know what it's like to be on a high pop server and having to look out for gank squads, several of them, roaming a zone. My dying to them doesn't IMPROVE pvp, so why rush at them like an idiot? Putting together a well geared well tuned squad, even if lower level, to go chase them out of the zone because we come at them BETTER - that's pvp. That's winning.. that's doing your best to NOT DIE. Titles just reward people who die less, and kill people like them, who die less. Sytems working just fine. Btw.. saw a guy this weekend exploiting to save his "Hunter" fame. Trust me.. it's dying that makes people do [Removed for Content] things, not fame. |

![]() well i think that death should really mean something, not just 30 seconds of droped stats. death should be a lost of all you coin (really if you die i promise not to take all you have on you) and any item not just ones that don't mean much. and maybe even be sent home. i know this will get alot of people to say there will be many more runners but it will also force more grouping and bigger battles (G Vs G) this will also get rid of revive zergs, but many more grey group/raids |
