Hi folks.  Excuse any misspellings, as I have a cold and feel miserable.

I think I've found a niche for me.  Well, at least for now.

So, I have a Fury, level 13, and I like it.

I have done a couple of Monks, but then moved on.  Now, I'm trying to create a Monk again, but I feel there's something fundamental I'm missing.  I am torn between Monk and Bruiser.  Both fit my style of play, but I am torn as to a species also.  I did a half-elf Monk and Bruiser, but something wasn't right.  Don't ask me what, something just did not click.  I'd like to stick with the Elves, as Human models of avatar are inherently ugly.  No, I haven't tried a Dark Elf.

Given all this, any suggestions?  I'd really appreciate some feedback.

Another question:  If it's so easy to level to 20, why is it taking me so long?  I've spent 2 weeks on this Fury and she's only level 13.  Did I miss something (yet again)?

Doc (Yes, in Real Life, I am a Doctor)
Keiran - Level 13 Fury
Erynn - (undecided at this time)

"There's a Daytime Nyquil and a Nighttime Nyquil.  Drink either one of them cause your body doesn't care what time of day it is!"
 --  Lewis Black

Note:  I'll put this on the Bruiser board too.  Thanks in advance folks and see y'all ingame.

I went woodelf for my Monk but I am a female and play a female char and if your going stat wise not sure but I went for looks, lol!!!  If your going bruiser and gonna make a male char IMO I think the barbarians look awesome thats what my husband has, hehe. Not sure why your having trouble getting to 20 on your chars are you doing quests at your lvl in Antonica/Commonlands? I know soloing on newbie chars I can get to 20 in no time doing little quests in Antonica or Commonlands. :smileyvery-happy:

Done some random testing here and there but only for lower levels

Barbarians and Ogres are good for STR and STA... < maybe Trolls and Dwarves too >

Kerras Iksars and Humans have Extremely good balance stats wise

Ratongas Gnomes Frogloks, Pretty much all the elves have good to decent agility < avoidance >

So really it depends on what you want to do with your character I play a Kerra monk so I guess I'm partial when I say they gave the best results. Oh, and the tail rocks!

Keep ur chin up dude, I was on a toon last night and it got 3 levels (10-13), before that, the last time I used him I got 4 SMILEY It's quite easy if you look around, if you're evil based, theres plenty of faction quests that you can do that are close i.e. the Sprawl, Ruins, Sunken City etc. Of course that took me up to 13 but you should still be able to get 2 levels out of that place. After that I would head out to CL for some quests but if you were risque you could go straight to Fallen Gate, that place rocks as much as Antonia has breast implants!

Once you hit 20+, I would head straight to Steppes, nevermind Nek Forest, its too dangerous to be any good, Steppes has a ton more content.

Anyway, have fun!

BTW - I have a Woodie Monk, he rocks, superfast, high natural agility so you don't have to waste any upskilling on agil (which you shouldn't anyway) If you want a good evil race, Iksar is really the only choice (well, from a heritage view - they made the best EQ1 monks SMILEY)

I don't have any suggestions on how to lvl a Fury, but with my monk and ranger, I just ran around and grabbed every single quest I could find in all of the cities.  It took me about an hour and then just go do them.  A lot of them you can do at the same time because they require the same thing.

I still don't see to many high elf monks, accually I don't think I've ever seen a male high elf monk... Ok, ok, so we don't have strength like barbarians, or agility like wood elves, etc... But I do believe we add grace and beauty to being a monk (alright, that was the snooty high elf coming out... :smileywink: )

Froglock. Period. Anything other will make Chuck Norris cry.

Actually, I've made it to lvl 14 and haven't died yet. Good Agilty and decent Str. That and he looks like Yoda flying around ninja style. Oh, and even though I hated them at first. I love schhhhhl the way they schhhl talk, I can't help but stop schllll and talk to everyone I pass Gurrrrrrup.

hehe.

Try it out for kicks. You would be suprised. I did it for a joke and found him to be actually rather effective.

I went Barb Monk for the crushing resists mainly because I could not bear to be a dwarf. In the end though wish I was a "smaller" quest because in a Gi I have nipples the size of a gnome!

I went DE, cuz I always wanted a DE monk in EQ1. I dig it, but I also have a Frog eye, Kerra, Iksar and Troll eye for when I feel like getting a different look SMILEY

(Which BTW was a very good idea on the devs part IMO)

Stat wise, I think it's been said: it all comes out in the wash.
