From the standpoint of raiding, is it worth keeping 2 sets of armor?  Given a pally that has very little fabled armor.....One set, cobalt/vanadium etc, for grouping soloing and another set, Wis/resist based, for raiding?  While I played a wizzy in EQ1 I do remember the raid tanks trying to keep 2 sets up to date.  Does this tatic apply in EQ2?

I am starting to get more into raids where I am acting as the MT or secondary MT, up to now I have suited myself in cobalt/vanadium and moved on.

Thanks for in-put.

For raid zones, it's adviced to have a backup set of gear, especially if you're tanking, cause you don't wanna be naked after a bit. It's not really necessary once you know the zones really well etc. but especially when learning a zone you're gonna die a bunch of times and if you have a backup set of armor you can continue learning twice as long SMILEY

apart from that, sometimes resist gear is nice (although resists don't really mean that much so I only had resist jewelry). The main things you want are heat, cold & poison. There's also some magic AEs but not much (and our def stance should give plenty of magic). I don't think I've ever seen mental and divine AEs and disease is not much either.

But since you're MT, don't worry too much about it, if arcane damage is gonna be a big issue most guild just put a guy in the group that buffs that resistance and you're done. HP is king when it comes to raid tanking.

My guild has a strict policy of back up gear. In fact, I am now working on my third back up armor set. On some raids, notably pof barakah, godking, etc, It gives your guild alot more time to try different strats. Of course, that is how my guild works. Its been a while since i had to use my second set, but I can tell you that when we first tried godking or poets palace, we used that second quite often :smileywink:

It would be a huge advantage to have your best gear on while tanking, and a second suit of lesser/ resist gear on whenever not.  If your tanks don't have 2 sets of gear, you are limiting yourself to 10 deaths/ wipes before you can no longer tank. As you get more fabled you will have your cobalt or instanced fabled as back-up and eventually your backup gear will be as good as the main gear you started with.If not tanking or in a position to have to grab ads, always take off your best gear in place of junk, if you have a wipe or you get killed it is a waste of your main gear.

Definately keep another set when you are raiding.  If you aren't MT, you can probably wear the crappy armor for trash mobs and good armor or named ones.

I wish I only had 2 sets of armor to carry around. I have gear for every resist. I carry close to 4 complete sets of armor and dozens of rings, bracelets, necklaces and earrings. I also have at least one of each type of weapon; crush, pierce and slash in one and two handed varieties.

I carry 2 sets of gear and I have cold and fire resist gear. However in all honestly, I don't find myself using my resist gear for any fight. Mosts fight are beaten with jousts or are completely ranged anyway.. Being a pally I'm normally in the joust, or full ranged unless healers can keep up their groups in the AE. So I don't think resist gear is as required these days as it was before dof. Same goes for weapons, if you sit outside the AE 2-3 of the same type aren't much good. 1 of each type is prolly fine, keep ya prism 1 and 2 handy for constant regens.Oh and love the naked key if you see a wipe coming SMILEY Keep it close to the yell key, hehe.

I could be wrong though, so please list any fights that you find you need resist gear.

if you're raiding, have backup gear.  I personally have a suit of T6 fabled/legendary, a suit of cobalt, a suit of T5 fabled, and a suit of ebon.  For jewelry I have 4 backup rings, 2 earrings, 2 wrist slots, and a necklace and belt. Not quite 3 FULL suits of backup, but enough that if we start wiping, that I wont go naked. I usually only carry 1 full backup suit on me and have the others for bigger raids.  Use a 28 slot box, it works great.

For general grouping, cobalt and common fabled is fine. There's really not a whole lot of difficult group content out there once you hit 60. For raiding, have a backup set of equipment, as you can and will die a lot, especially in the bigger zones like Court of Al'Afaz and Gate of AA.

It's definately worth having at least 2, and for those who like having the optimal dps/tanking ability much more.

Personally, I carry more gear than probably anybody else out there due to me being a stat [Removed for Content] for every fight I'm in (especially in PvP), and since I MT and do dps.  Here's a list of all the crap I carry around (some of which is hardly ever used, but nonetheless there if I need it):

Full set of T6 fabled MT gear
Full set of T6 fabled/legendary backup tank gear
Full set of Cobalt
DPS gear (sabatons of the undead executioner, girdle of conq., underworld legplates, gauntlets of conquering, etc.)
Full set of fabled/legendary jewelry for overall stats (use it soloing or while being the MT)
Some INT jewelery for AoE fights (I need more due to my str being so high and int not even at the cap in raids)
Full set of STA and STR jewelry (for backup tanking or single target dps stats)
Several Vanadium rings for buffs
Full set of magic resist jewelry for pvp vs. casters (makes a huge difference).
Several items with high heat resist (most common AoE)
Several items with high cold resist (second most common AoE)
Then I even have all my old T5 fabled for like 4th string backup which I've only used one time (first time in FoL without dps in the raid, lol).  It's just so hard to sell it after having to farm so long to obtain, plus it looks cool.

Yea, that's 3 boxes full of gear I know...lol.  If I'm naked I have to get in offensive stance, cuz otherwise I'm fully burdened...haha.  Anybody else carry that much, or am I the only crazy one? :smileyvery-happy:
