BTW:  1 gripe about the squire.. [Removed for Content] is it human?  Why would a rat have a human squire? (((
I'm a dark elf i try to think that mine is human to represent how much superior i am than the human race.

when you turn level 40 you can buy them off trainers in your home city (for SKs they are in north freeport) ~Kymi - 50 SK - "Avatars Of Might" - Mistmoore

I have noticed one thing in regards to squires similar to what you said Boombahyay.  Bring out a squire. Place it between you and a mob then fight combat as you normally would. Note how many Barrage/special attacks hit you and the damage and who gets hit you or the squire. Now try against the same mob without the squire. I bet you'll see a decent difference SMILEY Pentarum 50 SK Unrest

It really only happens for me when fighting a group mob (but not always)...I think it may parry some aoe's, giving damage in return and actually stealing aggro...which is fine with me, unless I'm trying to keep it. But I also like to call on it when I'm duo'ing...that and the mushroom pet, then the pudding ball and the stool pigeon...it's like my own little posse.
