We do a fair amount of 1 vs 1 on Venekor and as you know the mechanics are different to duels on a blue server. My l 70 Bruiser has not bad gear for a PvP server- but not nearly as good as the average lvl 70 from a blue. Anyway, I do pretty well 1 vs 1 against pretty much everyone I've fought - but the other day I got beaten twice out of three by a 68 Warden.

I tried all-out burst damage (the 'Zidane') and nearly had him dead before his heals kicked in. Then I tried timing stuns, mez, fear etc to stop him casting  -but didn't seem to have enough to stop all his DoTs and heals from doing their work. In fact this second approach worked out worse than the Zidane.

I know that if I could upgrade my spells to Master 1 and or/get Twin Calamities, the burst damage approach would probably work. Failing that, can anyone who does well against Wardens in PvP gimme a few tips? Do I just need to work on timing the stuns bettter? Is this our 'can't beat' class?

I want to start by saying that I don't play on a PVP server. That said, I have a friend who is a warden that I have dueled with quite a bit...I started off using our knockout combination on her at the open of a fight followed by as much burst damage as I could muster....and that worked until she got a heal off before the attacks- then it was lights out.

Ultimately I shifted my gear to cover heat and cold resists. Makes a longer fight, but her damage just doesnt do enough now to take me out. Hope this helps.

I basicaly go with just auto attack and quick reuse combat arts at first because they always have their big heals available then. I think of it as softening them up SMILEY.

From there its basicaly a gut feeling. Generally, while luring them into this "false sense of security" they will start letting their helth drop a bit because you not really beating them that hard. Once they let you get them between 50%-60% health (this will generally happen after they think they "have you" because you are around <50% HP then I hit knockout combo and go all out, unleashing everything I have, that'll generally drop them everytime.

wardens are extremely hard to kill for bruisers. Krommus' strat is the one I go for usually...but still fail most of the time. Finnster / Finni

Hey there,

Healers are tough.

To beat these guys I always have a Potion of Power -regen hot-keyed. I also always have a HP regen too.

It is is truely satisfying beating Healers at their own game and also maybe the only way to beat them ?

Hope this helps.

Since I went with the final ability on the int line, I just use a ca here and there, basically biding my time till i hit 30% health, then i hit knockout combo and go off with everything crit'ing. No healer can keep up with that amount of damage.

I think it's fair to say that in true 1v1, a good warden can beat anyone, with the exception of a good ranger, and possibly a lucky bruiser
