Hi guys i'm lvl 17 currently and will ding to 18 later today which means i'll finally get accord. From my understanding the spell allows the recipient to recover mana when their being hit, so my question is can you cast it on yourself and recover mana in this manner? I ask this because i tend to do a lot of soloing due to unfriendly working hours, so the mobs are usually all up in my face. Any help will be much appreciated, so thanks ahead of time for your replies

You can cast it on yourself.  I've used it a few time but haven't been able to determine how useful it really is.   If someone else has more insight into how much power gets generated by this spell I'd certainly like to know.

Not really sure how useful it is.  I've used it on myself while soloing and on the MT when in a group and I really havent noticed much of a difference in MoT.  So I couldnt tell you if the spell is "working as intended" or it just blows.

I think we will need someone to get an Adept I book for Accord to see if it really works well.  People thought Freeze was crap but when you get it upgraded, it starts to become extremely useful.

I feel the same way about Painful Meditation.  I can imagine it's not really going to be useful until Adept II or III.

Painful Meditation is worth gold when grouping, since you can regen mana roughly 30% faster.
Might add I have the Adept1 version, but still... also useful to reduce downtime when mana goes down faster than hp.

Accord at Adept1 dont regen much mana, but it's noticable and not far from a chanter Breeze on a well hit MT.
When soloing i dont see much difference since Frozen Manacles and Freeze keep the enemies away from me.

Painful meditation is an awesome spell that I use all the time in groups. I have Adept 1. If you are at full health and aren't close to full mana, you are doing something wrong. Use that skill, its free power.

Just scored my Painful Med Adept 1 book!  Gonna head out to the Steppes and find a "Scrow" group to test this out on.

Btw, if you guys are coming up short on funds to buy scrolls and books, then just work in your mining skill for a while and get to the Tier 3 wholesaler missions.  You get 48 silver per 15 units that you bring back.  Easssssy money!

To get the best use out of this spell.. Be grouped with a healer. Secondly dont root/dot mobs. Melee em and take dmg so youll get mana back during the fight. If you have at least adept3 its a real plus!!!!!

It's not a huge powerboost. I really only use it on tough fights, or when I solo grey group encounters for Guild Writs. I have seen it tick up my power pool when I get hit a lot. It's just very minor. Then again, it's also a fairly low level spell with a few upgrades in it's future. I expect higher level version will be a bit more noticable. Time will tell.

If you want to see what it does cast it on yourself, then find a lowbie gray mob that doesnt hit for much and use a couple AEs on it to use up some of your mana without doing a lot of damage. Then sit while it hits you, so it actually lands a hit. Keep sitting everytime it hits you and stands you up. Usually between 1 and 20 hits or so and Accord will fire, you'll see a gold buff icon on your buff list. It lasts a few ticks, I never counted but I would guess 5-10 ticks, then fades. I watched my power numbers and basically I was regenning 6 power a tick normally "during combat", the accord buff when it went off added about 12 more a tick, so 200% gain for a little bit. Probably about enough power for another nuke, which can be a battle breaker sometimes. With a tank getting hit a lot, it may go off 2-3 times during its duration, so It certainly never hurts to keep it on the MA.
