I've noticed that on my bruiser, after the last update we suddenly gained slashing and piercing skills when up till then the only skill we had was crushing.  This shouldn't be a problem but only now my crushing is like 315/315 but slashing is 5/315 and piercing like 7/315.  So if they changed the way we use different weapons that are now slashing and piercing, will we now miss until we raise it up or is it like before where all bruiser/monk weapons are dependant on crushing skill and piercing/slashing has no effect.

weapons now have a damage type and a skill check which is not necessarily the same. Example Wurmslayer: it has a crushing skill check, but deals piercing damage. For most weapons you'll find though damage type and skill name are identical. If you have a bruiser weapon dealing slashing damage, you will most likely need slashing skill to use it. This isn't really new as it is like it was in the beginning of EQ2. But it was changed at some point that brawlers only required crushing skill for all their weapons. And now it's back to the original state. Finnster

Most brawler weapons used crushing skill even when they did slashing or piercing damage, as you probably know. As of KoS (I think) there are weapons introduced that actually use slashing skill. Because of this, slashing and piercing were added back to the brawlers and eventually to our buffs. The dev stated at the time that other lower level weapons would be added over time so that brawlers do not continue to find themselves getting to a high level then finding they have to train the skills more or less from scratch.

When I get to 62 (currently 60) I'll be one the many with 100 or less of 300+, slashing away at the air for a while. :smileywink:

well, then they should have left the slashing and piercing skills in from the beginning of the game instead of taking it out and re adding them.  Not sure if its possible but they could have compensated by making our slashing and piercing skills the same level as our crushing at the time they changed it.  Also, while adding the lower level slashing/piercing weapons would be nice, this will only help people rolling new bruisers to keep their skills up to date.  Looks like its back to hours of training

I don't see the big hassle in building your skills up. It was worse when they gave crusaders piercing ability due to the fact we can duel wield with a crushing while they can't. either way while building it you suffer a tiny dps loss. You still have 1 weapon with a good skill plus CAs for dps. I wouldn't try to build your skill while MTing but while solo or DPS role it'll max in no time. whatever its just my opinion
