Just hit level 21, and I'm have a real problem decideing what weapons to use....or no weapons at all. seems to me when I go with out weapons (bare handed) I do more damage, but there seems to be alot of nice stuff out there I'm just worried about the speed factor, fistwraps 1.3 , Batons 1.5 and cestii's 1.7-.2.0

what do you guys use and why? and does anyone know our speed when going with out weapons?

Thanks for your advice and input

Currently at level 28, I carry 7 melee weapons that I swap out as the mood stikes me:
Two Firwood Fighting Batons, I mostly use when I want a little extra AGI.
Two Ebon Quarterstaff, better DPS than the Batons.
Two Tailored Boiled Leather Fist Wrap, Less DPS than the quarterstaves, but at 28, the quarterstaves are blue to me now, while these are still yellow.
and Makoto's Bo of Striking  Is my 2HB weapon, but only use this once in a blue moon.  If I want to use the uber 133t Bo animations, I will put one of the quarterstaves in my primary slot with a fist wrap in my secondary slot, which is the same animation as just using the sucky Bo.

28 really sucks as I cannot quite use the good level 30+ weapons, yet most of my weapons have gone blue and green.  Same with my armor.

I use wraps/cestii mainly but now I use two rare ebon maces.  Never go bare fisted, its actually a lot worse dps, you just see bigger numbers, but its one handed and slow.

At 21 I would use splintering quarterstaves.  Between stats, damage, and speed, I've not really seen a better overall weapon for the low-mid 20s.

I was using two of them until level 26, when I finally started poking around for upgrades.  Even after the splintering quarterstaves were green, they were still better than anything else I could find.  (that is, there were newer orange weapons that would eventually ourclass the splintering quarterstaff, but not until they were at least yellow)

The stats on the splintering quarterstaves are nice, but I'll take my pair of Firwood Fighting Batons. Instead of +4 Agi, +4 Str the Batons are +5 Agi, +3 Str. With the pair equipped that's +10 Agi. That goes a long way toward making me hard to hit at this level.

If you ever see a Splitpaw Staff of Snarling for sale...pick it up. Terrific dual wield weapon for 20's, but a pretty rare drop.

At 21 I've been using a dwarven mace of clensing from completing the firemyst gulley quest (+5 STR, +25HP (celestial clensing, small undead proc)) and a pristine conditioned ash baton. I also used to use my makoto's bo of striking till I accidentally sold it to a vendor *grumble*. Both of these have served me quite well since level 19. Right now I'm keeping my eyes out for some fist wraps though, because I love the speed on them.

Because as sure as the sun came up this morning, at the first hint of a [any] change in the update notes there will be countless "SOE made [whatever was changed] useless!" threads, despite the fact that skilled players will continue to play their classes just fine.

I use cestii, as they look cool. I would rather have a pair of good fist wraps, but I can't afford them at the moment.

Fistwraps (1.3 delay) are my first and foremost preference. If i cannot find the best wraps in my liking for the momemnt, i go for batons (1.5) or even the cestii/cestus route if they are good enough.I try to avoid maces and 2h staffs if possible. This new Ebon mace may change my preference though!New look and good stats, cant be that bad eh? I mainly use the hierophants crook right now. But sometimes I switch between cestils of the master and augmented fist wraps.I am gonna try to have a pair of rare fist wraps, or rare cestils made as soon as it possible.

I just bought these off the broker:

Drathan Fist Wraps
Attuneable
+12 AGI +12 STR
Dual Wield
Damage (17-52 at LVL 40)
Base Damage 7-22
Delay 1.3
150-200

I cannot use these yet, I am only 25.  I can't wait to hit 30 now.

I just hit 22 on My Monk. I was originally playing a Mystic. I got him to 34 and now I started a monk and am loving it. I currently use 2 Firwoods or 2 dwarven cleansing maces. Although I did pick up a Oakwood baton for 3g and that is waiting for me now. Just looking for another. But I would love to know where or how to get the Drathan Fist Wraps. Those seem like some very nice weapons. I never really used fists. I like the baton and 2hand look for a monk. I am seeing better gear though for fists so I might change over. If anyone could post where to find those wraps please, that would be awesome.
