I have a level 12 Ratonga Shadowknight that I made and was thinking about how cool it would be to have a High Elf Shadowknight. Is the quest very time consuming if I have the funds to purchase invis potions or what have you? This is only my second week playing so some things are still new to me. I haven't done any tradeskilling yet so I wouldn't lose much that way and I have an empty character slot I could make the High Elf in and transfer over some money. At say level 15, how long would you think it would take a High Elf Paladin(gosh I hate Paladins) to do the entire betrayal process and be a proud member of freeport? I was thinking maybe the racial stealth and the armor look on a Ratonga might out weigh how could it would be to be an evil High Elf, but I just can't decide. If it doesn't take a ton of time I will most likely be open to doing the betrayal quest. I will most likely be going either Alchemist or Carpenter when I get my character established to fill him out. Any tips or advice is always accepted, I like to be a rare combination, but Erudite just doesn't do it for me! =0 The reason time is such a big issue is because I have a friend that is playing an Iksar Defiler and I wouldn't want it to slow us down by more than a day or so of sessions, that and long tedious things that take several days to a week are just not my style. Are looks worth the time to betray? That is a question only I can answer in the end, but a ball park for how long it would take would be great if anyone knows with the new quests, I guess they used to be easier, but more of a grind. Thank you all, Tulianya

If its just about the look it is not worth it.  It is a very long quest, especially if you are just starting out in the game and only duoing it.  Make a dark elf and make his skin as light as you can.

But its more fun to make a High elf with white hair and darken the skin as much as possible and see if you can pull it off pretending to me Teir'dal. :smileysurprised:

But to answer your question, without stealth it will take you a few days to complete, you have to be over 30 to use the invis totems. But if you wait til after level 20 you can gain AA from all the named mobs you kill gaining status for freeport.

Darn, was hoping it really wasn't super long after all. I think the Ratonga is neat and all, but clearly is a bit small to show off the sweet armor that my shadowknight will be sporting. Just didn't want to swing the way of Ogre, Troll, Dark Elf and Iksar for the majorities. It was just for the look and to be "different". Really takes some of the fun of mixing races with different classes, I wouldn't have the heart to level a paladin over 20 lol. Tulianya

I think we needed 2 evening for it, the first we did the initial run quests, and the other we grinded faction. Best are the quests were you have to sneak into Qeynos and clear an instance there, because they give the most faction. :smileywink:

And yeah, i like to have the highest Woodelf SK on our Server now :smileytongue:

I certainly dont regret betraying to be a high elf SK. although i think there are now 3 level 70 high elf SK's on runnyeye.

Keep in mind that Xanoth and Shalla were not new to the game.  No offense, but if you lack experience with EQ2 I'd be surprised if you finished in less than 5 evenings.

i havent given this in depth tough, as which race would be the best to play SK (i wonder if human or ogre would be best, +5 def is nice...) however, I LOVE the way my high elf SK looks in plate armor... so frickin sexy!

personally, if you are speaking about the male high elves, i think they look [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn].  didnt like them in eqlive either with their batting helmets on.  i neve liked the ratonga much until i saw an sk ratonga in plate.  it looked surprisingly good and if i hadnt made a dark elf sk i would have made a ratonga or possibly an iksar.  the betrayal is long and hard for someone new to the game.  i wouldnt bother.  having a high elf sk is not that cool imo.  i tried to betray my froglok mystic to be a defiler and gave up after the 2nd night.  what a pain.  he was 10 think and on a nagafen which may have been part of my problem.

Well I am new, but I think I have a pretty good grasp on the game, I got my Ratonga to 14 now and though I still think it would be sweet to be a high elf SK... I think Sony made it too big a pain in the butt to have fun doing it. I will just rock out the Ratonga and enjoy the next game that comes along.. hopefully Age of Conan works out. With in invisibility I bet the quest would just be way too big a hastle even if I knew exactly what I was doing. Thanks for the input, Tulianya

well, it took my woodelf a total of 6 hours to do the whole betrayal with help from my wifes scout...the invis makes it fast to do the seed quest to destroy the tree in eldar grove...i just ran up to the gaurd after the quest update, kills you and drops you right where the quest npc is. hail the npc take the same quest, rinse and repeat. if you do it right you can get it done fast. the reward? a woodelf  shadow knight....

heh, roll an evil race, and with the money you save, but a set of Qeynosian petrified eyes, and the bone components...then you can be any race you want.
