Personally, I use no weapons at all.  I both love the barehand combat animations and see more damage with no weapons than ones I can find now.  I recently discovered this after accidentally unequipping my Makoto staff.

only one problem with this. Some mobs need to be hit with magical weapons to hurt them. Unarmed bare fists do not count as magical. So you will get a message above the mob saying IMMUNE when you attack it.

I keep a backpack stacked with a 2h, 2 one-handers, and 2 claws/fists/cestus' types for cases like this.

Question... I read that if I am unarmed, it does not count as dual weild, SO am I losing out on an attack compaired to using say 2 batons?

If this is the case, should I go barefisted primary, weapon secondary?

And lastly, is there a damage / speed listing for bare fisted attacks?

Regards!

I have heard (on this board), that unarmed fist delay is around 2.2, which is a bit slower than most of the weapons offered to us (most use weapons in the 1.3-1.7 range).

If you are afraid to get riposted alot, use a slower weapon.

If you want higher chance to be able to interrupt a caster, use a faster!

Unarmed Fists at 2.2 feels a bit too slow to me, especially after using handwraps! SMILEY

I've been doing a lot of practicing with weapons and whatnot .. let me share what I've discovered:

20 Ratonga Monk
Series of tests on greens with bare hands, dual wield nomad walking sticks, Makoto staff, and one hand wrap.

Barehands do approximately 40 - 50 damage a hit.
Dual walking sticks does 6 - 15 damage hit, but hits twice (hence the dual)...not to mention the stats bonuses..
Makoto Staff - between 35 - 45, on average.

Here's the interesting part.

If I put on both walking sticks, but remove the primary one (keeping the second stick in my secondary slot).. I retain the damage of my barehands and the stats of the walking stick in my offhand.

It's hard to tell just from the eye if I'm hitting both with the staff and with my barefist, if my delay was lowered to the walking stick, or if it's still the same delay as barefists... it's just nice to know that I keep the stats from my secondary weapon while doing all the damage as my barehands.

Of course, this is all I'm using till a friend of mine crafts me some pristine boiled leather hand wraps, or pristine boiled leather cesti...
